What is the "Shadow War"?
The Shadow War is the new Silver Jedi Concord internal story faction arc, meant to provide the entire faction with an immersive narrative which individual stories can then branch out from. It is in effect a continuation of the faction's story so far, starting with the immediate aftermath of the Concord-Bryn'adul war.
With Bryn'adul Empire as an existential threat removed, the surviving refugees of the worlds conquered by the Bryn'adul push to resettle their worlds. The Concord and many within the galactic community are keen on doing this, but what they find is lawless chaos. Not only do some of the Bryn'adul remain, but opportunistic groups have swept into many of these worlds. Crime syndicates and pirates prey upon nascent resettlement communities. Smugglers and other less than legal occupation have taken advantage of the chaos to overlook many laws, erase their records, and found now hideouts and bases. Some people turn to cults or other criminal enterprises to get their needs met. This large melting pot of chaos has formed a number of large malevolent groups that seek to continue the cycle for their own benefit, and unsurprisingly seek to resist the Silver Jedi and their allies from stabilizing the area and bringing back galactic civilization with them. even as they fight among each other to get the best cut. Intrigue and betrayal are the new norm.
But the Silver Jedi Concord can't simply bring down its full might down upon these criminal syndicates. Conflict between the NIO and GA is heating up, and the Silver Assembly is not keen to deploy massive amounts of starships and troops when the New Imperial Order has outright invaded and annexed Ringo Vinda right on the Silver Jedi Concord border.
Therefore, it has instead dispatched its Jedi: guardians, consulars, sentinels, and others all have a part to play setting the galaxy right. They will be backed in their endeavors by interested allies within the Concord itself, whether they are members of the Concord Guard, the Mandalorian Covenant, the Directorate, or any number of our subfactions or allies.
Where will the Shadow War take place?
Most of this campaign itself will take place around the Concord areas devastated by the Bryn'adul - the Concord's eastern and southern sectors. This is traditionally Hutt space and a few other areas of the Outer Rim. It is wild frontier country filled alike with hardscrabble folk and exotic but sparsely populated locales.
When will this launch?
This upcoming week we will start this campaign with meeting the Nimbus Alliance on Orleon. Descended from the ancient Cloud-Riders, members of this group frequently blend the line between criminal and freedom fighters. While the Concord and the Nimbus Alliance share a number of common concerns, the Alliance is not likely to reveal all of its secrets or operations to the Concord just yet.
This thread serves not only as a chance to get the campaign setting explained to people in-character from their newfound allies, but also will act as a chance for people to form character groups for future Shadow War campaigns. Depending on who is present for the campaign, and the choices made by the characters in this thread will start to direct the path for the rest of the campaign.
Why?
The Silver Jedi Concord has traditionally been very much a PVE (Player Versus Environment) faction, being a low key way to enjoy an RP experience without having to worry about drama from being super involved in the competitive map portion of the board. We are aiming to fulfill the classic immersive experience you'd get with playing D&D with your friends over the weekend and move at a relaxed pace, rather than pushing out posts on a tight schedule to one-up the other guy.
Who is this aimed for?
Anyone with an interest in the setting, including those not involved with the Concord itself. We have spoken to several writers of Sith and criminal characters, who are now in the campaign's planning. If this would interest you, please shoot this account a private message to learn more.
