As one would expect from a society built upon the remnants of Purebloods, the Resurgent Empire carries a heavy caste system. This caste system is based upon the segmentation of ranks, allowing certain members of society to work together more closely while separating others.
Everyone within the resurgent Empire, whether Pureblood or not, is part of one of the three Castes.
One chooses their own Caste upon joining the ranks of the Empire. It does not matter whether you can use the force or not, everyone has a caste and it is what and who they work with.
The benefit of the castes is a simple one, once inside the fold of one of the three a person has access to more resources that fit them. A Massassi will be surrounded by soldiers, a Kissai will more freely walk among the libraries, and a Zugurk would see their opportunities unfold. The Castes offer opportunity, a way to rise through the ranks of the Empire in a position that is suited to the individual.
Being part of a particular Caste does not make it impossible to attain certain positions, it simply makes it easier. For instance a Massassi is much more likely to become an Admiral than a Kissai, similarly a Zugurk is much more likely to be a Planetary Governor than a Massassi. The Castes are a way to make ones chosen path easier, though they are by no means a constraint on ambition. With enough force of will, anyone of any caste could do anything, though they would be met with resistance from the other caste's.
The Castes are important. They ensure that the Empire works together, mostly because to get anything done at all you require members of all Castes working together and sharing their information. They are a balance on one another. The armies of the Massassi would get nowhere without the support of the Kissai, the Kissai's research would stall without the support of the Zugurk, and both would fall without the protection of the Massassi. Each Caste is a balance on the other.
Once a Caste is chosen, an individual generally swears their loyalty to one Sphere of Influence of the Council. It does not matter which Caste one is a part of, though certain Caste's are more likely to swear loyalty to certain Spheres. Of course this loyalty is based on the words of Sith, and thus really only nominal in nature.

The Massassi are probably the most well known and feared of all three Castes within the Empire.
Named after the long changed and mutated Massassi sub-species of Purebloods, this caste encompasses warriors, assassins, commanders, and all those who have a penchant for blood, violence, and war. The Massassi are stereotyped as brutes and thugs, killers, and although this may be true of some it is not necessarily the truth of them all.
Those within this caste can vary as wildly as any other. Some Massassi are brutal bloodseekers while others are highly intelligent strategists. No matter which they are, all Massassi are to be feared and respected. Those of this Caste have a reputation for war and battle, holding themselves in the highest regard even though they may not be the best fighters themselves.
All Warriors, not just force users, are labeled as Massassi. From the lowliest foot soldier to the highest Admiral, they are among the caste and their standing is equal to their rank within the military.
If one wants to conduct a battle of any sort, whether in the open or in the shadows, it is the Massassi they call upon.
The Massassi most often swear their loyalty to the Spheres of War, Intelligence, or Domain.

The Kissai can easily be said to be the most respected of the Three Castes. It is they who are held to the highest esteem of all their peers.
While the Massassi are feared and the Zugurk are held in regard, the Kissai are seen as the true students of the ancient Empire's. It is the Kissai who hold to their ancient traditions. They are the researchers of the Empire, the learned educators, and the powerful Sorcerers that form the backbone of any military force within the Empire.
The Kissai are an important facet of the Empire.
Though many think of them as simple mystics, and some are, the Kissai are in fact the root of most technological development within the Empire itself. Researchers, Scientists, and even librarians all fall under the purview of the Kissai. Those of this caste are extremely knowledgeable and hold the keys to many secrets.
The Kissai hold all sorts within their ranks, from the conniving Sith Sorcerer to the innocent Chiss researcher. All are welcomed within the fold of this caste, their standing decided simply by the input they provide to the Empire itself.
The Kissai most often swear their Loyalty to the spheres of Education, Domain, and Intelligence.

The Zuguruk represent an odd sort of place within the Three Castes.
Though the other two castes have a clear defined purpose, the Zuguruk are far more flexible in their possibilities. It is this caste that represents the 'civilians' of the Empire, yet that definition is stretched.
Even the innocents of the Empire are dangerous beyond belief, and those that would call themselves Zuguruk are more often than not just as dangerous as those who would call themselves Massassi. This Caste is somewhat of an Enigma, claiming to represent those in the Empire that have no place among the Massassi or the Kissai and simply creating a 'filler' for those unrepresented.
It is the Zuguruk where most of the Empire finds it's most clever. The money lenders, bureaucrats, spies, all call themselves Zuguruk.
This caste also has the greatest range of possibilities. Though as a Massassi the lowest one call fall is a simple Soldier, as a Zuguruk one can easily find themselves in the pit mines. Yet it is also the easiest Caste to rise through the ranks, ones status simply being decided by their own ambition and intelligence.
The Zuguruk most often swear allegiance to all Spheres of Influence, though many have a fondness for Logistics.
Spies
Bureaucrats
Bankers
Governors
Engineers
Lawyers
