It was not unusual for the Emperor to flaunt his wealth and prestige to his ever faithful followers. He had earned that right, after all, with the ever successful expansion and conquests undertook at his whim. To celebrate the glorious future that awaited the Sith Empire, the Dark Lord had appointed his ever faithful concubine and servant to arrange a party for he and the elite of the Sith Empire. It would be an affair of debauchery and excess, a display of the Empire's limitless wealth and prestige. The finest foods, music and exotic slaves had been brought forth for the enjoyment and pleasure of the guests in attendance.

Sylara had spent months making preparations for the event. Though it was officially advertised and only supposed to last one night, unofficially, she'd prepared enough supplies and entertainment to last many days. If the debaucherous revelry persisted for longer, the public would merely be informed the palace was closed for "minor maintenance." As the hall below filled with the multitude of wealthy and important guests, Sylara looked down from a VIP-restricted balcony above, garbed in a scandalously revealing black dress, matching stilletos and an ungodly amount of jewelry. Perfectly fitting for an ever doted upon servant of the Emperor. Soon enough, she'd head down to properly greet and welcome the Emperor's guests, hoping her liege would grace the festivities with his presence.

Debauchery. Extravagance. Both things Darth Raptious, known as Osin amongst their closest comrades (of which there were few), was unfamiliar with. There were even fewer times the Sith Lord had taken the opportunity to visit parties, get-togethers, formals, and so on, thus leaving the Darth out of their element. Granted, their element often involved screaming, blood, dissections, and the repeated voiding of the bowels amongst the dead. Also granted, this was a Sith party hosted by the Dark Lord himself, so the elements the Darth was familiar with were highly possible in this palace.

Regardless of what and would not be present, the Sith Lord had taken the chance to present themselves in fashionable light, dressing in the finest cloths their personal ship droid could procure.

It was a five-piece black suit with red trimmings that the Sith Lord wore: the tight-sleeved jacket long and just barely avoided dragging itself along the ground, the vest and shirt melded in such as a way as to look like one, the trousers and shoes the same way, and the black gloves with red-velvet threads running through the palms like burst veins constantly alternating between gripped and relaxed. Some would see it as a nice outfit for that day's spectacle of moral degeneracy, ethical depravity, social hedonism, and rich indulgence. Some would see it as intimidating and avoid looking upon the Sith Lord directly for the night's duration

Raptious marched through the crowd of that first floor hall, some moving out of their way and some pushed out of their way. The music was loud and obnoxious, yet strangely bop worthy, Raptious finding themselves almost walking to the beat, which proved somewhat useful to speeding up the meandering through the grand hall that was much larger than the Sith Lord had expected.

There were people beyond counting here, and even more on the floor above in the VIP section, where the Sith Lord spotted a strange Togruta, in clothing that could not have been comfortable, looking down upon the crowd and making her way to perhaps address them or someone the Darth could not see.

"Can you believe it?" the Sith Lord suddenly heard one of the guests ask another. "The Emperor himself is going to appear."

The other guest scoffed at the idea, "No way, he's too busy killing off those who aren't under our rule yet. He does have almost the entire galaxy to take over."

"Yes, I suppose that is true. Thankfully the Empire's full of renowned warriors and the like, so such excursions should be over soon."

Raptious smirked at the words and lightly dragged a glove through their braids, trying to locate food or at the very least someone of visual interest to converse with.

パレスオブザダークキング | グランドホール

Palace of the Dark Lord, Grand Reception Hall

-

The Knot had been left in orbit of the world of Bastion, the modest luxury yacht docked in a small orbital station. Hakai had taken a small skiff from there to the palace and though he had never been to the place - it was hard to miss. Hakai, for his part, was dressed modestly. A darkened tunic and trousers. Atop these, an obsidian overcoat clasped by dull silvered ties. Till now he had been content to sit along the fringes and merely observe the people coming and going. It was a practice of his, there were many things a person could learn simply by waiting and watching. Alas, the cravings had descended upon him and he was weak to their call. Rising to his feet, a quick survey revealed a small room off to the side of the main hall. *There.*

Picking his path carefully Hakai waded through the nebulous gatherings of friends, acquaintances, strangers, to arrive at the doorway. What lie beyond had been a mystery from the other side of the hall however now it was recognizable. No doubt an overflow room, there were only a handful of people within, tables, chairs, luxurious seats. Choosing one, he took several steps in its direction before reaching into the inner pocket of his coat to retrieve a small silver case. With little more than a flick of the wrist and a practiced manipulation he had extracted a small white papered cigarra and then replaced it. The seat he'd chosen appeared to be leather of some sort, a deepened reddish rust had been dyed into it. Hakai didn't want to guess how much it had cost - only the best for the Emperor's abode no doubt. Once seated any doubts as to the chair's quality were erased. In fact, Hakai wasn't sure he'd be able to get back up due to the comfort. For now though he had other things on his mind. Bringing the cigarra to his lips he reached into another pocket and retrieved a lighter. A *click* followed by a small flash of flame ignited the other end as tendrils of smoke rose from the ignited tobacco. Closing his eyes and taking in a deep breath a sigh escaped the Dark Sider. The flavor had been pleasing.

Vanessa Vantai had arrived to the party humbly, wearing but a simple set of Sith robes as she typically did these days. Her time indulging in rampant debauchery and hedonism had long since passed, but she was at least interested in getting involved and socializing with others. She had heard of the Emperor's new favored concubine, a thought of which wrinkled her face - she had to see this woman for herself, if she was able to become his most favored harlot. As such, she was certainly intrigued. She would slowly maneuver around the floor, perhaps eating from one of the many appetizer trays, as she waited to see who this woman was.

This would be quite interesting.

Sylara smiled when she spotted several notable guests arriving at the festivities. Their presence would no doubt be the talk of the party guests. She took her leave of the VIP balcony overlooking the party, heading down the nearby stairs to join the main party and mingle with the guests. A scantily clad Twi'lek slave girl carrying a platter of drinks approached, Sylara taking a glass of wine from said platter and taking a swig from it, before lightly caressing the slave girl's cheek. "See to it our important guests recieve whatever refreshments they require. Do well, and I'll see your efforts rewarded.", she said to the Twi'lek with a sly smile. The slave girl nodded, hurrying off to attend to them.

One of said guests caught Sylara's eye. The intelligent industrialist, Vanessa Vantai, known for mastery of many fields of science, and a potent sorceress. She swayed over to Vanessa in her high heels, bowing her head politely before she spoke to introduce herself. "Ahh, Miss Vantai! It's an honour to have you at the party. I'm Sylara, Sylara Vaal, a concubine of the Emperor and the organizer of these indulgent festivities. I trust you're enjoying the many delights on offer to our guests this fine evening?"

Vanessa paid close attention to Sylara as she caressed the cheek of the Twee before coming over and introducing herself to the Sith Lord. This was quite interesting, to say the least. Maybe Kaine had a new favored plaything that wasn’t Cryax Bane. She smiled at the Togruta’s inquiry, patting her on the head with her hand and responding.

“It’s been a long while since I’ve been to something so filled with debaucherous dights.” She said. “the last time I was a part of it was one of Avicus DuSang’s old parties, and he hasn’t been around for a long time.” She said. “ how long have you been an Imperial concubine?” This was what interested her the most.

Noise. Noise. Noise. That was what the Sith Lord experienced most during those initial moments in the party along with several surprisingly rude people, at least rude for a citizen to be to a Sith. Some cast superficially judging glances and others outright whispers of disgust at the Sith's choice of attire. Perhaps they were drunk already, or simply had yet to see the power of the Sith in action, but regardless, Raptious opted to refrain from slaying them in the grand hall.

Instead, Raptious turned to the sounds of proper attendance and gazed upon the, unsurprisingly, scantily clad Togruta dressed in black. Despite the unnecessary amounts of jewelry, makeup, and the stilettos an assassin could use, she was relatively proper for the locale present. Or perhaps it was simply because Raptious preferred the color black.

Deciding to have conversation beyond the vice grip of judging lips and doubtful expressions, the Sith Lord marched their way over to the Togruta, their eyes locked onto where the Emperor would possibly make his appearance.

"Hello," the Sith Lord grunted rather blandly, turning their eyes to the Togruta as well as the apparent known guest. "You've put together quite the spectacle, Miss Vaal."

The Sith's eyes rolled down and over to their right and examined the fellow Sith, intrigued by their apparent importance, if the Togruta's exclamations were any basis to go off of.

"Who are you? And Miss Vaal, do you have Merenzane Gold, by chance? I would very much like that drink. The entire bottle, please."

Tehkyram hated these sorts of affairs, he really did. The only reason he was even here was because he had missed too many social events as it was and this one seemed slightly less intolerable than the previous ones. Coming to Bastion had probably been a mistake on Tehkyram's part. He was lightyears away from any sort of battlefield where he could be truly comfortable, and instead he was expected to partake in these mind-numbing affairs. He was not stagnating or decaying- that would be a welcome experience. Instead, life on Bastion had become dreadful stasis, devoid of even entropy.

As he lounged in the corner of a slightly less crowded overflow room, the robed brute scowled. The music was too loud. The conversation was equally intolerably loud. The subtext of all the socializing was loathesome in its positivity. The visuals were an eyesore, far too many bright colors and not enough monolithic black. The food was all far too favorable in such a way that their mere odor offended his tastebuds. The wine...

...well the wine was nice, he supposed. That was the one thing he had learned to enjoy on Bastion, wine. Still, it did very little to ease the pain of such a lively occasion. Things have been far too peaceful for far too long. How long had it been since Tehkyram had even killed anyone, anyway? Too long.

The entrance of Hakai Shizukana did not go unnoticed, nor did the smell of smoke. It was actually a welcome reprieve for Tehkyram, to smell something burning. It reminded him of the funeral pyres of Csaplar. Such a wonderful time, such beautiful carnage. He looked to Shizukana. "Not your ideal setting either, I assume?" he inquired.

A younger Joycelyn would have despised such parties, or seen them as a mere opportunity to embarrass the family name in a spiteful campaign for individualism and attention. It was funny how things changed with a dew drops of perspective. Now, Joycelyn found events such as these to be a chance for the Princess of Dromund Kaas to further solidify her power and position as heir apparent.

Gone was the black plated armour and religious iconography she bore to bloody battle. In this arena one wielded subtleties and finesse.

Instead, her toned form was snugly wrapped in a black dress that gave the barest shimmer of deep blues when hit by light. A high split, accented with gold, revealed the high laced, heeled footwear that clicked when she walked and added even more centimetres to her staggering height. Around her head she wore a wreath of gold scales, shaped like flames. Just when she entered, Joycelyn carried a white fur draped over her shoulders to protect them from the wind outside of the massive palace structure.

She made sure to be late. She made sure she was seen when she entered. Doors opening wide at a moment's pause in the music. She stepped forward to let herself be seen while she herself was looking at no one in particular. Joyce let the white fur glide down from her shoulders and into the arms of a waiting retainer who near tripped under its weight before scurrying off. Her retainers did not hover close to her, but the observant eye could see them watching, waiting to serve.

Another retained handed her a glass, and the Princess dipped a delicately pained fingernail subtly into the liquid; a test for poison. It reported negative. Towering over the crowd with a practised smile she moved into the scene of the party.

Not all Sith despised or shunned the social ladder.

As hardly anything ever did, the approach of another patron hadn't gone unnoticed to the man, his cigarra burning a violent red with each drag. Nodding towards an adjacent seat, Hakai responded to the new arrival's inquiry. "Preferred?" he shook his head. "There is however opportunity in attending such events." The word opportunity slipped off the tongue with a peculiar emphasis. "Though I agree.." he nodded towards the main hall. "..I could do without the overwhelming cacophony. This is nice though. Cigarra?" With a subtle flick of his wrist he'd procured the small silvered case once more, extending it to the Karkarodon. Admittedly, the Ronin knew little of his new acquaintance's species. In many ways, he was intrigued.

Intrusively tall, heavily built - the call of battle couldn't possible be far from his mind. He was bred for war no doubt, with such broad and aggressive features. "Hakai Shizukana." he said, pointing to himself. "And you?" Before his new acquaintance could reply, a shimmer of gold caught his eye, his attention diverting towards the entrance. A woman had arrived, of high status no doubt given the gilded wreath which adorned her crown. Even from where he sat Hakai knew power when he saw it. Of course it was more than simple power which had drawn his gaze, the woman's appearance of regalia and bearing was intoxicating. Biting the inside of his cheek, Hakai brought his attention back to the Karkarodon. "Apologies, your name?"

"I've served the Emperor faithfully for about six months now. He's quite fond of me. He wouldn't have let me organize these festivities otherwise.", she said proudly in response to Vanessa's question, blushing slightly when her head was pat by Vanessa. She took great satisfaction in her current position, and worked hard to keep the favour she'd earned. When Lorale approached, she smiled politely at them. "Why thank you, my lord! I settled on only the best for this party, and our guests. And Merenzane Gold? Certainly. One moment.", she said, gently clapping her hands to gain the attention of one of the slaves serving drinks. The slave quickly approached, before Sylara addressed him. "Fetch a bottle of our finest Merenzane Gold for Darth Raptious here. Be swift about it.", she said with a nod, the slave quickly hurrying off to fetch the bottle.

Her attention was brought upon the new arrival. The crown princess of Dromund Kaas herself! "Please excuse me, you two. I must welcome our new arrival. Your drink will be with you shortly, my lord", she said with a smile, bowing politely to Vanessa and Lorale before strolling towards Jocelyn through the crowd. Before she properly approached, she quickly adjusted her dress, straightening it out with her hands to look presentable for the Crown Princess. When she drew close, she politely bowed to Jocelyn. "My princess, it's an honour to have you in attendance at these festivities. You look most radiant!", she said a warm, welcoming smile towards the Emperor's daughter and chosen heir.

The well timed and surely practiced arrival of the halfbreed's younger sister brought him the perfect opportunity to sneak past the majority of attention. Unlike the younger Zambrano, Vaulkhar was not quite as tall or as heavy. He was lithe, still quite fit as his epicanthix upbringing would ensure. A familiar, finely tailored suit adorned his form as he snaked between the various groupings of people. This particular gathering was smaller than the first his father hosted, but that was to be expected. The prior gathering included various other factions upon the galactic stage. While he assumed it to be a boring affair, it proved otherwise. As such, he looked forward to the evening as it continued. Not that he expected anything to come from the evening, a night out was still a night out.

Vaulkhar momentarily eyed his sister as he passed behind another group. He could see so much of his father within her. His gaze slipped away and fell onto his father's latest pet project. A togruta woman who apparently brought the night together. A smile spread across his thin lips as he looked away and instead scanned the room. The halfbreed expected to see the emperor, one of his various wives, or some other grouping of his kin. Instead, he stared upon a room of unfamiliar faces.

The Sith Lord plucked a glass of champagne from a nearby servant before continuing his rounds silently.

Old habits.

Raptious watched with keen interest as the Togruta twiddled off towards the apparent daughter of the Immortal Emperor, a reveal the Sith Lord had only just been granted to see. As strange as it was that the Emperor had a daughter so willing to appear to the masses, the fact that there were no apparent guards struck the Sith Lord as even odder.

Every experience they had with royalty always bore the promise of guards, plated and massive to deter possible assailants. Of course, Raptious had no intention, desire, or fantasy to assault the Crown Princess. Instead, personally indifferent overall to the presence of the Crown Princess, opted to retrieve the entire bottle of Merenzane Gold from the returning slave and hoist it somewhat above their head in lackadaisical fashion.

"Hail! Crown Princess...related titles, and such."

The Sith Lord quickly uncorked the bottle, a loud pop ringing out under the bass of the music, and drank the first 1/6 of the liquid. It was subtle yet sweet, aged and regal, if regal could have a taste. Their eyes turned a brighter red, blazing under the excitement of finally having the item to subdue their discomfort from the music and amount of people.

Off to the corner of the main hall sat a table of food: honeyed Nerf steak, buttered carrots, white beans and bacon, and roast nuna stuffed with mushrooms and bedjies awaited the watering mouths that approached or passed with intentions to return. The Sith Lord would have to try all of them before the night's end, but before that, they would learn who this fellow Sith was.

"Miss...Vantai, I overheard our host greet you with excitement. What is it that you do that has earned such rapport and reputation?"

Kitara was anticipating this evening for some time, she had spend the day getting her  hair done, and of course she had to buy a new dress. She couldn’t possible have shown up in one of her old dresses, but their was something to be said about the feeling of wearing something new to a function such as this. Kitara wanted to get noticed, and after all their was liquor and after that anything could happen.

By the time Kitara had arrived the party had already begun, there were already many patrons about, and well Kitara knew none of them. Most were enjoying themselves and were already engaged in conversation. Nonetheless she had already located the bar and was ready to partake in some drinks.  Leaning up against the bar, wearing a short tight sleeveless black dress, wearing her favorite knee high stiletto boots. She loved the six inch heel, mabe once or twice she may have used them as weapon smirking at the thought of a random act of pain. Running her fingers through her long blonde shoulder length hair, her fiery red eyes stared the bartender down.

Slowly he made his way over to her, probably not quite sure what to make out of this short blonde with fiery red eyes who looked like she wanted to rip his arms off. Taking a breath and looking her over he thought twice on his next choice of words afraid she might actually rip his heart out. ”What can I get for you M’lady”He asked ”Martini, in a long stem glass, make it strong my dear ”The blonde smirked. ”Of course” He was off fixing her drink, and just when he finished pouring. Bending the molecules around the glass, she pulled it through the air, landing gently between her fingers.Kitara ignored his facial gestures, she could careless at this present moment, the chaotic blonde wanted to have some fun.

A dull, blue gaze danced between each individual as they parted around him. While he did not carry the same weight or reputation as most of his family, his presence was known among the serving staff. Recognizable enough both aid and drinks were offered as he passed, which he politely declined. Setting his finished glass down, the young lord moved across the hall while seeking some semblance of entertainment. Occasionally, a particularly ambitious Sith moved towards their betters, seeking attention, an advancement of station, or some other ulterior motive. The constant posturing was amusing to an extent, but he was a soldier. And a soldier could only stomach politics for so long.

As the evening continued on, he found himself in need of another drink. Nothing interesting had quite reared its head yet. His arrival at the bar followed yet another ostentatious woman. With her arrival and order from the bartender, he was able to slip up to the bar relatively unbothered by any of the surrounding rabble. With Kitara's drink delivered, he gently knocked on the bartop.

"I'll take something strong. Top shelf," he nodded slightly to the tender before his drink was fetched, made and delivered to him. It was some strange shade of green, noticeably steaming, though it was entirely cold to the touch. "Interesting..."

Taking his drink, Vaulkhar's gaze slipped to the woman beside him. He studied her in silence for a moment.

"I find the idea of walking in those boots of yours agonizing."

Sipping her drink, turning just enough tolook him over and making it plain and obvious she was analyzing him. Placing the drink back on the counter, showing her amusement with his last comment. Not a lot of people of the opposite sex could wonder around in her favorite boots, mind you it had taken a lot of practice in her youth to master the art of walking in stiletto’s; especially a six inch heel.  Mind you she was only 5’5, and she wanted to appear taller than she was this evening.

Smiling at the choice of his drink, he either wanted to give off the impression he could handle his alcohol, or he actually needed a strong drink. Finishing her last drink she ordered another”A double “ with a mischievous smile. Kitara noticed he watched her for moment  and glanced over at him.”They do serve more than one purpose, quite painful actually when you need to defend yourself.” Not that she would need to defend herself, some have lost a few fingers because of them. Leaning against the counter she turned so she could get a better look.”Kitara and what brings you my way, I would have thought you would be  conversing somewhere…no?”Kitara takes a sip of the double martini and gives him the same mischievous smile.

Vaulkhar took a sip of his drink as she eyed him. It was ice cold and stung on the way down, though the cold was soon replaced by a comfortable heat. The after taste of the beverage was surprisingly fruity. Not quite up his alley, but it was a pleasant surprise nonetheless. He set the glass down, unphased by the drink thus far as she spoke. His gaze followed her second drink, this one stronger than the last. A curious choice given the night was still relatively young, though it wasn't his problem. Therefore it wasn't his place to judge. The half-breed sipped his drink once more before clearing his throat to speak.

"The idea of that also seems horrendous, though I suppose it can be rather useful when need be," once more his gaze was drawn to the six inch heel. After her question he returned his gaze to her own. "I'm not one for conversation, or so I've been told. You can call this an attempt to break the mold."

With each celebrant that moved near, Vaulkhar's gaze seemed to cloud. It was evident he found the vast majority of people nearby revolting. His gaze was inevitably torn from the masses and settled back onto Kitara.

"I suppose I can pose the same question to you."
