One the Job Training (Solo)

Title: Shadows in Training

Genre: Action

Setting: Training Facility, Corellia

EXT. CORELLIAN TRAINING FACILITY - DAY

The sun is high, casting sharp shadows from the trees lining the state-of-the-art training grounds. Various groups of COMMANDOS and a lone JEDI train, a mixture of technology and the Force playing out in their routines. Among them, CONNEL VANAGOR, a confident and snarky Jedi Shadow, moves with purpose, his robe fluttering up until he sheds it as he weaves through the array of obstacles—a combination of agility and tactical maneuvers.

Nearby, a COMMANDING OFFICER stands overseeing the training, LT. BREN ALAZAR Code Name “Michael”, arms crossed, a hard look in his eyes. His dark uniform contrasts starkly against the bright environment, but beneath his stern demeanor lies a determination to push his team to their limits. The last mission his team was on was a disaster, and that cannot happen again. Even if they had to let a Jedi train with them.

INT. TRAINING FACILITY – COMMAND CENTER

The command center buzzes with activity as the candidates for the elite group known as OMEGA SQUAD prepares for their training session. Holo-screens display simulations, and strategy discussions echo through the high-tech space.

LT. ALAZAR
(turning to Omega Squad)
Today’s training isn’t just a drill. We face realities that require us to be at our best, physically and mentally. Understood?

The SQUAD nods, the atmosphere thick with tension and adrenaline. They had heard the rumors, but also knew the history of the group.

EXT. TRAINING COURSES - CONTINUOUS

As the squad sets up for their exercises, Connel approaches. His confidence radiates, and a sly smile crosses his face.

CONNEL
(grinning, addressing Lt. Alazar)
So, “El Tee”, you ready to show these operators how to throw a lightsaber? Or should I stick to shooting blasters?

Bren narrows his eyes, irritation flaring but quickly tempering into determination. He respects Connel's skills but won’t show weakness.

LT. ALAZAR
(pointedly)
This isn’t a game, Jedi. You may have trained with Omega before, but this time, it’s different. You stand as part of the team, and I expect you to act like it. Your name may have a history with this Squad’s but those days are over.

The SQUAD members share glances, some smirking at Connel’s antics, while others look at their leader in awe. Connel shrugs off the intensity, his ego unshaken.

MONTAGE – TRAINING EXERCISES

A series of quick-cut scenes illustrating the various training exercises under Bren's watchful eye. Connel navigates courses gracefully, engaging in lightsaber battles with members of Omega Squad, dodging blaster fire, and using the Force to manipulate obstacles.

Bren leads tactical discussions, emphasizing teamwork and strategy, his voice sharp and commanding. We see him throw himself into training, showcasing his skills but pushing the squad harder with each task. He wasn’t going to put them in a situation he wouldn’t go into himself, which is why it was more and more difficult.

EXT. TRAINING GROUNDS – LATER

As the day progresses, Connel stands off to the side, watching the others. He witnesses a member of Omega Squad—BAXTER, a sharpshooter—struggling with a simulation. Connel's confident façade slips momentarily.

CONNEL
(encouragingly)
Hey, Specialist Baxter! You just need to adjust your stance a bit. Here, let me show you.

Baxter scowls at the interference but ultimately relents, allowing Connel to demonstrate. They work through the issue together, tension easing as they bond over shared tasks.

BAXTER
(with a reluctant smile)
Guess you’re not too bad for a Jedi. Thank you, Master Jedi.

INT. TRAINING FACILITY - SIMULATION ROOM - LATER

The team gathers in the simulation room. Automatic drones buzz around, firing simulated blasts. Bren stands at the front, tension crackling in the air. As blasts land at and around his feet, he does not move. No, he does not know where they will shoot, he just is not intimate anymore.

LT. ALAZAR
We’re running a rescue simulation. One of us is down behind enemy lines. The rest of us need to strategize our way through a heavily fortified position. You know what’s at stake.

Connel takes a deep breath, suddenly feeling the weight of responsibility. He falls into line with the squad as they begin strategizing, forming plans with Bren leading the discussion.

EXT. SIMULATION GROUND - DAY

The simulation begins, and chaos erupts. Blaster fire erupts from automated drones, and the team springs into action. Bren’s authoritative commands can be heard as they execute maneuvers, a dance of precision and instinct. Connel weaves through enemy targeting, using the Force to deflect blaster bolts onto targets.

In the midst of the chaos, a drone targets Bren, who yells in warning as it fires. Connel instinctively uses the Force, pushing Bren aside just in time, but the distraction slows him down, and he barely dodges another blast himself.

EXT. SIMULATION GROUND - AFTERMATH

The exercise ends in a chaotic finish, with the team regrouping. Bren breathes heavily, visibly angry at the reckless display of power. The others wait, anticipation thick in the air.

LT. ALAZAR
(seething)
That was sloppy! You could have explained yourself rather than cost the mission through sheer impulse!

Connel stands, breathless but unyielding.

CONNEL
I saw a chance to save you. Sometimes the best move isn’t following orders but trusting your instincts.

Bren’s jaw tightens, his frustration an undercurrent in the heat of the moment. He regards Connel for a long moment.

LT. ALAZAR
(grudgingly)
Instincts are good but know when to follow the chain of command. We fight together out there, not merely as individuals.

EXT. TRAINING GROUNDS - SUNSET

The day winds down as the sun sinks, casting golden hues across the training facility. Connel, having faced the heat of training, allows himself a moment of reflection. He watches Omega Squad reconvene, the camaraderie visible.

Bren approaches, his expression softening ever so slightly.

LT. ALAZAR
We’ll get better. Together. You have potential, Connel. Just channel it wisely, alright?

A tentative understanding emerges in their eye contact, two warriors standing on the line between order and chaos. Even though this was only training and the Jedi would not go out on missions with them, unless otherwise ordered, he understood.

CONNEL
(smirking again)
You know I wouldn’t dream of holding back.

They share a moment, two different worlds united in purpose as they turn to the sunset—partners in an endless battle against darkness.
