It had been a year and three months, per Kashyyyk time.
A year and three months since Jake Daniels as stepped foot upon the soil of the Wookie home world. He had received the invitation. All Silvers did; even those that had fallen from grace (so to say), in the eyes of the force. Jake still came. Why though? The events of Chandrila not but a month prior that solidified his name as the Duke of Honoghor had added another stain to his presence on the force. Did he seek redemption from the force? Not at all. The man could care less what the force thought, if it even thought at all. Was it redemptions? Perhaps. Was is to perhaps see her. The woman he still loved. If he did what exactly would he do? What would he say? That... that was truly the question for Jake this evening. People knew Jake as the man with a shattered heart but he was also the destroyer of them as well. They also knew him as a Shadow. He was around and not around. The fly on the wall. The observer of events but never a participant.
He'd come though. No this was not part of any plot or plan. He came out of respect for the Order that took him in. He came for her.
Upon a balcony he stood, wearing his best. His eyes gazed out over the Kashyyyk forests. They did remind him of home. The Noghri forests not being too disemelar to this planets. Perhaps that is why Jake himself able to relax a bit more here than other places. In a small way it felt like home.
The man didn't like coming to these events alone. He never did. Whether it had been his Master or other family member, Jake always had an escort. The invitation was forwarded to Ereza, a distant relative, but silence was all he heard in response. Perhaps these events were not in her taste. Still though... he came even if albeit alone.
The sound of other arrivals perked his ears. He could put voices to names and names to faces but others he knew nothing about. Jedi and non-Jedi, it didn't matter. Whom Jake did know Jake viewed as a potential threat. That was a habit she had been working with him on; a habit he failed to abandon when he abandoned her. His heart ached, even if his face didn't display it.
If Jake wasn't a creature of these sociable events, how long would he stay? Lord only knew. Would it be long enough to spark a potential friendship or ally? Would it be until the last guest arrived and confirmation of the one he hoped would come, didn't? In a galaxy of trillions, on a planet of millions, and an order of hundreds, Jake felt alone.
Those actions were completely his own fault it was a much needed fault however. Jake had to do what he did for the protection of those he loved; even if that meant he be cast from this same order should they discover what happened on Chandrila.
Yet the Hand of Silencia. The old Bane of the Jedi. The Master of Shadows without being a Shadow. He simply stood stoic. He was present without being present. He listened to what conversation he overheard, he took note of whom was arriving if names where spilled. His eyes now fixated on one spot of the forest.
Moments before arriving to the ball Jake had visited a small home among the trees. Though the lights were out, it didn't mean she wasn't there. He had raised a hand to knock upon a door and to call upon a woman he so desperately wanted to see and yet... the rare cowardice of a man whom didn't fear death but feared something far greater... left like a leaf upon a wind.
The pain he felt was punishment. One he would forever force himself to carry.
He'd left the small home after failing to call upon Valae Heavenshield.
