Rank Requested: Captain
Reason: As an officer of his age would most likely be grasping this rank within their early thirties it made the most sense. However, from a tactical perspective, his repulsortank company would be much more effective with 16 vehicles than with 4. Furthermore as an up and coming talent from modest backgrounds most high command would rather have him stagnate as a company commander than show up the prize possessions of the aristocracy.
To attain the rank of captain would also fill a certain void of mid-ranking armoured officers that are at current lacking within the Imperial ranks of the military. Holding this rank allows for a further progression of Imperial land domination over all that may face our great empire. Within this idea a coalition of armoured assests could be more easily managed as Athan progresses through the rank structure to organise walker formations and other armoured detachments.
For a tertiary point, Athan would also be at the age and rank high enough to take on a junior officer under his tutorial but also not too old to the point of being assigned an administrative role and taken out of the fight.
