Petranaki Arena, Genosis

Uthixo Nazim vs. Scherezade deWinter

The galaxy had seen its fair share of blood spilled in recent months. From the war-torn capital of Eshan, to the explosion that rocked the parliamentary buildings on Kuat, to what remained of the Jen’ari Empire, scattered to the solar winds. The Confederacy had contributed a large amount of that blood - and it would seem that their appetite had turned inward for a change.

Recognizing an opportunity to reforge bonds with their allies, the CIS put out an open invitation to anyone who would consider themselves friends. Those who had been brave enough to put their names forward were invited to join with a horde of spectators at the Petranaki Arena on Geonosis.

The morning was bright, the skies clear. The stands were filled to the brim with roaring spectators, all having gathered to watch what promised to be a brilliant bit of sport. Nestled high above the sandy floor of the arena below, and overlooking the festivities, a platform stood sentinel. A cluster of massive stone chairs sat perched at the edge of the platform, with an unobstructed view of the arena and stands spread around them. Seated there were several members of the Confederate Viceroyalty, and others invited guests from their allied factions.

It didn’t take long for every single seat in the arena to be filled to complete capacity, with the unlucky patrons that were unable to secure a seat forced to either hover above the stadium or find somewhere to be able to stand and see the spectacle that was about to occur. The sounds and roars of the crowd only got louder and louder as the time neared to introduce the fighters that would be clashing for the crowd’s entertainment. That roar reached a fever pitch as the guardian of the arena, an aging Geonosian, hobbled his way to the front of the observation platform, his cane doing all it could to support him. Beside him, a silver protocol droid, a translator, took up the microphone and awaiting the first words from the crowd’s esteemed host.

After allowing the crowd to quiet down momentarily, the old alien made his voice known through a series of clicks and buzzes, the Geonosian language. The Geonosians were apparently quite pleased with whatever he had to say, though everyone else that spoke basic was left quiet for a moment. The translator droid was quick to fix that, speaking aloud into the microphone for all to hear. “The Great Guardian welcomes you all to this event of bloodshed! He hopes you will be pleased with the fighters, the fights, and the results!

The elder allowed the droid to finish, before continuing the speech in his native language, then motioning toward the gates at the far end of the arena. The droid, quicker to translate this time, made the same motion while speaking in its robotic voice. “Open the gates! And let the fighters make their way forth, so that we may see these fighters in all their glory!

With that, the gates would be opened, and the competitors would be lead into the arena. The very sight of these fighters had the crowd reaching a fever pitch once again, the open air gladiatorial arena shaped in such a way that the sound would be loudest in the bowl itself. All of the fighters, coming from different backgrounds, different walks of life, were embraced by the crowd wholeheartedly as they were lead to the center of the fighting arena, where all could get a good look at those that had been chosen to fight for their entertainment.

The fighters, Uthixo Nazim and Scherezade deWinter, had the look of those that could win the entire tournament, and as the crowd began looking over the competitors, credits could be seen being exchanged as the patrons began placing bets on the individual fighters. The arena guardian allowed this to go on for a few moments, before clicking his cane against the rock observation platform, bringing the crowd noise back down to a slight murmur. Looking to the protocol droid, he gave a short nod. Once seen, the droid began the final words to the fighters. “The Great Guardian is pleased with the form you all are in. He, as well as all those here in the arena, are very eager to see what you all can do. You all have your first matchups for the first round. Now, let us begin, and let the blood flow!

Gear: Lightshield (left side), shoto saber, lightsaber

Standing in the dark chamber he'd been placed, Uthixo listened as the translator droid outside the gates spoke. Within the Sandali's chest, his heart hammered within its confines, excitement flooding the warrior. He'd entered the tournament to make a name for himself within the CIS. At first, it had put a dampener on the warrior's mood to know the Force had been disallowed which meant that many would be lacking in terms of what they brought to the table. Accepting the terms of the fight Uthixo had simply brought only three items. 2 being the sabers he'd crafted upon entering the Knights Obsidian, and the third a light shield that sat deactivated on his left forearm.

The screeching of metal filled the arena as the gate opened permitting the Sandali entrance into the arena. Sun beating down on his head, Uthixo looked across the way to his opponent wondering what they would bring to the table. Would they be one of honor? One of brutal efficiency bringing an entire armory of weapons? It was hard to tell in tournaments such as this. If it was the latter Uthixo was certain of his loss. Feet shifting, Uthixo's legs bent slightly at the knee, while both were placed in line with one another his left side presented to his would-be opponent.

Reaching to either side of his hip and unclipping the two hilts, Uthixo held them a breath filling his lungs. With a movement of his thumbs, the blades came to life a golden glow cast around the man. "Best wishes warrior." If this had been a battlefield Uthixo would've used the ceremonial word Mayelfa but in this instance, he chose to use basic so the woman he faced could understand.

A sandy arena, a crowd that was watching. In many ways, this was almost perfect. In a specific way, it was not. Scherezade had not bothered to read the small print prior to signing up to the tournament, realizing only slightly before it was beginning that Force abilities as well as Force-affected gear would not be permitted. Not that knowing this in advance would have kept her from signing up, but it just meant that she had arrived as her usual walking armory self, and now had to remove a whole lot of things from her body to be tucked in a locker until later. She sincerely hoped none of the infamous pickpocketers or thieves would make the attempt to get at her stuff; she had placed to be and things to do after this was over and delaying them to go murder a thief wasn't something she was in the mood for.

Other than that though, she was borderline shiny. Fighting made her happy. While she couldn't use the Force, she was not severed from it, and her blood was already singing in excitement for the fight that was about to ensue.

Her own gates had opened prior, and she was standing in the arena, taking the surroundings in before her glowing green eyes fell on Uthixo Nazim. There was something familiar about his name, something familiar about his looks, but she couldn't place it. It was a shame; for she had been told of the mayelfa and who he was by her sister, but now these things did not jump to the front of her memory as there was the fight to focus on.

Nodding to him, she offered a friendly smile as from the array of weapons she carried, she chose to begin with a single Nastirci Combat Knife and Fire. The song in her blood intensified as she got into a protective beginning stance, motioning for the other warrior to come at her.

The glowing eyes of Uthixo's adversary were somehow both inviting and unsettling, in a sense unnatural. He knew not of the woman that stood across from him in the arena as his one chance at having socialized with others in the CIS ended with him and Cardinal at each other's throats. What was more surprising was finding a woman that was able to match his own height that wasn't of an alien species. But for all the warrior knew she could've been a shapeshifter. These all thoughts that had nothing to do with the fight, but ones that passed through the warrior's mind nonetheless.

With the invitation for battle given Uthixo kicked off the ground moving towards the woman, his legs never lifting too far from the ground as he bounced on the balls of his feet. The sand barely disturbed as the warrior in a way seemed to glide over it keeping his movements smooth. Battle was what the Sandali lived for, the electric feeling of excitement creeping beneath one's flesh urged the warrior onward. The stance the dark-skinned man had chosen to fight with alone was unorthodox for any saber or sword duelist most preferring to keep their feet flat to the ground.

Left side still facing Scherezade, Uthixo's body came to a stop his weight still resting on the balls of his feet, knees bent slightly. Pulling his left arm back and then extending his elbow Uthixo thrust the golden blade of the shoto saber directly at Scherezade's face. While a simple attack it was as good as any to probe his opponent's defenses as well as make her react as there was nothing one wished to protect more than their face during a duel. Right elbow resting near his side, the saber's tip pointing to the sky Uthixo currently held it back.

Much as the Sandali before her had come from a warrior culture, so had Scherezade; Endelaan, her home, had been a place where the Force Users had been put into a dichotomoical existence; one was either a Sith Warrior, or a Sith Sorceress. Scherezade was the first female in her family to not become a Sorceress, something that she attempted to compensate for with every single breath she drew from her lungs.

Her lightsaber was still unignited.

The shoto coming for her face, Scherezade's body twisted, the tip of her nose narrowingly avoiding it as her move ended with her own left side facing Uthixo Nazim. There was no stress on her face; the two of them were still testing each other out. This… Was not a fight yet. At present, it was a warm up.

Grinning, Scherezade extended her own left hand, igniting the lightsaber. She wasn't interested in his face though; her lightsaber blade, unless Uthixo moved, would touch his lower abdomen within moments.

Keeping his breathing even Uthixo took the time during his thrust to examine Scherezade deWinter all the more closely, how she moved and took the time to dodge the attack instead of blocking it and shifting her footing. A woman that seemed to know plenty about combat. The Sandali could respect that, as her lightsaber activated the woman throwing her own thrust.

A dodge would've been one of the simplest ways to avoid the attack, but that would also mean giving Dewinter space, something the Sandali could not risk in the opening moments of combat. He needed to stay on her, as such the saber he had in his right hand was put into action. Turning his wrist, to where the inside of it faced the ground, the blade horizontal, pointing to the left all the Sandali had to do was twist his wrist once more to the position it had once been. This bringing the blade up to meet Scherezade's and push it off to the side and away from his body. That was the thing about thrusts your force was focused on a forward motion and all it required was a bit of force to knock it off kilter and away from one's target.

Left foot gliding forward, right following Uthixo closed the distance more bringing the shoto in his left hand down in a slash at the area between Sorceresses' shoulder and neck. The right saber poised to defend the Sandali's body or strike out at openings.

The blade of her lightsaber moved away to avoid him any harm, Scherzade laughed as its green glow was cast aside. She could have followed the motion, could have let it lead her movements, but that would be giving power to the warrior before her, power which she had no intention of giving him, even in this warm up stage.

Instead, the Sithling dropped the hilt of her lightsaber, allowing it to fall to the sand, and as the Sandali's blade then moved towards her, she used her right hand to jab the air; it was not his flesh she was after in that instant, but turning on of the repulse generation, sending a half meter shockwave before her.

Still moving, Scherzade had every intention to close the distance that she was potentially opening up between the two of them, her left hand's combat gauntlet releasing the blade which she aimed for Uthixo Nazim's thigh.

Uthixo had deWinter dead to rights his blade should've gone through her neck outright decapitating the woman, would he have regretted it? Tremendously, its why the warrior was glad when the dagger went off with a shockwave which should've never happened as it required physical contact before the shockwave went off. Perhaps the force favored deWinter in these moments.

Shockwave colliding with his body Uthixo went limp instead of trying to hold his ground and fight it, that was the biggest mistake people made. Much like in speeder accidents it was better to be the limber and loose one. Taken off his feet and flung backward the Sandali went head over tail his lightsabers deactivating.Air whistled in his ears, pain radiating through his body. Gonna feel that in the morning. The Sandali thought his body reacting and curling into a ball so as to not land flat on his back or on his neck upon impact with the ground.

The sand dampening the sound of his collision with the ground he allowed his body to roll just once more where the Sandali came out of it his left knee in the sand, his right foot planted solidly against the ground. Looking up Uthixo saw Scherezade deWinter hadn't even planned on giving him quarter, she was coming in to continue her brutal offensive but the Sandali had his own.

As the woman's arm approached to stab his thigh, Uthixo let the woman's arm come in then reacted using his forearms instead of his hands. While forearms usually couldn't get a good grip in most circumstances this is one where they thrived and where their strength would come in handy. Right forearm coming down at that point right between deWinter's bicep and inside of her elbow, his left came up from beneath using the force from both opposing forces in an attempt to break her arm at the elbow. Simultaneous with the ending of this maneuver the Sandali activated the saber in his right and the hilt pointed directly at the woman's head the gold blade escaping from its prison seeking to claim the woman.

She hated being taken by surprise. Scherezade groaned, her arm caught and trapped effectively, using what raw strength she had to resist the attempt to break it. It was not even a single span of breath before the lightsaber came up, the golden beam almost exploding from inside the hilt to come to, to try to grab her head.

It wasn't a warm up anymore.

Arm or head, something had to be saved, and Scherezade could heal from a broken elbow. Healing from lightsaber through the head was trickier. The scream erupted from her throat as her elbow snapped, yet the scream had given her the boost she needed to move her head aside, the beam caressing the side of her neck rather than leave a heated hole through the forehead. It was going to hurt later. It was already hurting.

Without even looking up from her new position, her broken elbow still in Uthixo Nazim's arms, Scherezade raised her other hand, the uninjured hand, and shot her stun dart at him from super close range, her legs already ready to push herself backwards if he somehow found a way to avoid that.
