It was a happy occasion, but there was an unspoken subtext among Mandalorians, and many rough beings of a certain type. One insult could be laughed off as a misstep or verbal jousting. Two meant there was some sort of issue to be resolved, almost inevitably with violence. Kaine wasn't his younger self, where he might have jumped the table and cracked his tihaar bottle over the offending head to kick off a good old cantina brawl, but he was no less intrigued and excited by the subtle challenge.

I tell you what, ad'ika. Kaine threw the diminutive in there deliberately. Finish your drink, and we'll see how youth and cheek go against fat and old, eh? Kaine winked and nodded towards the door. They could take this outside once the drinks were finished, and give the rest of the vode a little show into the bargain. Kaine met Yasha's eyes, and didn't see complete disapproval. She understood.

Though i'd pay good money to see this fellow see if he can't pull your arms off. Kaine marveled at the size of the new Mando'ad, Valdus Bral

Wayii, they grow them big where you're from, eh? Welcome, ner vod.

Kaine nodded to an empty bench seat, which he judged might be able to accomodate the large warrior's bulk.

“You’re not kidding, Beth. I think they’re ready to take on the world.” Yasha looked between Mig Gred and her daughter. She found herself an instructor, eh? Good. "Sure, the bantha'll be decent, but this is wild shatual, hunted by Ambrose and prepared in my kitchens! Come to Mandalore more often, Mig. We're glad to have and feed you. Especially after Junction. Gosh that was intense, eh?"

The Infernal made a plate up for Nicair Claden, holding out the metal plate and fork for the quiet lone-man. Seeing him talking did her heart well, and she was glad Beth Cadera was around today. Beth had that effect, Yasha came to note. She was a spot of sunshine wherever she went. A true healer regardless of power or circumstance. “Olarom, Nicair. I hope you like shatual meat.”

There went Kalmann Ordo, the recent addition, running his mouth. Yasha rolled her eyes with a sigh, taking Kaine’s hand and giving the Australis Alor a dream-sustaining grin... which she used to steal a chocolate bar the father and grandfather perpetually kept in one of his belt pouches.

“Ooohhhhhh Kal, your eyes have spent too long outside a buy’ce. That’s not fat. It’s glorious, ‘feth me I’m pregnant again’ mmmuscle, ner vod.” Yasha pressed her lips together, the grin not leaving her eyes as she cupped Kain’ik’s cheek with a hand and cuddled an inch closer to her riduur. Kal wanted to brawl? Loose some of that energy? Kain’ik was not a young man, but a talented fighter. It was a joy to watch Kaine move, and in such a pugilistic way? Be still Yasha's heart. “Mmmh. Medic! Kal’s going to need a medic in about five... six minutes!”

Valdus Bral needed a medic sooner than that. The gigantic man stumbled directly toward a very pregnant woman. A spear singing with energy veered into her outstretched crush-gaunt. She triggered the dovin basal in the spearhead, using its’ artificial gravity to keep Valdus aloft. No force trickery, just intelligent Mandalorian craftsmanship. Wrist movement was all Yasha needed to help guide Valdus’ bulk to the bench.

“Easy, I wasn’t about to get us flattened. Welcome, ner vod. How kind of you to drop in. Someone, get this fine vod a plate, please.” Yasha set her spear against the wall, and it stayed standing, a silent sentinel. Food helped all ills, of that Yasha held a certainty.

Tuulu stretched with a growling groan, limping around the table to sit with a harrumph beside Darlyn Excron. He set his snout on the table, teeth the size of fingers clenching around Kalmann Ordo’s bottle of tihaar and taking it for himself. The gurlanin dared anyone to stop him.

He shook Beth's hand, appreciating the grip wasn't limp or weak, like the usual politicians he had to play 'nice' with. Nice change of pace, probably number thirty on the list of reasons he ought to get out more. Numbers 1-29 being various kinds of explosives, firearms, and generally the things he doesn't get to play with back home, and tihaar. Fething Yasha, showing him a good drink, playing to his alcoholism was a dirty trick and she knew it.

Dirtier still was to issue a challenge. He took the drink she gave him after letting Beth's hand go, and almost scoffed a little bit. "You know well enough coz who you're talking to. 'Ain't no drink too bittersweet for me." Perhaps a bit of a stretch, and perhaps unwisely followed by him drinking the thing down in what felt like seconds. He wasn't one to savor, usually, and he couldn't help but regret that when the taste of the drink hit him. "Alright, that one does get close though."

He didn't really seem to pay attention for a few moments, trying to adjust himself to what he had just consumed. The party grew, Tuulu moved up close, there was a lot. But he came back to the real world and glanced around, before noticing a face he recognized. Elaine Thul... though the name, occupation, reason, everything else escaped him. He squinted a bit at her, before shrugging it off. Must have been unimportant, or not exactly memorable. Maybe he'd been drunk. Alright he probably had been drunk.

Speaking of drunk, he got himself his own tihaar. No good in not drinking now, after all. Besides who knew what fun would happen, he picked up on the possibility of a brawl breaking out, at least for Kaine and the man who spoke absolutely no basic. He'd put his money on Kaine if only because he understood the man, favoritism bonus.

Mig gave a wide smile and a slight chuckle as Beth Cadera winked at him. "That's definitely true. Could always use some fun every now and then. And it would be nice to see ya more." Mig had to admit he enjoyed Beth's company. She had a way of brightening up pretty much anyone's day, though he had felt and seen that she often got nervous. He had kind of wonder why, especially when she seemed confident. Beth then noted that she had been practicing. It was nice to know she took the training seriously, as if he needed more proof of that. "Good to hear. Bet you're getting better, but pehea ganar gar oyacyir (how have you been)."

Mig nodded to Yasha Cadera , remembering that mission. "Yeah. Felt like I really messed that one up early on. Definitely taught me to shut my trap sometimes. Glad we made it out of that one to hunt another day." Dang that was an exciting one. Still wasn't a fan of Hawke, but hey, all and all it was a good mission, and one of his first views of diplomacy.

He watched as Nicair Claden approached glad to hear his getting. He also eyed Kalmann Ordo , who seemed to have a death wish. Kaine Australis nodded to the door, and the alor could already see where this was going. He was a a skilled melee fighter, but even if he could use the Force Mig wouldn't pick a fight with Kaine. That just sounded like a bone breaking bargain. "Hey, Ordo. Maybe ya need to rest for a moment before trying anything. Not sure you're thinking straight."

So Darlyn Excron had not recognised her, she was safe, and had wine, thanks to Yasha Cadera. Then a woman invited her over, she thought she was a Eldorai, she was well educated in these things. She decide why not, so she grabbed her glass of wine, and looked for a place at there table. She sat so that Darlyn could not see her properly, as she just wanted to be Elaine. She sat down, looked everyone and possibly cringeworthy, as she was completely and utterly out of her depth, said Hi I am Elaine, so who do I have honour of meeting. Her voice was not relaxed, but not up tight ether, maybe one or two drinks and she may start hang of this. Though socialising with people who did not even know who she was was very new experience.

Valdus' near total lack of hand-eye coordination at the present caused him to be easily guided off his current trajectory by the quick thinking of Yasha Cadera and Kaine Australis. Normally drawing a weapon on Valdus would have been met with the same gesture in return, but not this day, he barely recognized the spear for what it was. His somewhat canine face glowed a slight pink due to his blue-gray tinted skin showing the increased blood-flow due to the alcohol. The big guy was safely and securely placed onto the bench with a loud sound of clinking and clashing metal and finally a thud. Leaning back as his glassy eyes stared at the woman (Yasha Cadera) and reached over to pat Kaine Australis on the forearm as he spoke, " Uneven floorin' . . ." Well of course that's what it was, Valdus Bral was never off balance, the floor was just 'uneven'. "I'm no Wookie if that's what you're sayin, never been to Kashyyyk." He nodded firmly to Kaine Australis as if he had heard all of this before. " M'name's Valdus Bral, vod. Been a long time since I've been on Mandalore."

Valdus knew there were others in the pub, that much was obvious, though in his stupor he was only able to focus on those who were positioned closet to him and directly in his line of sight. After several seconds of looking incoherently down towards the floor, focusing on nothing in particular, he looked up and growled out. " Know of any place where a goran can find work?" Projecting himself as an unemployed, stumbling drunkard was not the ideal first impression that he wanted to make, but it is what it is. As Valdus finished his sentence he began to peer around, seeing Elaine Thul , Mig Gred and Darlyn Excron he gave each a nod that was perhaps a bit too exaggerated for the stereotypical 'nod in greeting' he was aiming for.

Great to meet you, Nicair. Glad to see you out and about. I hope you enjoy the time with us,” she would say with a bright smile. She watched as he took a plate of food, hobbling over to a seat. Some type of lower leg injury. Maybe ankle? In either case, he seemed to make it over pretty easily before sitting down and digging into his food.

She winced as she watched Darlyn gulp down his liquor.

She gave a little giggle at the mention that the twins were ready to take on the world. She believed it, 110% in truth. She gave a quick nod, “Yeah! You really should, there is almost always delicious food. Plus, sightseeing and other fun stuff. I’ll even give you a tour or something!” Granted, that was all assuming he hadn’t already been involved in all that.  She moved to sit next to him, taking a few bites of the spicy food. She crunched her nose up. It was good but… Well, it wasn’t just her skin that was hypersensitive. Burrrrn.

Doing great, Mig! How have you been? Any other strangers shown up at your door asking to be trained, yet?” She laughed, remembering the first lesson.

Her attention, though, turned to Kalmann Ordo. She perked a brow, one of her long ears also turning slightly to the side. She, like her mother, simply rolled her eyes at the Mando. It seemed like no matter what, a fight was always bound to break out. Kaine, of course, accepted the escalating Mandos passive-aggressive attempts at a fight.

But then the other girl showed up, with what she could assume was a glass of wine. “I’m Bethany, but you can call me Beth. Come! Have some. It’s a bit spicy though…” She said as the woman sat down at the table. “Make yourself at home,” she said with a bright smile.

Lastly, Valdus Bral showed up. Drunk as a skunk. She perked a brow, and did a small ‘mhhhhm’ at his comment about an uneven floor. She gave a smile as the rather large man landed on a bench. “It’s good to meet you, Valdus! Do you, uh, want some food…?” The man needed it… Maybe it’d sober him up a little bit to function a bit better. She nearly got up to give him a plate herself but first waited. "I'm sure we can find some work for you," she looked over to Yasha because, well, Beth had no idea.

Kaine took an immediate liking to the big fellow of Clan Bral. He seemed to enjoy his booze, had a jovial sort of nature, and then he mentioned being a smith. A man after Kaine's own heart.

Kaine took a long pull on his bottle, and reached over to clap the giant on a large shoulder. He wasn't small per se, but he still had to reach up, even with the bloke sitting.

As he sat down, Kaine took a moment to pull up the local marketplace on his HUD and found Korkus's was up for sale. A quick credit transfer brought it into his portfolio. He transferred it to a holding company he used to set young Mando'ade up in their own enterprises. Owning a pub was a suitable enough profession.

We'll make sure you can feed you and yours, vod. Plenty of work for those with that talent. Consider yourself hired. No such thing as too many weapons for the vode, and a vod who can make beskar'gam is a vod I want to get to know. Kaine chuckled.

You and I are going to have a long conversation, after I indulge myself with our Ordo friend, and..

He cut himself off as a posse of four Mando'ade in mismatched armour, looking nothing like the elite supercommandos they were, entered Korkus's.

Osik. Kaine said, when Vevut spotted him and he saw the look on the Mando's face. Bors was carrying something big in two of his hands, a large rug draped over whatever it was. Behind them came another pair, a very shabby looking and mischievious looking foursome indeed. The Jare'rami'kade of Clan Australis, all in one place. And smiling. Osik didn't begin to cover it.

May I have your attention please! Vevut boomed, in a voice loud enough to get the attention of everyone in the vicinity whether they willed it or no.

We would like to present this memorial, carved and engraved on a piece of the Sith Emperor's flagship Behemoth, blown in half by Clan Australis over Csilla, to Alor Kaine Australis! Vevut elbowed Bors, who was too busy grinning at Kaine. The Besalisk coughed, and unveiled the memorial.

It was a large rectangular piece of impervium, which Kaine saw was engraved with lines of names. The fallen.

Kaine stood and went over to recieve it, removing his helmet out of respect, and giving the lads a grin that sent up a few cheers and Oyas.

Bors, put that above the bar. Bors's grin got wider, and he wandered over and jumped up on the bar, taking a moment to place the large heavy metal memorial into place.

Kaine stood back and admired it. A thoughtful gift, and a fitting tribute.

Well done lads.

Shia embraced Yasha in a fierce hug, then relaxed back into a seat with a wink.

"Older men." She said simply as the discussion went on around them. "And I'm back for a week or two to... deal with some family stuff. You're not the only elderly married woman around here now."

Her attention was caught by the toast, and the boast that went with it.

"I see he hasn't changed." She commented without rancor, raising a mug to Kaine with a broad smile.

"I hope the Jennie's paid you well for that, vod." She called to Kaine, raising her voice to be heard above the crowd. For a moment, the bar seemed different, all the people in it different, faces of legend. She blinked and shook her head, fingering her new tattoos, the effect was definitely stronger around 'familiar' places. It would take some getting used to.

Normally he would have bristled at Yasha declining the drunk. But reputation proceeded the fierceness she protected her children. That much extended to even the womb. The cartels had never taught him the sort of brotherhood the Mando'ade were, nor had his time with the Alliance. But here were people as different as the armors they wore, that were all coming together to tell tales and strengthen bonds only war could forge so deeply and strongly. His ear was caught by the man of intense size calling himself a goran. That was what his father had been, one of if not the best had ever swung a hammer, or so Jenna had said. Even before the business with Ashin and being given the powers of the Force.

Standing, he walked over to the smith, his helmet clipped to his belt, braids swaying as he dipped his head in greeting.

"Mereel has a long history of working every metal they can get their hands on. My father depleted much of our good will. But if you need a forge, we have many fine ones sitting cold, begging for ashes to be woken. And any of the knowledge the Slayer gained would be yours. He could make beskar sing, or so I am told...We could use the skill, and I would welcome being taught the basics. My father left much behind on metallurgy, but I understand little and less of it"

Patting the giant mandalorian one more time, he dropped an ident chip next to him. It would contain information on the compound on Concord Dawn, and how to get there. Mereel would be rebuilt if he could see it.

"No offense taken, Manda'lor. I am not my father, I never really knew him. I only come back to make whole as much of what he shattered as I may..."

The simple phrase, directed at Yasha, carried a wealth of meaning and admittance. He might not be her staunchest supporter, no Mereel could truly be after all that was done. But for him to admit it, in a respectful tone, said much and more.

"Those children of yours get old enough, bring them to Concord Dawn. I will have them built the finest weapons the Clans have seen. Send any you wish, for that matter. We aim to prove we can still swing hammers. And the ter'rekr are returning, if you ever wanted a hunt for a beast. Friend or quarry, they're something else to see. Might even see if we can get Kaine to ride one, the natives consider it the mark of a great man to tame an unbroken wolf of the sun..."

His drawl wasn't hidden behind Sullustan and Coruscanti accents for once, and the Corellian grin and smirk was in full force as he tried his best to be at one with them. Making offers to redress wrongs. That brought him to Shia, and the tattoos drew a curious glance, but were passed over in conversation at least.

"And you, Shia... Mereel owes a debt to. If there is a goran alive under our name that can repair what my father made unwhole, we will do it. That was his oath, and we will honor it still."

Coughing, he laid a cred-stick in front of Kaine.

"Think you can go shot for shot with me, war-dog? I've an itch to prove myself, and you look like you've a need to remind yourself of your youth, eh?"

His manner was quick, easy, relaxed and open. They could kill him all in retribution, and he would deserve it. And he wouldn't fight it a lot. But this was him, here on the edge, arms wide as it were, asking to be let in from the cold. Life with Skirata had shown him a different side of the Mandalorian people. Woken up something in his blood. How his father could have done this was beyond him, and he blamed the Sith that Ijaat had called a friend, and a broken mind in the first place. But he would make amends and forge anew, and not obsess over the past.

The glassy stare that seemed to not be looking at anyone, rather just in front or behind them, turned to each who addressed him in turn. Raising his left hand and tucking it behind his head as he rubbed his neck, slightly shocked at how quickly he was getting offers for work and mentorship. He nodded to Beth Cadera " I'd be appreciative, Bethany." Choosing to use her full name instead of a nickname. In his stupor he assumed that the nickname she proposed was only for that person who she was originally speaking to. If and when the plate was brought before him he'd set it on his lap. Was the brute ignoring Kaine Australis and Daymon Vale ? It certainly appeared that he would not respond.

Given a few more seconds Valdus took the chip from Daymon Vale and nodded slowly, switching his gaze between Kaine Australis and Daymon Vale, " I'm not one to be tied down to one place. You - " Looking towards Kaine , " Have what I need to survive. I'm interested in showin' you a design, that is if you have as large a means of production as yer mouth is wide." A challenging, though good natured poodoo-eating grin appeared on the Drunkmando.

Then he turned to Daymon Vale " If you keep that fire, then I would be honored to mentor you." It was a good thing that he was given coordinates, such fine details of this discussion were very likely to be blurred come tomorrow morning. " I'll work for whoever needs my services, pays an honest wage or has a good reason why they cannot afford it. Havin' said that -- I'm under no one's name but my own." The gruff last sentence was directed at Daymon Vale.

When the trophy was brought in Valdus gave his knee a smack that caused loud clashing sounds in applause. " I think -- gmph -" He got to a stand, setting the plate aside and using the same hand on the knee to push himself upwards. " This calls for a gid'ol tune, eh?!" Clearing his throat and he began:

Oh we'd be alright if the stars were at our backs,
Oh we'd be alright if the stars were at our backs,
Oh we'd be alright if the stars were at our backs,
An we'll all hang on behind!

He then raised his hands for all to join in on the next verse.
So we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
An' we'll all hang on behind!
Lowering his hands once more to indicate a solo.

Oh, a night on the oriya wouldn't do us any harm,

Once more to raise his hands for those willing to participate to join in on every line after the first and the chorus.

Oh, a night on the oriya wouldn't do us any harm,
Oh, a night on the oriya wouldn't do us any harm,
An' we'll all hang on behind!

Oh, a gai'ka of Ne'tra gal wouldn't do us any harm,
Oh, a gai'kaof Ne'tra gal wouldn't do us any harm,
Oh, a gai'kaof Ne'tra gal wouldn't do us any harm,
An' we'll all hang on behind!

So we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
An' we'll all hang on behind!

Oh, a plate of Tiingilar wouldn't do us any harm,
Oh, a plate of Tiingilar wouldn't do us any harm,
Oh, a plate of Tiingilar wouldn't do us any harm,
An' we'll all hang on behind!

So we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
An' we'll all hang on behind!

So we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
An' we'll all hang on behind!

Oh I said, we'd be alright if the stars were at our backs,
Oh we'd be alright if the stars were at our backs,
Oh we'd be alright if the stars were at our backs,
An we'll all hang on behind!

Valdus carried out the first and last sentences in his booming voice with whoever would join in and if no one did, he'd do the whole damn thing by himself! Afterwards, Valdus took a seat and put the plate back on his lap, his chest armor lifting a bit as his lungs filled with the air that he had been previously depriving them of.

Nicair was never really one for singing, more often than not he'd seen it as nothing more than an expression of emotion unless it was used for keeping time in a march or during a training drill. There was something about this style he hadn't experienced before. Something in the lyrics. A freedom, a loneliness almost. It peaked the vagabond in his heart, forged of iron that it was. It reminded him of a saying he'd heard from one place or another in a variety of languages with only the smallest changes of words here and there, "May the wind be ever at your back and the road rise up to meet you."

Something peeked itself into his down turned eyes that hadn't been there for some time. It was a small thing, more often than not he wasn't aware it was there. This time he could feel it. A twinkle, a spark of one thing or another lit itself in the dark orbs of his species. When faced with something he couldn't fight or conquer with an iron will he ran and he ran far indeed, deep into the darkest hole he could find where no harsh and merciless light could reach him.

The nomad had been still too long. The smallest of smiles cracked his face, the muscles almost creaked for lack of use. For now, however, he'd sit and revel to the best of his ability with a family that would be there when he pulled himself out.
