Always more than glad to have the company of her siblings, Marriskcal turned towards Stephen with a warm smile, greeting the older male’s appearance by lifting her glass lightly. Never much of a drinker, the three sips that she has imbibed was more than enough to send a slow burn coursing through her veins and mellowing her out. And with the joyous cheer of the room slowly permeating her person, the blonde was in a merry mood to tease and cause mischief.

Why~ Thank you for your kind words. You look rather handsome yourself,” she returned his compliment with an approving nod at his ensemble. An invisible weight was lifted off her shoulders as she stepped up to her newly acquainted brother and grinned up at him. Ever since the campaign on Dorvalla, Marriskcal has been haunted by a faint sense of guilt at her brusqueness towards the older male and has been hoping for a chance to make it up to him.

I am glad to see that you were able to make it.” While she could sense the bright presences of her other two brothers, she was content to wait for awhile before greeting them now that a victim has served himself up to her.

Coming from someone as beautiful as yourself, it makes my heart flutter,” he bantered back without missing a beat. And Marr is beautiful, with her halo of gold hair and those wide blue eyes looking up at him.

If it wasn’t for the fact that Dracrowar recognized her Force presence and saw her on the battle field himself, he wouldn’t have thought that she was part of the Ren. Not to mention the way she was acting on Dorvalla was almost the direct opposite of how she was acting now. The difference the Marr of back then and the Marr of now caught his interest.

Dracrowar took a sip of his drink, enjoying the way the rich and smoky flavor slid smoothly over his tongue and down his throat. “I’m not one to miss a party, especially when the food and alcohol is paid for. And with a companion by my side, it’s twice as enjoyable,” he gave her a grin of his own. “Speaking of which, do you or any of the others have any plans for the next few days?

Typically it wasn’t common for troopers in the army to report to the Director of the FOSB, but when issues of security and protection came up then it was possible for some members of the armed forces to find themselves serving under the behest of someone as terrible as the titular Major. After spending some time in the service of the First Order there was a peculiar reputation which had developed -or fermented, some might say- around the painfully enigmatic woman. Her commands tended to have high casualty rates, and this was further exacerbated by her propensity to actually enter into fights or battles at the lead.

So when this particular trooper wasn’t exactly eager to squirm his way out of the conversation the Major was, needless to say, intrigued.

Then she smelled some alcohol on his breath as he spoke. Maybe that was the source of this trooper’s Corellian Courage.

“If I could explain that adequately I’d no doubt seek out a career in publications. Some say it’s an ancient tradition from eons ago, others maintain it is simply a corporate scheme to encourage sales and trade, and still others go on about interdimensional beings seeping across tears in the very fabric of spacetime, bringing ideas and eldritch knowledge to define our destiny. Hah.” She ironically huffed, taking a glass from a server and sniffing at the red contents gingerly.

“Why do you think we celebrate?”

Daan Sarnova

Hoth Surface, Equatorial Area, Grand Hotel & Ski Resort, Lobby

Nearby: Natasi Fortan, The Major, Stephen Dracrowar, @Marrisckal Lati,FN-999, Tanomas Graf

Natasi's comment about putting Daan onto a propaganda poster combined with the corresponding gesture drew a brief albeit charmed chuckle from the latter, humbly lowering her head and eyes towards the floor under the weight of such praise from a woman who Daan deeply admired. "I'm afraid I don't take good pictures Misis Fortan." Daan sheepishly admitted, it is a reflection of her own self-consciousness that lingered in spite of her newfound role as a Special Forces Operator. There was a certain sadness that hung over the former Xenoarcheologist as if she had held onto the perception of failing something or somebody of deep personal importance.

Daan feels strands of her sanguine hair shift softly under the Grand Moff's touch, steadily the Lieutenant Colonel's Emerald Green spheres rise from their affixation on the carpet to meet Natasi's gaze once more; her red cheeks flushed red slightly from embarrassment. Daan had never truly become a hardened or cold warrior even throughout her training and deployments which some found refreshing while others such as Admiral Rausgeber viewed the woman as staggeringly naive and overly trusting due to her lack of outward cynicism.

Returning Natasi's smile she composed herself into a cool presentation before speaking. "Thank you Ma'am, it means a lot to me." Daan beamed for a moment, she had heard through some friends in the woman's office of her Husband's tragic passing and thought for a moment on whether or not to politely offer some condolences. Daan's left-hand finds a perch over her breast roughly where her heart could be found between the teal fabric that is her dress. "My apologies if I overstep but I wanted to offer my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your husband. I imagine that must be extremely difficult, just remember that you have friends within the Order and your own Staff who are more than happy to lend you an ear should it be sought."

Bowing head slightly in Natasi's direction and dropping hand by her side, Daan recalled spotting Tanomas Graf a man who had previously been a traitor but somehow secured an invitation to the Life Day celebrations? Such an elderly man might offer up some political and civic wisdom she thought with his experiences. "Mister Graf is here, shall we go and say hello? He looked rather lonely and sad." Daan's concern for the man could warm Natasi to see that despite the woman's new occupation she hadn't lost any of her 'humanity' and concern for other sentients. Daan's interest in Anthropology and Archeology had been driven in a search for knowledge of her surroundings to which Daan is ever studying.

FN-999 was once again surprised that his far greater superior had addressed him.

When she asked why he thought this day was celebrated, it completely shocked him. So he began thinking. There was not much he knew of the galaxy beyond the First Order's borders. He had been in battle in countless fronts against countless enemies, yet survived every time by some miracle. The squad under him had been replaced nearly a dozen times, yet its leader had lived through it all.

Focusing back on the question, FN-999 wondered for the first time why such a time of year was celebrated. Loosened restrictions, the mood of a holiday, huge quantities of beer. It had always been something the trooper had taken for granted, a well-deserved break from his time in the warfront. But now, he dove deeper. What could cause such an event, much more than a paid leave? Perhaps it was the memory of a battle or general, but he had heard neither mentioned. Then, a memory flew back to him from the previous day.

"Life Day! I can't wait to get off my shift and get on some ladies." one of FN-999's superiors had said as FN-999 and his squad marched behind them.

"Me too!" replied another officer walking along with the first one. "Thank the Force for creating such a great galactic holiday!"

FN-999 zoned back in. The officer had described this "Life Day" as a galactic holiday. Which meant the reason for celebration wasn't an act of the First Order. The name of Life Day gave him another clue, as life was definitely something worth celebrating. As the words combined in his head, he finally realized.

"Is it because of all the life in our galaxy and honoring it, ma'am?" asked the trooper, stuttering only briefly.

Perhaps the beer had given him a form of confidence he never had before, while only a small part of him remained terrified of punishment.

The Tetan lingered near a group of officers, whose names she couldn't put the effort to commit to memory, for a little while longer. Several of them were much older than her, one of them a bloated old coot that was quite a bit more interested in his liquor and beguiling them with his stories of taking part in naval excursions, the other two older fellows were clearly enjoying every bit of this and were more than happy to interject with their own anecdotes with the parts they played in moments they purportedly recognized. Their wives, for their part, were several paces away and were gossiping about this and that - and about how wonderful this party was, despite their keenness to criticize everyone attending at every opportunity, albeit in hushed whispers amidst laughs and drinks. There were a few women and men around her age, most of whom seemed to be floating about as she was, though they seemed more intent on networking and brown nosing than simply passing the time before their trip out into the cold.

A servant passing by with a tray of freshly poured glasses of champagne made their way by, which Lily quietly took advantage of to replace her now-empty flute with a filled one. If it was one thing she was enjoying, it was the slow ease of stress fading away. Nothing dangerous, no angry yelling or emotional shouting matches, just a few good glasses of champagne and the company of some far more egotistical people than her. If it was one thing she'd take away from this, it was that even royalty can meet its match at being catty. She did have to hand it to the Grand Moff, though - the decor and the event itself was quite a treat. It wasn't nearly as fun as the cruise she'd stowed away on when she was still in the immature phase of her fun with Graush, but it was definitely something she was glad she had taken part in, even if it was mostly to drink and unwind.

Her eyes widened almost imperceptibly for a moment. Though it was a compliment, the young woman found herself unsure if the other was serious or was it merely an attempt at flustering her. His casual confidence and effusive words made it hard for her to tell and whatever his intentions were, Stephen succeeded in bringing a hint of rose to her features. Marriskcal averted her gaze and echoed her brother and took another sip of her mulled wine to escape having to answer him.

When the older male continued to speak, the blonde gratefully took the opportunity that was given to her. “Everything is more fun with another person to share it with,” she agreed, as she was not one who ever liked to be alone. “And I do not have anything planned yet, but I am definitely going to look over all the options her ladyship has kindly arranged for us. If you do not mind accompanying me as I explore and perhaps ending up as my pack tauntaun, you are more than welcome to join me,” she quipped, the lilt of her words filled with mischief.

"Is it because of all the life in our galaxy and honoring it, ma'am?" Replied the trooper.

A wide, warm smile spread across the Major’s red and black speckled cheeks at the trooper’s response.

“That sounds like as good an answer as any.” It would have been rude if she outright stated that she was bored with this conversation. It would have also been untrue. Sadly, there were some other people present that required just a word in their ear before the true festivities began. With that in mind the woman was looking past the trooper and scanning the crowd.

“Let’s chat more a little later after you’ve had more time to relax, ey? Excuse me.”

She maneuvered around the man and joined a bigger crowd near the center floor. It was always easy for her to move in such a way that rendered irrelevant or hard to spot. Eventually this kind of craft enabled her to come up behind one Tanamas Graf, where she at first hissed in a kind of whisper.

“Hey. Probably should have a word before this evening… develops any further.”

Natasi frowned at Daan DT-130, not quite understanding what the woman was saying, but then turned and followed her gaze to where the traitor Tanomas Graf was standing. "I rather think not," said Natasi flatly. "Would you excuse me, Daan? I've just spied someone I must speak with." This 'someone' was the Empress of Teta, a woman whose loose connection to the First Order was not obvious to Natasi, but whose reputation preceded her nonetheless. Natasi imagined that the Empress of the notoriously stratified Tetan aristocracy was something of a kindred spirit; it was not unlike Galidraan's social system if Natasi's understanding was correct.

The Grand Moff placed her empty champagne flute on the tray of a passing waiter, exchanging it for a fresh one, and approached the Empress, nodding greetings and exchanging well-wishes with people along the way. When she finally came within range of Lily Kuhn, the Grand Moff offered a respectful but not quite subordinating bob of her head. "Your Majesty -- welcome. I'm so pleased you could attend. Do you have everything you would wish?"

The small group that she had lingered around had made their way away and Lily had returned to her mostly private musings, only to catch a glimpse of the Grand Moff as she strode towards her. She flashed a smile with practiced moderation, not quite too excited but also not dull or forced, and gave a steep nod in appreciation.  "I am glad I was able to make it, myself. I don't believe there is much I could ask for, honestly," Lily replied in turn, although she nearly entertained the idea of making a quip in reference to A'sharad and his absence. "I trust you are enjoying the festivities yourself, Madame Fortan? Having a child has made me appreciate soirees such as these so much more, to be quite frank." She said, making a gesture somewhat indicative of the party at large. "I don't want to bore you with details about the little one, though. I can say, however, that I am very appreciative that I have had the opportunity to be here." Lily added.

She took a short sip from her champagne glass, then paused, as if in thought. "I've been meaning to ask if there was anything I could do to help support the First Order in a more tangible way." She said, trying to come up with an ample way to describe exactly what it was she meant in a more elegant phrasing. "An odd request, and out of place, I'm sure, but the idea has been at the back of my mind all day - hearing all of these stories from the military types about their services, and from a few of the bureaucrats regarding their hours in the office." She explained. "I'll be in a position to be going back to work, soon, but I have things running rather smoothly as far as my own corporate dealings are concerned, and my role in my own government is largely done quarterly aside from the scarce chance an emergency springs up."

"I do suppose you probably don't want to talk about such serious matters during the party, though."
