Luria - Port Midway

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"Seems festive, don't it?" Kinsey looked back at her barabel companion. Good ol' Thrukk. He jumped at the chance when he'd heard about the heist. Edge of Sith Empire space. Hollinium factory. The sprawling city with those factories lay between the forests and legendary flatlands.

All that green.

Seemed festive.

Thrukk grunted as he worked with the spacer to pilot the YT-1300f light freighter down on the landing pad with a slight jolt. Sharp teeth glinted as he grinned. "Oy," hand smacked against his scaly arm.

Hurt her more than him.

"This is a rental. Be careful. Sides, we got others on board."

Guns for hire. Looked like Kinsey and Thrukk weren't the only ones a bit short on creds for Life Day. The others were on board with the chance that more would be waiting in the very port they'd just landed in.

Zee wasn't much for cash. Hell's bells he wasn't much for anything. He was the epitome of boredom. His master let him a long leash and so he often found himself wandering the galaxy. Many times for weeks on end with nothing to do. He supposed life as a slave to a Sith lord could be worse, but he wished he could've at least got a better ship. A simple old Imperial Tie fighter, with codes to match made sure he could wander Sith space unmolested. But, despite his "loyalty" to the Sith he found mischief and mayhem to be the funnest things to do and Sith space, ironically, to be the place where he'd surfer the least amount of repercussions.

So he meandered through the small spaceport aimlessly whilst gawking at strange lifeforms from all over the galaxy. After an hour of wandering he found the docking bay he was supposed to meet this Kinsey woman in. He watched as what he assumed to be her ship cascaded down in a not so graceful decent to the platform below. The freighter ramp lowered with a snap hiss and billows of hydraulic steam. Zoltan sighed and decided to meet the woman before she could exit the ship.

He entered the old freighter and took a gander around. It was surprisingly quite the kark hole, for a rental at least. Zee kicked a can of half eaten portions and smirked. He headed towards the cockpit and was taken aback by an ugly alien whose teeth looked like they could easily saw through bone."Er... Miss Kinsley I take it?" It let out a guttural barking laugh and then with thumb pointed to a petite woman on his side. Zee peeked over the aliens shoulder and smiled "Ahh much better!" He shouted and then attempted to embrace her as if they were old friends. "So, when do we begin friend?"

The ship shuddered under Riley's feet as it made a less then graceful landing. Regardless, the small tremors did little to distract her from checking her equipment. Duel ssk-5 icon blaster pistols, check. Extra power cells and gas canisters, also check. From there, she moved on to grenades and armor. Once satisfied, she left the side storage area she had claimed as her space for the trip and headed towards the cockpit.

She grabbed her Mandalorian style helmet and gave it a quick glance before putting it on. That was the one thing, other than her armor, that she never let anyone see her without. The large number of cybernetic and prosthetic replacements made her self conscious around others, but she was getting better. Even her social skills had improved, now talking to others wasn't so...awkward.

Riley came to a stop right before she reached the cockpit. Standing there with Kinsley and Thrukk was a new face. Another fortune seeker like herself, she guessed. Well, fortune seeker may have been to grand a term in this cause. She was mainly here to get paid, not a lot, just enough to keep going.

Loadout:

He strode through the Port in a clammering mess of movement, leg's caught between each other as a drunken slumber took his breath away. His words a faint snore but caught and cusped beneath the rag-tag conglomeration that was his transport. Four burly men he had hired had lofted him high above their shoulders, Thraxis struggling and swaying limbs left limp in the air as he mumbled in incoherencies, from Huttese to Gammorese he muttered, dark vivid dreams taking his mind as the crew slowly entered through a door with perilous results, ignoring intentionally the easier way if only to give an excuse to bump his head with a grating 'thwak' against the roof.

But they didn't last long in this narrative, they saw the Barbel, they had less than a surly reputation. In fact, they had a reputation for savagery and being some of the best in a barfight in part to the fact some were known to drop their tail and bludgeon a man or woman to death. In another fact, that Human's in a Barfight had fists, and Barbel had Claws, Teth and again, the ability to drop their tail and once more, bludgeon you to death with it. But that didn't matter too much, the group took a few steps back, one of their voices a boom as he spoke, defined by years of hard cigars and heavy work. "Uh... We are... This here is Thraxis. He told us to drop him here." The man stated as they quickly moved out from the room, a mess of movement and pushes as Thraxis body was left limp and tired on the floor.

Most of his body was wrapped and coiled in his Jikti Greatcoat, but a lingering sensation of true unease shifted and rolled out from a bag that only loosely hanged outside of the coat. On the back of his coat, a small white letter was written on in a very similar vein to how a child might write sat with a stretch of glue to his coat, reading the following. Wake me up with Sonic weaponry when needed. Or wait for me to wake up. I dunno something. It was shocking that the literacy had such decent spelling, but nonetheless, Thraxis was on the ship, in the middle of the room beneath a giant coat asleep and with a dreaded sense of unease lingering from around him.

It wasn't that Laura was short on Life Day creds. Far from it, actually. She'd profited a fair bit from her Dad's total commitment to the lightside, where he'd renounced most of his worldly possessions and now wandered the galaxy. She now owned his business portfolio, most of his starships (apart from one of the stealth fighters and his Star Destroyer which was hidden in a nebula somewhere in the Unknown Regions), his various properties (unfortunately the manor on Sullust had ate it during the death throes of the Galactic Alliance). Nope, she didn't need the creds. However, she did hollinium. It was a rare substance and expensive as all heck. Laura figured it was better to steal it from Sith then to pay for it herself.

Besides, she was bored.

She was clad in her usual adventure garb. Tight dark green pants with a blaster pistol strapped to her right leg, and her lightsaber concealed under her Dad's old Army jacket. The ponytail she was rocking meant it was business time; and the wild look in her green eyes? That meant it was fun time too.

The adventurous young woman made her way through the spaceport, stopping to buy a stick of suspicious looking street meats from a vendour, and pushed her way through the crowd of aliens and humans. No one accosted her ... maybe it was the dangerous look in her eye? The docking bay that this chick Kinsey had sent her wasn't too hard to find, and when she did ... YT1300f? Seriously? She rolled her eyes. Of course they did.

She strolled aboard, stepping over a comatose individual wrapped in a huge coat and made her way to the cockpit. Her eyes appraised the inside of the ship as she walked. Okay, so it wasn't too bad, but there was still a list of modifications she would have liked to make ... strange, there were no apparent modifications to this bad boy. A rental then? She pondered that as she arrived at the cockpit, where a group of people awaited her. There was one dude there who was trying to hug a small chick (probs Starchaser), and then there was another chick clad head-to-toe in armour (probs the badass of the group), and then there was the big alien dude. Couldn't miss him.

"What up?" she said. "I'm Laura."

Everyone was offered a crisp high five.

"Which one of you is Starchaser?" Laura smirked. "Rental, eh? That's a bold move, Kinsey. Let's see if it pays off."

The stranger who had the gal's balls to board her ship, HER ship, would find himself hugging the seat and not her. Who did he think she was?

"Whoa. Watch those hands of yours, pal-ee," she smirked as she side-stepped him so she wouldn't be pinned in anywhere. Fingers rested against her belt, casually close to the hilt of her side arm. But not on it. For Kark's sake she was a professional.

"Maybe hugs after the job, yah?"

But really it would probably just be a....

And suddenly the ship got crowded. Hand got a nice crisp high five. That was more appropriate, right? Even from that girl with the chit-eating grin. Thrukk snuffled through his snout. Could be a laugh. Kins wasn't always sure with him.

Blues narrowed at Laura, lopsided grin pulling at her own mouth. Rental.

"What gave her away? The standard fresher hanging over the counsel?" It was a Nabooian evergreen, that.

"Yup. I'm Kinsey. This is Thrukk from the Vagrant Fleet. We've got Laura. That's Riley." A quiet companion but definitely the badarse of the group. "Looks like that pile is Thraxis." Toe of her boot nudged the pile's shoulder.

Smelled a bit like puke and Tauntaun piss.

Kinsey grimaced and turned to the man who looked eerily like Armaud.

"You must be Zoltan? Got ID badges for you folks back there. You'll have your pick of factory worker role. Will someone wake that guy up already?" Easing around them, the explorer went toward the entrance, pulling open a side panel and dumped a bunch of ID badges on one of the acceleration couches.

The ship was starting to get crowded, and fast. First, a drunk man was carried into the ship and dumped on the floor. He was out cold enough that Riley was sure the man wasn't aware of his surroundings, maybe not even if he was awake.

Her gaze then turned to the next person to enter the vessel. A woman who greeted them with great excitement and bubbled with enthusiasm. She gave everyone a high five and introduced herself. This action caused Riley to look at her hand momentarily, as if she was somewhat confused about the gesture.

The curiosity was short lived as Kinsey directed them all towards the entrance. Once there, she dumped a bunch of ID badges onto a couch and explained that the were to fill the role of a factory worker. This kinda worried Riley some, as in the fact that she might be seen without her armor. "So, we're going under cover in order to get a sense of the place?"

Zee hugged what he assumed was the woman with a tremendous bear vice. By god she was thin, yet supple, like a plush... Zee opened his eyes to find that he was hugging a leather chair... Again he had made a fool of himself, but somehow he did not mind. His anger kept in check. Probably the lingering effects of the glitterstim he had taken earlier. He wasn't a consistent user, but when the nice stranger offered him a bag of what he had assumed to be literal spices for a small lump sum Zee knew that it had to be good stuff. Still the vibrant colors he occasionally saw still let him know he had been wrong in putting the so called spices onto his Bantha steak. But, then again maybe the food had just been spoiled.

Zee smiled at the chair and turned as if he hadn't just hugged an inanimate object and watched as the newcomers came in. First was a woman clad in armor. Yes, she most certainly was a fearsome sight. A warrior if he ever saw one. It unnerved his manhood for but a moment, but surely he was made of the same steel that clad her own armor. And so, he simply smiled despite his frayed spice addled nerves.

Then came a gagle of aliens who dropped a pile of laundry onto the floor that reeked of despair, loathing, and madness. It was delicious and zee couldn't help but reach out with the force and pet the man's mind. For true it was a beautifully disgusting thing. Zee's smile grew even larger.

Then came one who seemed to do things like this often. Zee thought she had probably been boosting cars since she was but a lowly urchin. Something in the eyes. Regardless she seemed nice as she offered them all high fives, though Zee would have preferred a hug. He returned the favor and followed the others into the next room.

Kinsey dumped a large amount of ID's onto the sofa and Zoltan picked up the first one. Custodial Engineer... A Janitor. Zoltan quietly placed the ID on Thraxis's comatose body and picked a new one. Regional manager. Now this was more Zoltan's speed. He had always wanted to own his own business, now he was regional manager. It truly was a dream come true...

Green eyes danced to the fresher, danced back to Kinsey, and then she went with what she thought was a confident smile. Oh. She'd missed the dang fresher. It wouldn't pay to share her talent for picking up ship's details with people she didn't know, so she went with it.

"Uhhhh yup. That's it." Nice one, Laura. Couldn't have deflected that one more awkwardly if you tried.

The ID badges were a welcome distraction. Laura picked one at random. Her ability to instinctively navigate often got her in the right place or right position at the right time, so she dropped her hand into the pile and pulled one out. An untrained observer would call it luck, but it wasn't. It was the Force, which occasionally worked through her in ways she didn't understand, but trusted nonetheless. She held the lanyard over her head so she could read the laminated card.

"Systems technician. Nice!" She didn't hang around, instead heading off towards the rec room. "I'm going to find the dejarik table. There's always one on these rust buckets."

Laura disappeared down the hall, her voice echoing back to the entrance.

"Is there food on this thing?!"

His mind blemished and fruitful of woe and despair, a single form in a dream wandered through endless hallways, looking down mirrors that lead to infinity and aloft his shoulders carried garbage bags. It was that dream again, the mundane meeting the extraordinary, though it was cut short. His mind frazzled and bent, the reality of the dream seems to split and concave in strange forms as he was met with the familiar sight of the floor of a rented ship.

He moved a little, checking to make sure none of his limbs had become phantoms before feeling something tiny drop on his back he scurried a tiny movement, the sound of grating Phrik on durasteel floorboards as he slowly dragged himself into a corner of the room, pulling the tag and reading it allowed.  "Custodial... Engineer?" His words tinged with confusion as he slowly pulled his head up to look at those gathered around. His face was masked with a Visor that was mangled and bent with deep scars, a mass of electric green covering his eyes as he looked around, the movements indicating some confusion.

It was all starting to slip into place, the lights that night, the holo and everything else. His words a mimicry of pain that seeped from a broken modulator, "What did I sign up for..." He muttered, pulling his Jikti Greatcoat over him to cover his body in its entirety as he tried to retire to sleep.

Kinsey turned to Riley. "Wouldn't get very far if we started out guns a'blazin. We may be on the edge of Sith Empire space but we're still in it." Didn't mean they wouldn't end guns blazin. And thank the stars they were on the fringe of TSE space. Would mean while there would be Sith enforcement about, it wouldn't be half of what they'd find in the core.

"But you can always be the one to come pick us up. Bail us out. Drive the get-away repulsor truck."

Kinsey shrugged and grabbed an ID.

Refinery Transporter.

Perfect.

The girl inherited her uncle's knack for being able to fly or work anything. Including a fork lift. Clipping the badge on, she hollered at Laura. "Some ration packs back there. It'll come outta your cut, though!" Better not take the last cheesy noodles one. Thrukk grabbed a security guard one. Seemed fitting.

"Whatever you're gonna eat, get it to go. Our shift starts in the next ten minutes. Let's go," the spacer motioned back out of the freighter. "OY, Thraxis. Move it or lose it."

Lose the job that was.

Kinsey waltzed down the ramp, Starchaser blues scanning the port casually, noting the bit of security there.

Riley knew Kinsey was right, it was just her own anxiety getting to her. That was just something she was going to have to suck it up and deal with it. She looked down at the ID card in her hand. A dock worker, that was better than she thought it would be.

She held the card firm in her hand as she followed Kinsey down the ramp. First thing she'd half to do is obtain a uniform, which seemed easy enough around this place. Reaching up, she pulled off her helmet and attached it to her belt. Her cybernetic eyes readjusting to the world as the green iris's glowed like fire in a sea of black.

She turned her attention to Kinsey as the reached the bottom of the ramp. "I'll find myself a uniform. Then see what's at the loading docks."

Kinsey's comment about the shift starting in ten minutes brought Laura to a screeching halt. She turned immediately and walked back to the entrance, stomach growling. She'd barely even started on second lunch. Bah! Just her luck. Now her stomach wouldn't shut up til dinner time.

Laura strolled down the ramp next to Starchaser, grinning at the other girl nonchalantly. Force, but this was going to be fun! She donned her ID card and put her blaster in her jacket ... didn't want to attract unwanted attention, y'know. She watched the crowd in the spaceport without the appearance of watching. Well, she didn't seem intent about it. She was just a casual girl, really, which helped when you weren't trying to get noticed.

"So, what's the plan?" she said out of the corner of her mouth, not looking at Kinsey. "Is there a plan?"

Her eyes shifted around playfully. She liked the no plan option.

The girl with the eyes that seemed too wide for her face nodded at Reese. "We'll be on comm channel four." She offered the girl a mock salute with two pinched fingers shooting off from her brow. Thumbs hooked into her tool belt, gaze not quite turning to Laura.

The hungry one.

Of course there was a plan. Well. -ish.

"Get in. Don't get caught. Rendezvous together during the shift change in a few hours. Get the hollinium out. Don't get caught. Haul arse back here and load up. Don't get caught. Easy enough."

Overly confident scoundrel's grin briefly drew across her face to hide her true feelings.

Didn't last for long.

"Bus stop is up ahead." The factory was in the middle of the city. In the warehouse district. Not too far. Taking public transport seemed like what any normal worker would do. Kinsey took a breath. Smelled like docking fuel and vendor food.

"Let's go."

The others could board the bus too or find their own way in. They'd all be reconvening once inside, anyway. Once they'd scouted it out and got a truckload of the stuff. If they made it that far.

"Wow," replied the green-eyed girl. "Master plan of the century right there."

What was a healthy bit of friendly sarcasm amongst acquaintances? Truth be told, Laura wasn't perturbed by the lack of detail in the plan. She had a habit of putting herself where she needed to be and waltzing out of troubling situations. The Force manifested itself in strange ways, and thank the stars for that.

With a smile on her face, she followed Starchaser to the bus stop and pulled a palley out of her coat. The fruit was an Outer Rim staple, and she did happen to be hungry. She took a bite and her eyes lit up. It was good. Lucky she had that in her pocket, or she might have ended up getting a bit cranky.

He pulled himself up in those ten minutes, wiped himself off and left his clothes to drop and roll in great lumps, the sound of Phrik smashing against the floorboards permeated around in a quiet corner as he pulled out the most mundane clothes he could, a black shirt and boardshorts. Putting them on he strolled out of the ship, his visage being shown. If Disease had an avatar, he would've been pretty close to it. His skin was festered and poxed in deep gross scars, pussy welts and burn marks both flame and chemical. His veins seemed to pop with a strange shade of blue and his pink Zeltronian Skin was the palest shade it could manage to give off his heritage as he spoke in rocky tones like he had run his every word against sandpaper.

"Right, I got about ten minutes before I start having questions asked." He stated rather lucidly, pulling behind him a mop bucket and a thing of alcohol instead of water. He cusped a hand through, the stinging sensation of alcohol against weeping sores as he took a drink, the smell of booze lingered on him like carrion at an old battlefield. He opened up his bag as he saw where they were headed, a heavy sigh as he took the mop bucket, spilling the drink over and to his mouth as he followed along, tossing the bucket and mop aside before pulling out from his Tuck-a-bag a gas mask to cover up his abhorrent face.

He followed along, the last to get on the bus as he feigned worry, trying to cover up his features as he passed a few extra credits than he needed to the Bus Driver, taking the furthest back seat that had no one else sitting in it, letting the smell of booze and it's noxious mist roll over. Of course, that wasn't the only deterrence. A Natural Musk fo the Dark Side rolled from his wounds, his bag a little unzipped poured out a sense of unease. All things he was never actively aware of and often times forgetting about it.

Enemies: Laura Na'Varro Kinsey Starchaser @Zoltan @Thraxis

Objective: Protect the factory

Miri huffed a tuft of hair out of her face as she walked lazily around the factory. She hated working Sith gigs. They always gave her the creeps, especially those Sith Lords. Why did they wear so much black? Why was their hair either ridiculously long or cut bald? WHY ALL THE LEATHER? These were truly the questions that burned the woman's mind. They also talked about weird stuff, like sacrificial rituals and alchemy. Who did those things? They were just saying that to sound scary right?

She hoped so.

A pair of Sith troopers walked past her on their patrol route. One of them grunted and murdered something under his breath. When they were behind her Miri turned around and stuck her tongue at them. Those guys were stuck up too. They thought they were part of some unstoppable force, but she bet they'd never even had to fire their blaster before. She humphed and whipped back around to follow her path again, using the corner of her blaster's powerpack to scratch an itch on her leg.

She just wanted to get this job over with.

Kinsey adjusted the badge clipped to her jacket. Fingerless gloves stretched as her hands flexed down at her sides. Blues shifted to Thraxis. They narrowe slightly. Couldn't help but feel a bit...off. Anxiety?

The girl studied what little skin was exposed on the man.

Pink?

Oh chit. A karkin Zeltron? And an unstable one, maybe?

Kinsey's own force signature was buried down deep and concealed. She had her own Sith Lord problems and didn't want one Sage Bane collecting on that bounty. Though, she imagine he wasn't affiliated with Sith Empire. Wasn't worth takinging a chance. Not in this side o'the verse.

The girl elbowed Laura lightly in the ribs, eyeing the snack a bit enviously.

"Our stop," she nodded to Thraxis, trying not to let his feelings catch. She followed a few other folk out as they filed off, going their same direction. Kinsey took a closer look. They seemed...pensive. Tense. Maybe more than a few didn't like this new group of occupiers.

Public transportation, Riley had to admit, this was definitely a new way to travel for her. She could see the use of it for sneaking into the factory, even if people stared at the motley little crew of thieves.

Riley stepped off the bus with the others and gave the factory a quick once over. Nothing about it seemed unusual, just a factory that produced one of the most expensive materials in the galaxy. Oh, the guards, there were also a lot of them roaming around. As trained as she was, she didn't like her odds against such a large number of Sith troopers.

First order of business, find a uniform. Then blend in with the workers on the loading platforms. With any luck there would be crates of hollinium packed and ready to go. That would mean emphasis on the word luck. She turned her cybernetic eyes to Kinsey. "Well. Let's get to it then. Right?"

Kinsey turned to Riley as they made it through security. The guy on the fake ID badges came through. Good. Would've been a short trip.

"Go to our posts, do our jobs, and meet in the loading docs. Get a shipment ready on the next transport out. We'll meet you there."

Kins hadn't seen Zoltan in awhile. Hopefully he was in his manager's position and ready to bail them out if they needed it. Giving one last subtle nod, the pilot made her way to the transport center. She'd work the lifts and get the cargo packaged and ready to go.
