The Dragoons

DRAGOONS
MCzoByf.jpg

This is the informal name for the collection of privateers and fleet natives who carry out the most difficult missions to advance the cause of the Fleet. They will carry out espionage operations to secure their future, protect the Survey Corps as they gather resources from the most dangerous locations through to taking simple enforcement jobs for credits or to curry favour.

The Rogue Nation fleet is rarely popular wherever it resides and sometimes improving their image is the most worthwhile task they can carry out. A system might not immediately gather forces to move the Fleet on to the next sector if they're providing useful services. At times to Dragoons can be as much emissaries as special ops.

Leadership

What organisation there is can barely be approximated to a formal hierarchy. They are only estimated to be a hundred strong, with support drawn from within, or outside of the fleet. It takes a great deal of effort to keep the Fleet moving and few bodies can be spared. Planners, engineers, technicians are all taken from other positions around the Fleet as and when they're needed by the Dragoons. The opposite is also true. When Dragoons aren't on a mission they're often expected to pitch in around the Fleet. At least, those who expect food and lodgings are. Mercenaries drafted on rarely linger long after a job.

It is common knowledge that the duros Wesseq Turan controls the Dragoons. He reports directly to the Corellian representative on the Fleet Council. This is often a source of tension as it's seen as the Corellian acting on behalf of all the species that make up the fleet without their approval.

Wesseq is known to be a shrewd man. The operations he arranges often seem like a string of disconnected events and only when all the threads are pulled together does it become clear what he was hoping to achieve. This too can infuriate the council. It is common knowledge that many members of the Dragoons hold loyalties to their individual ships or their own species and will often report back on Dragoon activities. As long as no secrets leave the Fleet this is seen as a small price to pay to keep the Dragoons running.

Inso Khel - Aqualish Heavy

Like most of his species Inso has a relatively short temper. Yet he's actually considered a deep thinker among his own people. Around the fleet his deep voice is often heard mumbling a sarcastic comment as in anger. He will talk at great length about almost any sport and as such most avoid the topic entirely. It can make Inso quite agitated. Holds a relatively important position within the Aqualish contingent on the Fleet and his voice carries a great deal of weight there.

Braktek - Barabel mechanic

Braktek can handle himself, of that there is no question. The barabel carries a sawn off scattercannon that would take a human's arm clean off and his scales are resistant to blaster fire. However, he is one of the engineers assigned to the Dragoons - when the Fleet can spare him. He usually sees this as a break from being pushed into spaces his body wasn't designed for.

Hirrau - Nikto gunslinger

At times appearances are not deceiving. Hirrau is as angry as the scars on his face. His decisive nature is respected within the Dragoons and he is often found commanding small groups of troops. His ability to lead at squad level is never under question, but larger scaling planning is not his strength. Hirrau moves quickly across the battlefield, rarely staying in one piece of cover. In conversation he rarely stays on one topic for long and is quick to be dismissive of others.
