Iron Sun Intelligence was established in 897 ABY from the still-smoldering wreckage of the New Imperial state. Its founder, the renegade planning droid Moff Antipater, has made it his stated goal to perfect the droid and automation technology necessary for the next Empire to succeed in a more permanent faction. Organic cupidity and infighting drove the collapse of the last Empire, and so it stands to reason that the less organics involved... The higher the likelihood of success.
For the time being, Iron Sun Intelligence is little more than an arsenal for various imperial warlords and other unsavory elements. A litany of cheap, black market war materiel spills from its commandeered foundries - a temporary measure meant to finance the eventual development of the droids and supercomputers necessary to usher in an inevitably more perfect Order.
Iron Sun Intelligence favors dealing with Imperial successors above all, eager to curry favor with any who might restore the Empire's border. As with any business, however, it's receptive to making outside arrangements...

Iron Sun Intelligence is the result of the nationalization and consolidation of several private manufacturing firms on Jaemus. Aggravated by corruption, mismanagement, and lax quality standards, the recently-seated Moff Antipater elected to place their resources under his direct control. Many business magnates protested the Moff's extraordinary actions. Antipater remedied the situation by introducing these detractors to the stockpile of nerve agents left behind by his predecessors.
Afterwards, the survivors quietly acquiesced to the new Moff. Iron Sun Intelligence has spent the better part of the last three years consolidating its control over the so-called Imperial Nexus, a city-sized network of automated foundries and Moff Antipater's seat of power. Now it is finally ready to take a more active role in sector politics.

ISI/MMS: "Magnetic Mount System." Magnetic rail mounts which ran along the top and right-hand side of the Spatha allowed for a wide variety of custom attachments: flashlights, scopes, and so on. Iron Sun Intelligence manufactured a variety of cheap attachments that were added at the discretion of customers.
ISI/AFS-01: "Adaptive Firing System Mk. I." This was the top barrel and the primary firing system of the Spatha. It had two settings: burst (3 shots), semi-automatic, and automatic.
ISI/AFS-02: "Adaptive Firing System Mk. II." The bottom barrel and the secondary firing system of the Spatha. It had two settings: tri-shot and charged shot. Tri-shot would fire a horizontal spread of three condensed bolts which were devastating at close range. Charged would fire a single high-velocity, high-energy shot ideal against heavy armor or vehicles even at long ranges. Each consumed the equivalent of three shots from the ammunition cartridge.
[Optional] ISI/PTS: "Personal Targeting System." This system outfitted the Spatha with an auto-balancing gimbal, an ultraviolet targeting laser, and a miniaturized multi-frequency targeting computer for increased precision. The Spatha could make minute corrections to a user's aim to improve accuracy.
[Optional] ISI/CISP: "Cold Iron Software Package." An adaptive software package designed to allow direct interfacing between the Spatha and electronic armor systems, droids, or cyborgs. Provided real-time information on weapon status, ammunition capacity, and targeting via heads-up-display. It also permitted intelligent, self-adapting tailoring of the Personal Targeting System for the user. Useless without ISI/PTS.

[ + ] One-Size: The Spatha was a tough, reliable weapon with adjustable settings, interchangeable ammunition, and a modifiable frame. It was suitable for most conceivable combat scenarios.
[ + ] The Evil Eye: The Spatha's optional targeting and software systems were incredibly sophisticated and amplified the combat efficiency of users.
[ - ] She's So Heavy: The Spatha was heavier than most other standard infantry rifles, making it cumbersome in the hands of untrained soldiers and militia.
[ - ] All Out of Love: The Spatha could fire 192 shots per cartridge – a rather paltry amount compared to most blaster rifles. On top of the Spatha's own weight, soldiers would have to carry extra cartridges.

War is waste, and the side which wastes its resources the most efficiently is the one which emerges victorious. It is certainly possible to employ fourteen different blasters which fulfil fourteen different roles and take fourteen different types of ammunition... Or you could design one large rifle which can accomplish most battlefield tasks.
This weapon, conceived by Antipater, was the Adaptive Infantry Weapon Mk. I, otherwise known as the Spatha-Series Blaster Rifle. It possessed five different firing settings, a versatile ammunition system, and a highly customizable frame. The base model was relatively cheap to manufacture and could weather all manner of hardships.
The Spatha was designed to be a tantalizing choice for many Imperial holdouts looking to outfit their soldiers quickly and effectively. Though the Spatha could be outperformed by more specialized weaponry, it was far easier to acquire and customize. This versatility also made it popular with bounty hunters and mercenaries along the Braxant Run.
The Spatha could be further upgraded with a personal targeting system and a computerized interface for synchronization with electronic armor systems or cybernetic interfaces. These packages were considerably expensive and so were usually reserved for elite, seasoned soldiers who warranted i... Or anyone willing to stomach the cost.
Antipater had this droid deactivated and recycled. The bulk of the reclaimed metal was converted into a filing cabinet.
