Continuing the reveals from yesterday in our preview series, today we will be going over the remaining five signpost uncommons and the themes they are meant to represent:
The pairing of White/Black has the theme of Balance and has a split focus between Jedi and Sith as they vie for control over a new mechanic known as the Balance and a new form of counters known as Light counters and Dark counters.
Whenever you play certain cards, it prompts the Balance to shift to you and to put your choice of a Light counter or a Dark counter on yourself. So long as you control the Balance, Jedi cards you control with the new ability word Serenity gain additional affects and abilities as long as you have the needed number of Light counters. The same holds true for Sith cards you control with the new ability word malice gain additional affects and abilities as long as you have the needed number of Dark counters.
The pairing of Blue/Red has the theme of Force Powers Matters and has a heavy focus on utilizing Force Power Actions and Commands in rapidity. To help facilitate this, many Force Power cards from previous sets have been reprinted and remastered for our modern design philosophy, along with the introduction of brand-new cards for Force Powers we have not showcased before. This theme is also supported by the reworked keyword Focus that gives cards with it +1/+1 until end of turn for each Action, Command, Mandate, or Sorcery you play during that turn, with Focus appearing primarily on Jedi and Sith cards that are Blue or Red.
The pairing of Black/Green has the theme of Unnatural Nature and is heavily dominated by Sith Alchemists and Sorcerers and their proclivity for forcibly adapting lifeforms into new forms. Representing this, we have introduced a new keyword action known as Alter and a new type of counter known as a Biomass counter. When a player activates Alter, they remove a Biomass counter from the card with that keyword action and then "evolve" another card they control with a counter or ability, making them into a Sithspawn in addition to its other types. To further support this color, we have slightly reworked the keyword action Biogenesis to require Biomass counters as well for its activation cost and have brought back Mutate.
The pairing of Red/White has the theme of Power and Protection and has a focus on stronger Jedi and Sith cards "protecting" a weaker card, typically an Acolyte, Padawan, or Youngling. While a new mechanic was not introduced for this color pairing, cards you want to draft or construct a deck around this pairing typically will have an additional benefit as long as you control an Acolyte, Padawan, or Youngling that boosts the guardian card so to speak.
The pairing of Green/Blue has the theme of Natural Harmony and has a heavier focus in Jedi Consulars and Sentinels as they work to protect the natural order and live in harmony with the galaxy. Many cards in this pairing benefit from the Nature ability word introduced in Clans of the Resol'nare, while they gain additional abilities while you control non-Sithspawn Creatures or are more effective in combat against Sith and Sithspawn cards as they go against the evils that have warped nature out of balance.
The company would like to thank all of our loyal players and collectors for their continued support, and we look forward to sharing more about the set next week in the lead up to our Life Day launch of the Ancient Cycle.
