The Commonwealth Marine Corps, formerly the Commonwealth Army, was in past times separate from the navy but was assimilated into the navy to provide a more mobile defense force. It is a vast network of legions spanning tens of millions of soldiers. They're known for their adaptability and proficiency in guerrilla warfare. Light assault vehicles, tanks and artillery are the bread and butter of the Marine Corps.

Role
The Marine Corps serves as the frontline troops in any given conflict of the Commonwealth. They operate in joint-efforts with a variety of special forces and militia. The most well known of these are the CST's, otherwise known as Commonwealth Shock Troopers. Administrated by the navy, CST's work with Marine Corps on the frontlines and serves as a means to secure LZ's and perform long-range reconnaissance, as well as search and rescue.

Other groups include the Colonial Militia, the defense forces unique to each planet under Commonwealth jurisdiction. Despite the Colonial Militia not under the same military regulations as the Marine Corps, i.e planetary governments supply their own militia, they co-operate with the Marine Corps to allow a fluid and quick response to threats the Commonwealth face.

The Marine Corps number tens of millions and hold bases, outposts and installations across Commonwealth space. They're a highly mobile infantry force that can respond rapidly to any attack. While the Commonwealth suffers from a subpar fleeting force that has lost numerous engagements, it is well known once the boots hit the ground it's already a Commonwealth victory.
