If something is vong shaped or whatever, does that means it is automatically force dead? Like, what is vong shaping anyway? Is it a like, breeding or injecting certain traits into a creature until it reaches the final product, or straight up bio-engineered via DNA or...?

To my knowledge vong shaping refers specifically to the creation of biological technology using the methods of the Yuuzhan Vong. So like all of their creatures, starships, biots, etc. I could be wrong but I do not believe they automatically become force-dead but that is a common attribute.

You might seek out answers from Reverance or Tefka for Vong-specific things. Those two are the local Vong wizards.

It's heavily hinted in the wiki that all things derived from the Yuuzhan Vong are equally separated from the Force, but I've no answer for things created in this Galaxy by the Yuuzhan Vong.

A small number of Jedi developed another ability, the Vongsense. In some ways, this ability worked similarly to the Force, but only relating to the Yuuzhan Vong and their biots |

The existence of Vongsense and continual reference to their biots as a separate entity affected by this absence from the Force is pretty heavy evidence that biots are meant to be separated from the Force, as their creators are.

More evidence I can find, found here in the wiki, suggests that recreation of biots have difficulty touching the Force. But it's not impossible. Just defects are expected.

It is theorized that Sekot, the planetary force presence of the planet Zonama Sekot, can restore the Force to the Yuuzhan Vong (and in turn their living technology). So any Vong who left with Nas Choka in the events of The Unifying Force on the planet might have been affected by Sekot's powers. It's unknown what happens, though.

It should be noted that Yammosks are a wildcard to this summarization. They can be felt through the Force, and they can feel Jedi through the Force.

And Onimi attained usage of the Force by grafting yammosk skin to his brain.

So how Yammosks are factored into this equation, I do not know - but everything else points towards Yuuzhan Vong and all living creatures who serve them are absent from the Force, so long as they are created with materials or methods from the Yuuzhan Vong galaxy.

What is the usual dev-thread length required to genetically engineer a new species of sentient?

That is the discretion of the judge. It honestly depends on how they feel about the submission.

You seem to be the go-to.

I am interested in recreating the ghouls from Tokyo Ghoul, but with several changes and low population to fit in the Star Wars universe.

Would I be able to do that?

You can do just about whatever you'd like as far as submissions go (within reason). Crossovers are not allowed but creating a species that is inspired by that from another fictional universe (or IRL, too!) is not only allowed but I'd argue that most submissions are.

Feel free to do so, just make sure your submission isn't a complete copy of what you're basing it off of. :)

Since you answered the other questions.. I have one.

Would making the gauntlet that steals souls from Onimusha into a symbiotic creature that feeds on the force of living organisms be valid?

What sort of limits are their to creating a creature with lightsaber resistant hide like the amphistaff? I was thinking of making some creatures that feed on energy and multiply in water (like the mogwi from gremlins) and is that sort of thing alowed? Thank you!

I'm not familiar with what you speak of but there are already creatures in star wars that feed off of the force. Energy vampires, force vampires, and Anzat are all examples. So yes that is a valid ability.

Just about anything is allowed as long as it's written well enough and balanced. In most cases a judge will likely ask for a dev thread on any species with lightsaber resistance properties and if it's going to multiply as quickly as the gremlins did you're probably going to have to add in very substantial weaknesses to make it worth it.

Again, whether or not something is allowed is up to the individual judge and how they feel about you submission. :)

I mean like a symbiote that feeds off the force of others, and can be worn as a piece of armor. At least that is my intent with it. The gauntlet I'm referring to was in an old game i played called Onimusha Warlords

Living armour does exist in canon. As with the ability to feed off of the force? Feel free to make something like that happen, just it'd probably best belong as a factory sub rather than a species.

Well, I'd make a species first, then it as a factory sub.

I was wondering if geneticly spliced creatures are alright to make. Example: Human DNA spliced with Animal DNA?
