#1788607 Lift the Ban on Hypergates

Posted by Jamie Pyne on 18 May 2018 - 10:12 PM

Alternatively, you could just have Tier 1 and Tier 2 restricted materials. No Tier 2 restricted materials can be mixed together. Any Tier 1 restricted material can be mixed with a single T1 or T2 restricted material. But only at Unique levels as Tech only. Or something stupid like that.

This is actually an interesting suggestion and does give something to think about. Thanks :)

Why not revisit RM mixing

I will actually answer this, because it's a fair question.

The primary reason I wont revisit this idea is because it complicates things. If I start drawing up a sheet of This can be mixed with this, this, and that, but not these. This here can be mixed with this and this but not that, then within that very same announcement, the first post in response will be "This is too complicated, the restriction should be entirely lifted to make things easier." And I just don't want to travel down that road because I know full well precisely where it leads to. The reason it is this way is because it's simple and clear and requires no cross-checking on behalf of members or judges.

#1788479 Nanotechnology Ruling Update

Posted by Jamie Pyne on 18 May 2018 - 06:47 PM

Brief update:

As of now, Nanotechnology has been moved from the Banned list to the Restricted list.

As with other restricted materials, this may not be combined with any other restricted material, and subsequently follows the same rules for their use, balance, and implementation in future factory submissions. To see the complete list of restricted materials please check this thread.

Enjoy, and don't abuse it, you gremlins.

This seems to be affecting a number of people. I've raised it to the attention of the admins.

#1785778 Merrill-Valkner Sundiver Field Projector

Posted by Jamie Pyne on 14 May 2018 - 05:00 PM

This is an interesting submission. I do think it may be a bit unrealistic even for star wars in terms of the canon version somehow being able to ward off over 8,000 degrees kelvin for an indefinite period of time, but I don't see this ever coming to pass where it will be abused so I will pass it without issue.

#1785607 Change the Mandate Update Protocol

Ever Dawnracer

I agree. This could stand to be better defined and perhaps be given a thread of its own. Though I am generally the one who updates the mandates as well, so the lack of removal for the recalled factions is also partially my fault. I can bring this up with staff for a discussion.

Rex Taff I am going to approve this however if this ends up being used to call half a dozen allies in an invasion and gets reported this will be pulled.

[ + ] Very high degree of protection against blasters, swords, and knives.

[ + ] Extreme protection from EMP/Ion.

[ + ] Lightweight and form-fitted, allowing full range of motion.

[ + ] Gravity boots allow for quick escapes or terrain traversing.

[ + ] Field disruptor allows the wearer to bypass standard shields unopposed.

[ - ] No protection from explosives, acid based chemicals, and sonic weaponry.

[ - ] Does not protect from the vacuum of space or severe elements.

[ - ] Due to the Asheran Armorweave, it is incredibly susceptible to electricity.

[ - ] Does not protect the face in any capacity.

This armor is created using a combination of Asheran Armorweave, Flex-Armor, Pyronium, and a body-glove. Given the lightweight materials, it affords the wearer a full range of motion, as well as incredible protection from blasters, slugthrowers, swords, and knives. Additionally, the properties found in Asheran Armorweave give the wearer a moderately enhanced defense from lightsabers. While not on par with other materials such as Phrik, Beskar, or Songsteel, the armorweave will protect the wearer from multiple strikes, provided they have not been delivered in close proximity to one another, thereby destroying the interwoven fibers. Pyronium has been added to the armor to prevent damage to the sensitive electronics within the armor. Additions to the suit include gravity boots for rapid traversing or quick escapes, a personal energy shield, high powered thermal torch, field disruptor, long range comlink, and a self-injection bacta dose. Given its lightweight nature and thin fabric, the armor provides no protection from explosives, sonic weaponry, acid based chemicals, nor will it prevent the transfer of energy from high kinetic impacts to the wearer. Broken bones and other, similar injuries are still possible, even if the armor is not penetrated.

#1784000 Suggestion: Remove Civilian Ship Size Limits

This suggestion was not implemented in full. It was taken into consideration and revised. The rules as they are now are the accepted response to the suggestion.

#1783559 Second Chance

Posted by Jamie Pyne on 10 May 2018 - 07:36 PM

Sala'dine I will approve this for a second chance however it will need to be drastically more descriptive in its abilities and limitations. I will move it to the pre-factory so that this can be done, after which it will be re-judged, if you'd like.

#1783323 Lift the Ban on Nanotechnology & Lightsaber Rifles

Posted by Jamie Pyne on 10 May 2018 - 11:10 AM

Lightsaber rifles are staying banned. That’s their home now, and they like it there. Y’all can discuss as much as you want the reasons for unbanning it, but the decision is made.

Nanotech doesn’t tickle me one way or the other. I like the idea of it, but as was already stated, it has already been voted on (twice I believe) and failed both times. But hey, if you want to try for a third, by all means lets get all aboard the nano train.

#1781918 Second Chance

Posted by Jamie Pyne on 07 May 2018 - 09:59 PM

Sala'dine - Reviewing this request.

Karlie Lynn Destat - I will only state this once and assume that it is understood going forward. Maintain polite and professional behavior. A second offense of that nature will incur a ban from the factory.
