Image Source: google search for Clone Commando, found on lucasforums

Intent: Specialized Armor

Development Thread: http://starwarsrp.ne...thspawn-fringe/ (for Terentatek Hide)

http://starwarsrp.ne...s-protectorate/ (Phrik Requirement: devastating defeat at the hands of a NFU)

Manufacturer: Iron Crown Armories / AEL

Model: Terentatek-class Commando Armor

Affiliation: Fringe

Modularity: Low (interchangeable backpack)

Production: Unique

Material: Phrik, Terentatek Hide, Reflec coating

Description:

The TCA is designed for highly skilled operatives as a direct counter to Force Users. The goal is to provide an armor capable of nullifying - to a degree - the abilities of Force Powers and weapons commonly used by such personnel. The armor itself is based on the reliable design of the Katarn-class Commando Armor, a highly expensive, but specialized armor made long ago by the Republic. The Terentatek-class is a vast improvement over the previous incarnation.

  • Phrik makes up the armor plating. It offers substantial protection against small arms fire, laser cannons, explosive ordnance, and lightsabers. The plastoid armor of stormtroopers was said to make it, "impossible to kill a stormtrooper with a slugthrower unless the bullet was abnormally large, specifically armor piercing, or if it hit the body glove or visor lenses." As phrik is a substance far, far more durable than plastoid superior results can be expected. Like the Mark III Katarn-class, this armor can shrug off verpine shatter gun rounds and even take a direct hit from a laser cannon or a grenade.
  • EMP Hardened, like the Mark III Katarn.
  • The weak points are at the neck, the back of the knees, the fingers, palms, armpits, crook of the elbows, and the wrists. The visor lense is made of very thick transparisteel, but is a weakpoint as well.
  • Terentatek hide is used to line the back of the armor as well as the heavy body glove and the kama worn to protect the back of the legs. The terentatek hide serves to give substantial resistance to Force Powers. Abilities such as Dark Side Tendrils, Spear of Midnight Black, Energy Manipulation, and Force Crush have minimum to no effect. A simple Force Push will still produce results, but not as significant as otherwise.
  • Retractable vibroblades of phrik are hidden inside both knuckle-plates, like the Katarn-class armor.
  • HUD activated magnetic clamps on the boots and gauntlets enable the wearer to resist heavy winds, or the insistent tug of a Force User.
  • The armor is environmentally sealed and the wearer can survive for five minutes in a vacuum, or in other hazardous conditions that affect the air.
  • Reflec coating on the armor absorbs light and stops sensors, providing additional stealth bonus. It gives the armor its dark color.
  • As with previous models including the Katarn and Stormtrooper armors, the T-class armor is extremely resistant to heat and cold. However, prolonged exposure is not recommended as a fire will most certainly consume the wearer's body glove after extended contact.
  • The armor offers minimal protection against radiation aside from the environmental seal.

Classification: Commando Armor

Weight: 6.8kg

Quality: 8

Other Feature(s):

  • Voice and Blink interactive HUD with IFF tagging and Thermal, Night, Infrared, and Holographic vision.

  • Advanced Breathing Filters that protect against biological, chemical, and toxins in the air.
  • Atmosphere control systems
  • Anti-Flash Blinding Automatic Polarizing Lenses
  • Holographic Vision Processors: allows vision through barriers such as smoke, darkness, and fire
  • Reifflex Cellular Padding to prevent head injury
  • TCA can be fitted with a variety of backpacks exactly like those of the Katarn-class armor.

@Dak Canton

OK, right off the bat we’ve got two big issues here.

First; limited production is no-go. When you do dev threads for restricted items, you’re doing them for yourself. This armour has to be unique simply by virtue of the fact that it requires a dev thread.

Second; two lightsabre/force resistant materials AND alchemy? That’s…ouch. That’s enough for a one-shot deny even without the above.

But you’ve put work into this, and I don’t think it’s fair to just chop this down.

But I’m going to want this either made unique, or made so that the limited production version has non-restricted/dev thread materials.

If this is a one off it doesn’t look bad otherwise, but I strongly recommend against including alchemy at all (it serves no function here) and cut down on the terentatek hide.

EDIT: Also, the dev thread for the Phrik is very unsatisfactory. It will need to be significantly longer before it is accepted.

First off, thanks for the review! Now on to the details.

Second; two lightsabre/force resistant materials AND alchemy? That’s…ouch. That’s enough for a one-shot deny even without the above.

There is only one lightsaber resistant material: phrik. The Terentatek hide used is not thick enough to be considered lightsaber resistant. Maybe the kama would be resistant, but not by a whole lot. I don't recall terentatek hides as being lightsaber resistant, just really, really thick. The alchemized knuckle-daggers are explicitly not lightsaber resistant, but I'll be getting rid of those.

But I’m going to want this either made unique, or made so that the limited production version has non-restricted/dev thread materials.

Will be unique.

I strongly recommend against including alchemy at all (it serves no function here)

The purpose of the alchemized blades is to function as lightning rods for those pesky dark siders. Too much, you think?

Also, the dev thread for the Phrik is very unsatisfactory. It will need to be significantly longer before it is accepted.

Of course, that's why this is a WIP. Just wanted to flesh the idea out while it was still fresh in my head and work out the kinks beforehand.

Okay, so correct me if I'm wrong but if I -

1- remove the alchemical blades

2- make it unique

3- actually finish the dev threads

Then the phrik + terentatek hide with described effects will be hunky-dory?

Edit: edits made. How's it lookin' boss?

The dev thread for phrik is finished, so this is ready to be reviewed by @Tamara or anyone else. I am claiming it as a devastating defeat at the hands of a NFU.

Just a few things.

First, bump the weight up to 12kg. Phrik is light, but not that light. Plus the leather bodyglove and such, you're looking at some decent weight.

Second, you're missing a few points of weakness. Weakpoints under the arms and the waist itself. Those points are very hard to armor appropriately without removing mobility entirely. Also the gloves. Those would be leather with the phrik handplate on teh back of the hand. The palms and fingers would be vulnerable to enemy fire and hand to hand weapons.

Lastly, how does this armor fair against fire and radiation?

I looked through the stormtrooper armor page on wookieepedia as well as the Katarn-class armor page. I couldn't find anything on this other than the armor being extremely protective against heat and cold. So fires are bad if you stand right in the middle of a very large one, but otherwise you'll be fine. Radiation will kill you though. The only protection is the environmental seal.

I also did a number of edits to include cool features that are common in the stormtrooper and katarn-class on the wookieepedia. Let me know if you need the source for any of them and I'll get it pronto.
