BELSAVIS - Alliance Outpost

"She gun kill us, Bill-Joe," freckled-face scowled, hands tightening on the steering of the stolen First Order's fighter. Bill-Joe's elbow was digging into her ribs and the second brother-brat's lap was digging into her thighs. To be fair, fighter cockpits were meant for one adult and not two kids and a teen.

Tongue clucked against the roof of her mouth as they exited hyperspace and into Alliance jurisdiction. There were all sorts of alarms lighting up the fighter's panel. Hadn't been easy escaping FO space. They'd taken a few heavy hits.

"Don't listen to yer brother, BJ," she grimaced as she heard the beginning sounds of a sob leave the six-year old's throat. Naomi pushed the throttle down, maneuvering in the tight-space between crowded limbs and sharp elbows.

Index finger flipped the comm switch to open a channel to the controller on the ground. Had to make sure they didn't fire them out of the sky. Hazel eyes looked at the readouts. Something was wrong. The comms weren't working.

"Dagum," the redhead swore. Must've been hit in their escape.

"Yup. We gun die," the twelve year-old seemed resigned as he sat scrunched up on her lap. BJ's hiccup-sob only added to the cacophony of sounds in the tight space.

"Stop antagonizing yer brother!" She hollered,"I've. Got. This."

Sweet collared greens and grits, hope I've got this. Mind churned, trying to think of a way to communicate with the ground before they got shot clear from the skies.

Their boots on the elephant tread deck beat out chaotic rhythm as the pilots rushed for the hangar. Wraith Squadron had drab, olive green uniforms. Nothing they wore was Alliance tech, they even used encryption specific to the SIS and would hard burn any Alliance codes from their vessels in the event of losing control.

"Ten credits the First Order won't follow," Wilson called out. They turned into the hangar to find their ships just arriving, raised up to the main deck from the maintenance bays below.

"They've got balls on them these days," Asmus retorted, "make it twenty."

"Alright rich boy, I'll see you this time."

The trio spread out and went for their individual vessels. Asmus had a unique prototype X-Wing, Chad a heavily modified Y-Wing that looked stock and Wilson his TIE Defender. The Subversion was about to revert to realspace on the edge of the system, an SIS contact informing them of what was inbound.

The Subversion

Medical Bay

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The beep of the medical monitor was an annoying tone to the bedraggled Lieutenant Commander laying prone on the medical trolley.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Mustafar had, let's just say,  not been the Rogue Pilot's best foray back into the scene of battle.  The running gag likely was that the youngest Rogue was the one most likely to get shot down;  it was dark humor amidst the knowledge that a majority of those starfighters rarely ever had any of their pilots walk out alive.  Choli was lucky.  How far her luck would take her, well, that was up to the Force and Fate.

She had several IV's and bio-patches on her.  Bruises here and there.  A few cracked ribs and broken bones.  The dip in the bacta tank would do her good, but even the sickly sweet miracle liquid had to be done in cycles.  Heal too fast and her bones might fuse back together incorrectly. Heal too slow, well, one would hope that she wouldn't die just yet.

Consciousness came in degrees.  She still did not know the full extent of her injuries.  Maybe that was for the best.

Flying Escort for Subversion

Rogue Eight had spent long amounts of time in the cockpit before.  Long battles tended to require pilots to do such.  This time, however, she was sure that she was coming up to her record.  She'd not left her cockpit since before the invasion had begun.  That included patrolling Barkhesh, travel time to Mustafar, a small skirmish in the larger Mustafar battle, and now the trip back into the reduced Alliance cordon.  She was running on stims and willpower at this point.

"Rogue Eight to Subversion.  My flight is ready for reversion to real space.  We've got point."  She reported.

With a simple retraction of a lever, they began to revert to real space above Belsavis.

The stolen First Order fighter was marginally like the cave swoops back home. Helped her to keep them alive this long. The view out of the grey-tinged canopy changed as she dipped them into upper atmosphere. A large boom hit the skies just below.

A warning shot from Alliance ground.

"I knew we shoulda stayed on Barkesh!" Tommy yelped. Naomi bit back a retort. Staying hadn't been an option. Their small town was destroyed. All alliance loyal citizens were being rounded up and put into re-education camps or executed.

Naomi only wished they'd had more time to see if their Ma and third brother were alive. But the Order didn't grant them that time. The cockpit shook as overtaxed sensors lit up again. "Dagum," she swore again. Six dots appeared on the glitching radar. Looked like a half squadron of First Order ships were ballsy or foolish enough to follow her. None too happy about their stolen property.

Now she had Alliance AND First Order to deal with.

Fingers jammed against her belt, pulling out a hydrospanner, keeping one hand on the controls. "Tommy. Take this and open that panel yonder," she passed the tool to the tween, taking over the controls with both hands. BJ was still crying something fierce.

If the Alliance saw the FO ships firing on one of their own, maybe they'd get a clue. If not, she had a back up plan that involved wires and an old transmission code. Until then, she was playing the dangerous game of dodge the death canons.

In some respects asmus saw this as a distraction. One of his old squadron - the baby of the unit - was in the medical ward on the Subversion and this took him away from there. Still, he knew when duty called. He'd been jabbering away at Choli when he'd been able to visit. He still wasn't sure how much had sunk in. She'd been through a tough time.

The most important thing to do now was not get shown up by his old squadron. The moment they reverted to realspace the hangar bay doors slid open. He pushed the lever to burn full throttle and the tractor assists shot his craft through the prow doors.

"I'm sorry, who's got point?" He called as Wraiths overtook the Rogue's forward Flight.

When the planetary sensors lit up like fire, the planet militia was immediately scrambled. The recent failed invasion had sent warning signals through the Galactic Alliance, and Belsavis was no different. Several friendly signals popped in, but the First Order was not far behind. Six FO ships seemed to jump into the system, and were following another craft. The Belsavis militia scrambled quickly, Valin prepping and launching in his custom modified E-Wing Starfighter. With a few clicks, his craft launched from the hanger into the sky itself. Several of his militia buddies launched as well, though most of them were younger men from the planet itself. Valin had the most experience piloting, and took point for the small militia squadron.

Valin's display showed a lone craft attempting to outrun the six other FO fighters, though it was not entirely obvious why that was. All sensory information in his E-Wing told him the lone craft was an FO ship itself, which honestly made no sense to him or his wing-mates. "Lets be careful of any ambushes, eh fellas? The First Order have a habit of appearing in large quantities quickly and without a single warning." Valin broadcast to his militia wing-mates. His radar showed other Alliance ships, and Valin paid careful attention to them as they rocketed towards the six other FO ships.

"Hang on," she hollered, bringing the fighter into a steep dive, then sharp bank starboard.  Controls shook in her hands as if in protest.  BJ yelled and Tommy grunted.  There was a sizzle-clank and a puff of smoke filled the crowded cockpit.

"Got yer panel open, ohhhh and I'm gonna be sick," Tommy moaned as blaster fire skirted off their left side.  Hazel-eyes screwed up, squinting at the sensors.  She couldn't tell if it was First Order fire or Alliance.

"Tommy, don't think about yer belly.  Get those two wires right there.  Yeah, blue and yellow and press 'em together.  Yup, like that.  Three short times and then hold 'em longer for three times, then three short.  Got it?  Just repeat."  Stars, the last thing she could deal with was the smell of vomit in a cockpit.  It was an older code but it should translate to Alliance somewhere.  She hoped it would.

S.O.S

Tight hands yanked their stolen fighter back up, more fire lancing just to miss their stern.

"Signature from that ship isn't good!" Asmus called over the comms.

"Getting some odd interference. Think they're fluctuating...wait that's not random. That's a regular old fashioned radio pulse, broadband. They're putting a lot of power into it, their comms must be down or jammed," Wilson replied.

Asmus pushed his throttle to the limit. They were outnumbered, but only just. That meant for Wraith Squadron the odds were squarely in their favour.

Stolen vessel and pursuing half squad of FO: http://starwarsrp.ne...order +fighters

More laser cannons bounced off what little shielding she had left. Thick, black smoke began billowing from one of their starboard wings. "NAOMI!" Tommy yelped.

"I see!" Lips pursed as her arms tightened, double barrel rolling them port and down. The entire cockpit shook and her arms strained with the effort to pull them from the dive. All she could hear were her brothers' sobs and the screeching system alarms from the panel.

But the ground had stopped firing. Could mean the alliance got their old code. Or could mean alliance fighters were inbound. Hard to tell on the taxed instrument panel.

"Keep tapping those wires, Toms," she ordered.

"I will if you ain't get us killed."

"Working on it!"

With a sudden switch in speed, she dropped them. One of the pursuing First Order defenders overshot ahead and she opened fire with the remaining canon. It was clear the teen was going down. Might as well take one out with them. Give 'em more of a chance if she could land them on the snow banks below without blowing up.

Sitting in his Y-Wing, waiting for the call to launch, though in a dog fight the Y-Wing was terrible. It was far more suited to bombing runs or attacks on capital ships, still if the support was needed then Garven would launch to help the X-Wings of Rogue squadron. Checkers was sitting in the Y-Wing as well being unusually quiet, it wasn't normal for the droid, but Garven could understand since they were on ready 5, so it was tense but again nothing the pair was used to. If things got worse they would be launched, but if it was just fighters like Garven had heard there wouldn't be a need to launch him and his wingmen.

"Checkers did you make those repairs to the ship?"

"Beep beep, chirp."

"Alright good....and no I'm not questioning you, just wanted to make sure it was done."

"Boop beep chirp, beep."

"Don't say that, I trust your ability to get things done, just don't want something to go wrong and we crash."

"Ive got the lead vessel!" Asmus called over the comm. He opened an open channel to the ship that was being pursued, knowing the enemy fighters would hear every word.

"If you can hear me, just give the engines everything you've got and try and find an orbital velocity if you can. We'll deal with your friends."

Asmus turned in and fired a warning shot at the lead Defender. The stream of repeater fire swept in and push the fighter away from its quarry. The Wraith pilot knew he had a serious edge in a agility here, but needed to keep alert. These fighters had teeth.

"Sir! Hyperspace reversion!"

"One of ours?" Asmus called.

"No sir. Not First Order either."

The old Sith Empire cruiser came to an abrupt halt in space high above the maximum security prison.

"Rogue Squadron, Ghost Squadron, Gold Squadron, engage that cruiser. Wraith Squadron keep on those Defenders!" Came a direct order from Flight Commander Odennus.

"Rogue Squadron, Ghost Squadron, Gold Squadron, engage that cruiser. Wraith Squadron keep on those Defenders!"

"Damn it all to..."  She stopped herself and pressed a stud on her flight suit that administered a stim pactch to her.  Almost instantly, a flood of endorphins and adrenaline inducing chemicals surged into her system.  "You heard the man, Rogues form up!"  She said as she pulled back on the stick and ditched any lingering pretense for stealth as she and her wingmates went nearly vertical and leapt for space like a pack of hungry vornskr.

"Alright Rogues, check your loadouts.  I've got four brilliants in my loadout still, and I'm good on fuel for the moment." She said over comms.  Her readout showed that most of her wingmates were the same.  She switched channels to the Subversion carrier.  "Rogue Eight to Subversion, we need some heavy hands out here for this cruiser.  We can keep the mice clear if you can have someone come in and pound it."  She told them as her command flew past the carrier in the opposite direction.  Fighters belched forth from the Sith Empire cruiser, and Rogue Squadron fanned out to cover their sector.

"Gold 2 copies launching to engage the cruiser."

Garven's Y-Wing lifts off from the hanger floor and launches out, his wingmen of Gold 4 and Gold 8 followed shortly behind him. The three Y-Wings started to fly towards the cruiser. This was something they were suited for.

"Alright follow my lead in, use ion torpedoes first then take out their generators. Lets disable this cruiser so Rogue Squadron can get some damage in."

Affirmatives were sent back by Gold 4 and 8 as the three started to close on the cruiser. The three Y-Wings launched their ion torpedoes at the cruiser, which was followed up by a nice bombing run on one of the shield generators, though the cruiser's engines were disabled from the ion torpedoes, it's shield still where active, the bomb run was effective but didn't destroy the generator. It was only a matter of time before the rest of the fleet engaged the cruiser.

There was a crackle over her broken comms and for a second she heard a man's voice. Seemed to be someone in the alliance. With a whoosh, a fighter like a ghost zipped by their viewport. Head craned to see the fire at the First Order ships. White-knuckled grip remained on the controls as the alarms lit up the three faces of the Carolina kids. Smoke still bloomed from one of their fighter's wings but there was a respite in the attacks.

"I think it worked, sis," Tommy breathed. BJ stopped most of his sniffling but he was fearfully quiet. It did work but they were still going down.

Naomi grit her teeth.

The icy-white landscape below looked anything but soft. Fingers shot over the controls. Hands tightened the stretched crash webbing around all three of em. The teen evened them out the best she could. Leveled them out the best she could and slowed them out the best she could. And made for as close to the alliance outpost as best she could.

"Brace each other!"

The ground rushed up to meet them.

Belsavis

Hangar 23

Xel rushed through the white halls of the base.

He was already in one of the flight suits that the Alliance had issued him and two his his squadmates were similarly tromping along the hall not far behind them. His gaze briefly jumped towards them, though of course neither of them actually had any idea of what was going on. The alarm was sounding and that meant get to your ships.

Ghost Squadron so far had yet to see any action, at least since they'd come together. Their unit was one that had been formed of half a dozen different origins, some from Gold Squadron, some from Blue and even a few from the fabled Rogues. Yet they had all ended up in the hospital, and after their treatment they'd come to Ghost. Their cybernetic augments and the new flight suits made them perfect for more...daring escapades, and thus their role as Heavy Fighter support had been born.

Of course he had no idea if that would be necessary today. "Any idea what's going on?"

He asked as they suddenly turned and entered the hangar.

"Someone's attacking."

Was the only answer that he got form the engineer before he and his two mates were quickly rushed towards their fighters. The great B-Wings lingered near the exit of the hangar bay, folded flat and simply awaiting their pilots. Xel wasted no time, quickly rushing into his place and beginning pre-flight checks before the massive engines began to whine.

The alliance outpost was also near a high security prison. It wasn't where he would have chosen to land himself. Then again, the pilot of the crashing vessel didn't seem to have much in the way of choice.

His targeting computer beeped with increasing cadence. The Defender closest to the down ship's tail was angling as if to make an attack run and finish the job.

"Come on, come on," Asmus mumbled. The beeps became a whine and he thumbed the release. "Missile away!"

The concussion missile struck the defender square in the engine exhausts and it broke apart into debris and scattered across the ice fields.

Valin's E-Wing screamed across the snow-struck landscape, the engines pulling at maximum. His fellow militia-mates, all in their own star-fighters of different design, were happy to follow their squad leader. Noticing laser fire and the occasional explosion in the distance, Valin checked his comms for surrounding squadrons. It would appear today would be most interesting, as the Galactic Alliance's ace pilots were out in the skies today. Furthermore, comms showed that something big had just warped into the system up top. Were they being invaded? "Alright boys, lets show these First Order bastards how the militia works!" Once they were in range, the militia wing opened fire on any First Order fighters in the vicinity. His fellow militia-mates were not exactly crack shots, but they could at least provide cover of sorts to Wraith Squadron.

Rogue Squadron hit the TIE fighters like a brick.  There was no hesitancy in the shift of momentum, as the advanced X-Wings fired on the older designs of TIEs, they advanced, and the TIEs in front of them withered like grapes on the vine in the sun.  Behind them came Gold Squadron, who made for the hull of the enemy cruiser and began to take out weapon emplacements.

Alyce bounced her X-Wing up a few meters as a TIE came in from her port side.  Its fire raced through the space she had just left, and one of her wingmates lined up a shot and blasted through the offending fighter.  Alyce had moved on by then, taking on the next TIE in line and sending  barrage of alternating cannon fire through the unlucky bastard as they tried to line up a shot on yet another of her wingmates.  Her bolts went through the solar panels on one side and cut through the strut holding the ones on the other side as well.  The ball cockpit in between continued its momentum, but with the power source cut away, it had no way of controlling where it went.  A bolt from another Rogue had it blown apart moments later.

Then they were through the TIE screen, angling down on the enemy cruiser behind Gold Squadron.  The flank elements of the TIEs came around and began to pursue Rogue Squadron, but were out of mind for the moment as they aimed for the bridge of the cruiser.

"Alright Rogues, let's take out that bridge."  She said over comms.  She centered her targetting reticle on the center of the bridge and flew ever closer.

"Naomi," Tommy screamed. Dazed-hazels slowly re-focused on the shattered glass of the fighter's viewport. There was a rush of cold air and ice to the right. Sluggishly, the redhead turned her head. One of their wings had completely ripped off, leaving a gaping hole. The other wing was billowing with black smoke. The sound of rushing fighters above made her snap too as an explosion of one of the FO ships happened none too far away.

Someone in the Alliance just saved their lives.

"C'mon," hands fumbled with the crash webbing around her family. With a snapping yank, they were free. She helped Tommy to the ground, then handed over six-year old BJ. Her own boots crunched in the icy-snow quickly after.

There was a roaring scream above. Head twisted and she swore, grabbing a blaster from the cockpit and tumbling back to the ground.

"Goooo! Go, go, go!" She yelled at Tommy, coppery-hair whipping in the wind around her freckled-face as she turned and held the blaster up, firing shots at the incoming fighter. Her own feet began to backpedal, covering her brothers. Well, trying to. There wasn't anywhere to run or hide. They weren't close enough to the alliance outpost or whatever that other building was with the barbed wire.

It was a nearly endless ice-snowy field of death.
