Description: The One Sith Navy is not a particularly dynamic force, and is renowned for its brutality and effectiveness at maximizing firepower and durability of its ships. Among smaller vessels, this is particular true with the Boneshatter-class Assault Frigate. Designed from the ground up as a brawler and anti-frigate-frigate, it was quickly adopted as the standard frigate of the navy. Being a rather specialized ship however, it had key weaknesses, and as the One Sith became an established role proved unable to fulfill roles other than being a front-line combatant. A new ship was needed, one that could meet the variety of roles required as a patrol and escort ship but still be capable in the high-energy tactics and violent offensives that characterize Sith naval strategy.
The Fenris-class frigate is an attempt to meet these demands. Building off construction techniques utilized across One Sith ships, the basic hull and internal superstructure of the ship is made from turadium, resulting in a generally very durable ship. Armor plating consists of layers of duranium and terenthium/desh with a quadanium steel backing. The armor is layered particularly heavy on the prow of ship, a kilik design feature adopted from the legendarily tough Wyyrlok-class Destroyers.
Weaponry is fairly unimpressive, but does feature a variety of weaponry unique to the Sith, giving the ship respectable versatility at close and standard range. Beyond the possibility of certain warheads however, it has no dedicated long-range weapons, a possibly exploitable vulnerability.
Part of being a patrol ship means the Fenris-class has a decent hanger, normally consisting of simply two squadrons of the Allegiant-class Fighter, which otherwise lack hyperdrives. The Fenris-class frigate was developed concurrently with the advanced Erebos-class Starfighter, and the hanger bay can undergo some small modifications to allow it to act as a sort of mothership or tender for several squadrons of Erebos fighters. In such a configuration, the Warrior lacks the ability to transport any fighters for an extended period of time, though it can fit a single squadron on board for short hops through hyperspace.
Beyond that the class has few particularly defining features. It does an excellent job of filling the gaps in a frigate line when deployed alongside Boneshatters, and is generally effective as a patrol frigate. As the One Sith continue to expand and are forced to spread their fleet out to cover more ground, it can be expected that the Fenris will replace the Boneshatter as the most ubiquitous frigate of the One Sith.
With the collapse of the One Sith the once ubiquitous Fenris-class Frigate found itself acquired by many different parties, including the First Order. While the Imperials would go on to update and modernize the ship, it found a home amongst dozens of pirate, corporate, and minor system factions. Given the sheer number of these ships in service, it was not a surprise when the design schematics themselves were uncovered and sold across the galaxy.
Intent: To create a general purpose/line frigate to complement the very offensively minded Boneshatter. Also for use as a mothership for the Erebos-class Fighters.
