Sovereign Army
Grand General (GGEN)
The grand general retains ultimate command of the entirety of the sovereignity army, alongside the grand warrant officer and his wide-reaching command element. Ultimately, the responsiblity and accountability of the army comes to them.

High General (HGEN)
Only recently added to the command structure as the Sovereignity expanded to multiple worlds, a High General takes command of army forces land and territory beyond scope. They normally take command of an army group (XXXXX, 2+ armies) or a theater (XXXXXX, 4+ army groups.)

General (GEN)
A general is just that: a general. Their influence and responsibilty within the organisation is almost endless, with theaters of war depending on their actions. They normally take command of an army (XXXX, 2-4 legion groups.)

Grand Commander (GCOMD)
A grand commander is an incredibly influential rank, due to their independence and delegation of broad sweeps of war. A grand commander normally takes command of a legion group (XXX, 2+ legions.)

High Commander (HCOMD)
The rank of high commander is iconic, if not only for the importance and prevelance of legion-sized forces in large scale operations. As aforementioned, a High Commander normally takes command of a legion (XX, 2-4 regiments and/or brigades.)

Commander (COMD)
A commander marks the first step in the general staff chain, where strategy and logistics prevail. A commander is normally given command of a brigade (X, 2+ regiments.)

Colonel (COL)
A colonel is typically a veteran officer and marks where the tipping point between majority tactics and majority strategy is most prevelant. A colonel is normally given command of a regiment (III, 2+ cohorts.)

Major (MAJ)
A major is considered the first 'veteran' officer rank and is often the tipping point between being approachable and too intimidating a rank for most junior ranks. A major is normally given command of a cohort-sized force (II, typically 3 companies.)

Captain (CAPT)
A captain is generally considered the first 'experienced' officer rank, even if most lieuetnants are capable from their time at SAIC. They are normally given command of a company-sized force (I, typically 3 platoons.)

Lieutenant (LT)
A lieutenant is the first rung in the commissioned officer chain and normally given command of a platoon (•••, typically 3 squads). A commissioned officer is commissioned by the sovereign, entitling them to the title 'sir' and other officer formalities.

Officer Cadet (OCDT)
An officer cadet is a student at the Sovereign Academy of Interstellar Command, undergoing study to become an officer within the Sovereign Armed Forces. Unlike their enlisted counterpart (unranked), they are sworn soldiers and bear their cape, except of a unique color.

Grand Warrant Officer (GWO)
Within the Sovereign Army, there is only one grand warrant officer. The grand warrant officer is the sergeant major of the army and takes executive responsibility for supply and discipline for the entirety of the sovereign army.

High Warrant Officer (HWO)
A high warrant officer is a warrant officer who has been appointed as a regimental sergeant major, which can entail appointments from cohort (II, typically 3 companies) to theater (XXXXXX, 4+ army groups) level.

Warrant Officer (WO)
Considered the royalty of non-commissioned officers and renowed as figures of wroth and myth, warrant officers hold a warrant to act on the Sovereigns behalf and are normally the sergeant major of a company (I, typically 3 platoons). It is an enigma to see a person in this rank that is not a veteran, as it can take as little as 10 years to reach this rank from enlistment.

Sergeant (SGT)
Widely considered the first 'senior NCO', a sergeant is normally the second-in-command of a platoon (•••, typically 3 squads). Additionally, at or above this level, persons are expected to teach and mentor subordinate leaders, and groom potentiol command candidates for their own role in the future.

Corporal (CPL)
The first rung in the non-commissioned officer strucutre, a corporal is normally the second-in-command of a squad (•, 8-12 soldiers). At or above this level, persons at this rank are often alternatively used in specialist appointments in groups such as headquarters elements, training cells, and support formations (ie. supply chain).

Private (PTE)
A sworn soldier of the Sovereignty, forming the rank-and-file of the Sovereign Army. These soldiers perform a range of jobs and trades, ranging from everything from the Sovereign Infantry Corps to the Sovereign Catering Corps.

Unranked
A civilian undergoing training and assessment to become a soldier in the Sovereign Army. Unranked soldiers are not held under oath to the Soverign Service and are within their rights to leave at any given time, although this will compromise future career opportunities where becoming a full-fledged citizen is concerned.
