THE 908TH STORMTROOPER LEGION
REBORN
Eight hundred years later, the 908th rose up once more against Sith oppressors. As a result, the legion's legacy of defiance and valor was REBORN.
TIP OF THE SPEAR
WILL OF THE EMPEROR
The 908th Legion is one of the most decorated units in the Imperial Army, its mere presence on the battlefield inspiring its allies and driving fear into the hearts of those who dare stand against the Emperor's will. On battlefields from Bastion to Csilla and the Tion Cluster, the 908th is distinguished not only by its unique emblem, but also by the exceptional bravery and craftiness of its troopers.
The 908th does not fear battle, and its confidence is well-earned. As a stormtrooper of the 908th, you will be part of one of the most effective fighting units in galactic history, the stormtrooper legion. Equipped with an imposing sheet of white armor recognizable by even the most reclusive Outer Rim hermits, each and every stormtrooper of the 908th Legion is a cutting-edge fighting machine.
Even among the elite of the 908th Legion, there are those who do exceptional deeds. If you seek to go above and beyond in your service to the Empire, the 908th's Special Forces Division (SFD) is the place for you. Consisting of nearly 20% of all 908th Legion stormtroopers, the SFD troopers are the second-largest special forces unit in the entire Empire, surpassed only by Imperial Special Operations Command itself. In the 908th's SFD, innovation reigns supreme, with new types of stormtroopers being devised and tested almost monthly. The most successful of these projects have been the Jumptrooper Program, Flametrooper Program, and the highly secretive Zero-G Program, whose results were declassified only recently.
BUILT TO DEFY
REBORN ANEW
As a BLHQ cadet, you will be given comprehensive lessons on the history of warfare spanning from the days of the Old Republic to the contemporary wars of the Empire against its many antagonists. Using state-of-the-art simulation technology, you will be given the chance to lead armies in such battles as Geonosis I, Hoth, Endor, and Csilla, testing your leadership skills against an AI that adapts to your every move. The lore of the 908th and its legacy of defiance are key elements of BLHQ's academic culture, with each class making an annual pilgrimage to the ruins of the fort and honoring the grave of Captain Jared Cassel, whose heroic sacrifice inspires us all to defy the odds and secure victory from the jaws of defeat.
Among the BLHQ cadets, the most promising are given a chance to enroll in the Special Forces Division Academy (SFDA) at the beginning of their third year of training at BLHQ. An academy within an academy, the SFDA trains aspiring stormtroopers in numerous specialized forms of combat, often using the vast environment around the main BLHQ campus to simulate real operation zones. For example, Lake Cassel, a large freshwater lake about six kilometers west of the main campus, is used primarily for training aquatic assault stormtroopers, who are tasked with fighting the Empire's underwater foes.
If you distinguish yourself even among the SFDA cadets, you may be given the chance to be among the elite 1% of stormtroopers, taking part in two years of extremely rigorous and secretive training. Out of this elite class emerges death troopers, shadow troopers, nova troopers, and the recently declassified Zero-G troopers.
TIDE OF STEEL
A WILL, A WAY
About 60% of the 908th Legion's manpower consists of ordinary stormtroopers, often referred to as "bucketheads" or "regulars". However, do not let these basic names fool you into doubting their power. The regulars of the 908th have earned a reputation on the battlefield as the first of the legion to arrive and the last of the legion to leave, taking on the brunt of the Empire's enemies. Trained for years in advanced combat theory, the 908th's regular stormtroopers are formidable combatants and either equal or superior to almost every foe that they have ever faced. Furthermore, there are some minor specializations within the wider canvas of bucketheads. Equipped with sturdier armor and machine guns, heavy troopers lead the charge, mowing down dozens of enemies in seconds. Combat medics play a vital role for the entire legion, ensuring that more of its soldiers of all stripes stay in the fight for longer. Snipers pick off key enemy targets, keeping hostile armies off balance as the 908th's vanguard smashes them to pieces.
Another 20% of the 908th Legion serves inside armored vehicles. From nimble and well-armed AT-STs to massive AT-AT walkers and everything in between, the 908th's armored operators are capable of piloting the Empire's most formidable war machines. The 908th Armor excels at punching through even the toughest of targets, opening the way for infantry to swarm into the gaps.
The Special Forces Division makes up an entire 20% of the 908th, following its emphasis on operational flexibility. Some units, such as the 3rd Scout Battalion, frequently cooperate with Infantry and Armor to give them vital battlefield intelligence. Other units, such as the 14th Flametrooper Battalion, function as largely independent forces whose operations are restricted to battlefields where they can exploit their unique skills. Regardless, the SFD is able to apply a finer touch to the 908th's operations, ensuring that the Empire's enemies are not safe no matter where they flee.
A THOUSAND TRAILS
NO MOUNTAIN TOO TALL
Among the ranks of the 908th SFD are scout troopers, jetpack-carrying jumptroopers, demolition experts, military engineers, aquatic assault troopers, incinerator troopers, beach-dwelling shoretroopers, and many more. Most commonly organized on the company level (~200 soldiers), SFD units provide a more intimate environment for troopers to refine their skills and build lifelong bonds of camaraderie. Within the 908th Legion, SFD troopers are given broad powers in order to better put their knowledge into practice, with SFD privates having the authority of Infantry or Armor sergeants. Furthermore, more specialized members of the SFD are often given high stakes "special ops" missions, where they operate without any outside support for hours at a time to secure critical objectives with incredible precision.
The most elite soldiers of the SFD are shrouded in secrecy, even within the SFD itself. Composed almost exclusively of SFDA top graduates, the SFD's elite are typically organized in groups of 100 or fewer, with a significant emphasis on individual quality. These units are among the most feared in the entire Empire, consisting of death trooper squads, nova trooper platoons, and the 1st Spacetrooper Company, which recently disabled and captured a Chiss battlecruiser above Nirauan without a single casualty.
