I have never ready anything quite like this.

Just about every part of Love as Hard as Beskar butchers the beautiful intricacies of my people's proud traditions. As a long time fan, it frustrates me to say that Lady Velvet gets almost every aspect of Mandalorian culture wrong.

Lady Velvet manages to turn the boring, cold, reaches of space into a hot and steamy adventure beyond the stars. Who would have thought the tough as nails Captain would have such a soft spot for his Lady, even after she was a stowaway! The way he invited her to his cabin, my word. I read it all over the span of two days - highly recommend and hope there is a sequel.

I hope Lady Velvet releases a more subdued cover in the future, these are hard to steal from my parent's bedroom and keep hidden. Just something discreet for more public reading is all.

Impossible to put down!

People keep mailing me these damned books and I'm kind of losing my mind. The covers alone are enough to drive me insane. Why is his lightsaber on, that should be slicing through him like butter. I don't know what the implication of sending these to me is but I would like to ask people to not send this book as a gift to random public figures.

I always have a love for the romance and steamy passions of the protagonists in these novels, a slight guilty pleasure of mine and I was so glad to see there were more volumes released! I craved more from Lady Velvet!

I will comment that Love as hard as Beskar was an interesting read for me but I do think there was a lack of tension in the form of fighting. Perhaps something to explore in the future!

Lady Velvet's works are unexpectedly powerful for what they are.

What's obscene content to some is empowerment to others. Velvet's five new novels explore love and hate, pleasure and pain, power and submission, consent and respect, giving and taking. Every being experiences intimate fantasies, but few allow themselves to truly engage with them. I imagine that on at least one of these pages is something that each reader will resonate with.

Should we choose to, we have the freedom to read with anonymity, which protects us from judgement of our societies and sometimes even ourselves. Velvet herself has chosen to write anonymously, perhaps for similar reasons. Let's respect that.

Under the Tatooine Suns is a flagrant affront to the Ghorfa peoples of Tatooine. The cover alone depicts an individual adopted by a tribe exposing their body outside of the confines of a private setting. Any true adherent of the culture would sooner gut themselves than live with the shame of being seen like that.

Despite my (many) misgivings with this story. It is admittedly this is a step (albeit a small one) in the right direction for representing The Sand People as anything other than savage, uncaring monsters. They are completely capable of empathy and compassion as the story shows.

"Passion of the Parsecs" Review

Let's just look at this cover. The gold dress? Gorgeous, dramatic, probably needs its own cargo hold. The captain? Shirtless but still wearing his hat like it's his last shred of protocol. If you're wearing a uniform hat but no shirt, you're making Choices.

The starship suite? Fancy. I respect the panoramic views and throw pillows, but let's talk plot. An Imperial captain risking his career to smuggle the love of his life? That's either romantic or reckless stupidity. It's like smuggling spice, except the spice wears sparkly heels. And somehow, the Empire doesn't catch him after chapter four? Sure.

Romance across the stars sounds thrilling, but tossing a character's entire career for convenience? Come on, Lady Velvet. What's next? He joins the Rebellion because she bakes good nerfburgers? Half a star for the backdrop—it's architecturally perfect. Final score: 4 out of 10. 2 points for the visuals, 2 for commitment to shirtless captaining. Lose the hat, Captain.

This cover? All about the drama. The red gown? Stunning. That cape sweep deserves its own chapter. And the Sith's boots? Where can I buy those?

The noblewoman is leaning in like she's trying to redeem the Sith with kissing power, while the Sith lounges like she's already won. Love on the edge of light and dark? Poetic. But why is the Jedi-adjacent lady always leaning? Where's the chapter where she force-pushes the Sith out of bad decisions?

The pacing felt quiet—more wistful stares than duels—but there's a niceness to it. It's sapphic, soft, and full of hand-holding in doom fortresses. The molten sunset? Perfect for cryptic lines like, 'You were my only weakness.' Final thoughts: The gowns? Iconic. The romance? Quiet, but sweet. 6.5 out of 10—3 points for the visuals, 3.5 for the angst.

"Under the Tatooine Suns" Review

The cover delivers. The red dress? Stunning. But it's Tatooine. Sand. Coarse, rough, everywhere. She's wearing heels in a desert, and somehow she hasn't tripped into a dune? Girl, I'm worried about your hydration levels.

The Tusken Raider romance? Bold. The masked heartthrob scenes were oddly touching—him rescuing her from the sandstorm was surprisingly sweet. But half his lines are translated 'HURRR-GURRR' footnotes. I get what he's saying, but it's still funny.

The twin suns are perfect for silhouettes and tearful embraces, but let's not pretend life on Tatooine is romantic. Sand, blisters, banthas—it's miserable. And yet, somehow, it works. Final score: 5.5 out of 10. 2 points for the dress, 2 for sunsets, and 1.5 because Lady Velvet made Tusken brooding kinda hot. I don't know whether to be impressed or concerned for my taste.

The tagline—'The helmet stays on'—got me snickering immediately. Love as unbreakable as beskar? Ridiculous, but somehow… I get it.

The Mandalorian drama is peak entertainment. Rival love interests dueling for the leading lady? Yes. There's literally a fight on a starship hull while she watches through the viewport. Lady Velvet said, 'Let's add explosions to the pining.' Respect.

The best friend, though? He sidelines himself with sweet gestures—flowers in her cockpit, ration packs—and she ignores him. I spent half the book yelling, 'He's RIGHT THERE!' The ending hurt. I won't spoil it, but someone missed their chance, and it hit like a beskar gauntlet to the gut.

Final score: 7.5 out of 10. 3 for the fights, 2.5 for the triangle I couldn't look away from, and 2 because somehow 'the helmet stays on' became romantic. I'm frustrated and I loved every second.

"The Jedi's Fall for the Sith" Review

I'm just going to say it: I loved this book. Yes, it's trashy. Yes, it's predictable. But I regret nothing. Sometimes you just want a Jedi and a Sith to glare across a burning battlefield, yell 'I hate you because you make me feel things!' and then duel their way into each other's hearts.

The dramatic tension? Top tier. One duel literally happens in a storm, lightning flashing while they monologue between swings. He's like, 'You cannot redeem me,' and she sobs, 'I'm not trying to!' I got chills. Actual chills. The crumbling castle staircase duel? Perfection.

Tropes? Every single one. The denial phase. The 'wounded Sith gets tender care' scene. The 'stuck in a cave overnight' hand-holding moment. It's bad. It's so bad. But it's also so good.

That said, why is she wearing a gold crown during a lightsaber duel? And the Sith? Shirtless with four belts. I guess intimidation requires abs. Bonus points for the black horse on the cover. Does it appear? No. But the vibe? Immaculate.

Final score: 9 out of 10. Over-the-top, impractical, and everything I didn't know I needed. If you love forbidden duels, enemies-to-lovers angst, and galaxy-shattering romance, this delivers. I'll be rereading it, and I regret nothing.

The Jedi's Fall for the Sith

In the shadows of my enclave on Mustafar, I stumbled across this book recently. I have no doubt about which guest left this filth behind. The confused looking horse on the cover should have been the first warning. But as curiosity piqued, I began thumbing through the pages of this so called “romance novel.” This genre is generally one I would typically deem beneath the more ambitious narratives of power and conquest that I’d prefer to indulge in.

It was impossible to suppress my frustration and anger even as I read the first few lines. The main character, just as weak as I expected, had nothing more that concerns revolving around love affairs and misunderstandings we Sith easily find clarity through in meditation. Phrases like “You complete me!” and “Love conquers all!” were more annoying than the buzz of a nerf fly. It was distracting and completely insufferable.

It didn’t take long for the plot to unfold. It was nothing more than petty arguments, followed by, might I dare say…fateful encounters. Where was the intrigue? The ambition? Rather than battle for domination of the galaxy, there was nothing but declarations of love.

Why didn’t they plot to overthrow the empire instead?

Ah, and don’t forget the completely predictable ‘happily ever after’. After closing the book, I fed it to the molten rivers just outside my window. This book is insanely shallow. I would not recommend it to anyone. Reading it would only take away the desire for greatness.
