It should have been a routine jump through hyperspace. Corbin could not count how many times he had made a jump as a pilot. He was not the pilot here aboard the Force-Tech mobile shipyards, but he was both the owner of the company and leader of a successful mission to repair a stranded battlecruiser. The shipyards, humorously nicknamed "4STECK," had just made the jump to hyperspace to get back to Susevfi, when the ship lurched to a stop, and all the power went out at once.

This was alarming in and of itself, though the backup reactors thankfully kicked in the auxiliary power. The ship was pretty much self-sustaining, so being stranded wasn't the biggest issue as long as there was power. The problem was that Corbin, the crew, and the passengers had absolutely no idea where they were. They were obviously not in realspace, but neither were they in hyperspace. The communications systems were not working at all, and they could work in either realspace or hyperspace. It did not feel quite the same as the nether either, at least not like the previous times Corbin had been, but he could not be too certain. All they knew was they were stranded in some kind of void of fluctuating black and purple light.

Any of the crew who had been asleep at the time would suddenly be awakened with nightmares and visions. But that was only the beginning of the horror, as screams began echoing throughout the gargantuan ship. Hundreds of strange creatures had appeared aboard the stranded factory; creatures unknown to most and known to a few as starweirds. The Jensaarai crew would do what they could to mobilize and protect the passengers, but it would be extremely difficult fighting incorporeal beings that were filling the shipyards will piercing telepathic screams.

And to make matters worse for Corbin, the voice that had been silent since his battle against Darth Empyrean -- the voice of some Force entity that called itself Mortis -- had suddenly returned, laughing louder than ever, buckling him to his knees. The voice merely kept repeating excitedly over and over in Corbin's mind: Soon! Very, very soon!
