Ether's Final Judgement

“Caltin…” Her voice emerged, filled with longing and strength, yet tinged with a profound sadness. “I’ve missed you so much.” And then, all too suddenly, he felt the tug of her connection wane, as if she were strained against the very fabric of existence in her efforts to reach him.

Chrysa, don’t! You must focus on yourself! he called, realizing too late the toll it was taking on her.

“No, Caltin,” she replied, her voice steady despite the tremor beneath. “You may not think it, but my connection… it’s what ties me to you. I will give this all up, for you. You need to be free to forge ahead; this is what I have to do.”

No! He felt panic rise within him, trying to reject her sacrifice. You can’t do this. You don’t have to give up everything for me. But as he protested, the truth of her resolve bore down on him. With every passing moment, he felt her presence growing dimmer, as if she were exerting every ounce of her being in a desperate act of love. The shimmering aura that surrounded them flickered perilously. Here was a force more potent than what he had envisioned, capable of breaking through any barrier set by fate.

“Caltin, my love,” she spoke gently. “I want you to live. If this is what it takes to help you reclaim your strength, then I will do it. But you must promise me… you will not let my sacrifice be in vain.”

Tears burned in his eyes as he felt the raw power of her love explode within him, lighting up the darkness that had clouded his heart for too long. Chrysa! he cried out, desperation echoing through him. I can’t lose you.

“You won’t lose me,” she reassured him, and he could feel her resolve surging through the bond, wrapping around him, coiling like a protective embrace. “I will always be with you, in the light, no matter where this takes you.” In that moment, Caltin realized the depths of her love—the profound courage it took for her to step into this unknown realm, for the sake of their family. The ether around them shimmered wildly as if acknowledging the magnitude of her sacrifice. He focused deeply, channeling her strength and love, willing the connection to flourish and expand.

With one last pulse of light from her essence, he felt the heaviness lift, the clarity returning, a powerful reminder that it wasn’t just the Force that moved through him but the love they had shared, transcending the boundaries of life and death. Thank you, he whispered, his heart aching yet filled with a renewed fire. I promise I will fight for us, for Connel, for everything you’ve given. I won’t let your sacrifice go in vain.

As he steadied himself, preparing to face whatever lay ahead, he felt her warmth surround him one last time—a guiding star illuminating his way forward. With each breath, he channeled all that she had bestowed upon him, the ties that bound them transforming into anchors of hope, igniting his spirit as he stood on the precipice of a new journey—one that would honor her love and the lives they fought to reclaim. She would not die from this, but this was clearly something that could never be repeated.

Caltin stirred from the depths of oblivion, awakening to the astonishing realization that he had been granted a remarkable second chance at life. The sensation was almost electric, a vibrant energy coursing through his being and filling him with an invigorating warmth that hinted at newfound possibilities. Although his physical form bore the indelible marks of his arduous past, he felt an exhilarating sense of youthfulness, as if he were stepping into a world brimming with opportunity. As he took in his surroundings, a profound serenity enveloped him, wrapping around his emotions like a gentle embrace.

This clarity illuminated the once-shadowed corners of his mind, allowing him to experience his feelings without the weight of turmoil that had plagued him for so long. Yet, alongside this sense of rebirth came a profound challenge. He found himself grappling with the Force, that elusive current of energy that had once surged effortlessly through his veins. Now, it felt distant and fragmented, requiring him to confront the uncomfortable truth that mastery was no longer instinctual. Rather than perceiving this as a setback, Caltin embraced it as a necessary part of his journey, a poignant reminder that true growth often arises from facing adversity head-on.

He recognized that to reclaim his former self, he must embark on an inward journey to reconnect with the roots of his identity as a Jedi Master. With unwavering determination, Caltin understood that he needed to rediscover the teachings and principles that had once been his guiding light. This journey was not merely a regression; it represented an opportunity to fortify his core beliefs and skills. He resolved to shed the heavy mantle of the Vanguard he had become, allowing himself to embrace the fundamental tenets of the Jedi once more. In this moment of reflection, he recognized that hope awaited him, a brilliant beacon illuminating his path ahead.

With each step towards this rediscovery, Caltin felt a sense of purpose rekindling within him, propelling him toward a future rich with promise, unwavering strength, and the possibility of profound transformation. With each breath, he channeled all the love and strength she had given him, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. He knew the path ahead would be challenging, but with her love as his guide, he was ready to face any obstacle. Then she walked into the room. She was alive.

He could not sense her, but she was there, and they were together. She did not give up her life. She gave him her connection to the Force. She would have, he would not let her.

None of that mattered now. They were together again.

Thank you Alyscia, thank you Connel, and most of all, thank you Chrysa.
