The CC-DS12 Rapid Shield Generator from Captain's Choice is focused on providing reliable emergency defense for civilian vehicles and smaller craft. The first key feature of the DS12 is its variable specialized shield modes, the baseline defenses of the DS12 covers a broad range of potential damage, but it can switch between different modes to focus on specific damage types. These three modes, Ray, Particle, and Environmental, each increase protection against energy, kinetic, and environmental factors respectively. But the second feature of the DS12 is what gives the Rapid Shield Generator its name, a bank of enhanced capacitors and cryogenic reserve cells that greatly enhance the deployment, toggling, and recharge speed of the DS12. This means the DS12 can be up and ready to serve in any mode the minute its needed, and can quickly regain full charge outside of immediate danger.
Unfortunately, part of the reason the shield is able to maintain such coverage and reliable speed is because its baseline level of defense is lower than average. Even the specialized modes are weaker than many other shield systems with the same level of specialization.
