Abilities
- Multi-tool - Using schematics stored on the the force tool can use its shield crystal and micro tractor device held in it to create a force field to mimic the shape of many tools. From common tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers or pliers; to advanced tools such as spanner, Hyperdrive attenuator, and the like.
- Scanning device - A corellian digital micro scanner contained within allows those tuned to the device to have an almost instant knowledge of the readings it takes. Due to size range is limited to 5 meters.
- Medical device - The Ankarres lens to produce a beam similar to that of a field generator. While not a medical cure all it allows the user to increase the effectiveness of their force healing abilities nearly two fold by channeling threw it.
- Scalpel and blade - When the Sapith lens is used the tool will produce anything from a fine bladed scalpel to use for surgical procedures to a lightsaber cutting blade roughly a third of a meter long.
- Cooling device - When the Baas Wisdom lens is activated a cooling beam is created. It can be tuned to act as a mild agent to help reduce swelling similar to a an ice pack, to an ice beam as strong as a fire extinguisher with a two meter range.
- Electro device - When the Bondar crystal is used the device produces anything between a controlled jolt of electricity for use as in a defibrillator to a massive shock similar to a stun baton. Sparks can also be focused into a beam to make an arch welder for mechanical repairs.
- Scomp and wireless link - Attached to the back of the device is a scomp link that would allow the user to tap into terminals that were set up for such a device. Along the side is a wireless link with similar abilities to that of a remote slicer. This ability is limited to 5 meters of the target.
Contained within the memory core are schematics for thousands of different tools. A medical library of common galactic species anatomy, physiological, and pathology. As well as basic slicing programs that can be run to open doors and basic combat system lock outs.
Strengths:
- Multi-tool - With abilities above.
- Jack of all trades, master of none - While the number of things this tool can do in impressive, there are many devices and artifacts that are better at each task. Better sabers, slicing tools, and healing Crystals.
- Very Small Battery - To pack so many lenses into the hilt something had to be sacrificed. With a battery much smaller that a saber of the same size it has an extremely short battery life in comparison. While a normal saber can work for up to hours at full capacity; this device can operate at it’s lowest setting for up to 20 minutes or at a max setting for 5 to 7 seconds. Relies on user to supply power through recognition ring to be practical.
- Must have abilities to use - From the personally cut and attuned crystals to ability to power the device a person must have at least a padawan level of skill in to use it in that setting. With no force skill this is just a spanner with 20 minutes of battery life.
- Impractical cost - With all the micro circuitry and exotic materials the cost of this device far outweighs the practical use. One could buy four or five devices that to the same thing this one can do for 1 to 2 % the cost. This was more a labor of love than an attempt to build a marketable product.
- Doesn’t swim - While water resistant it is far from water proof. An example would be it can be used in the rain with no issues however it does not work underwater and if submerged in more than 3 meters of water it will get waterlogged and need to be disassembled, dried and re-assembled before it works again.
- Dial issues - Ice or grit can build up on the exterior dials making them jam and hindering the effectiveness of the device. This would be common on planets like Hoth (ice) or Tatooine (sand)
- Loses attunement - Balance and proximity to the one who it is attuned to is vital to his device. Should it ever leave its’ owner's possession for more than a few days it will fall out of balance and the owner will need to re-balance it or it will not as expected.
- Very tight tolerances - Repetitive strikes like it would receive from being used in saber combat or dropped multiple times will cause it to become locked into one mode and it will need to be disassemble and reassembled to work correctly again.
- Common hilt construction - Hilt is only made of titanium infused durasteel and can be easily damaged by a lightsaber or blaster attack.
- Not a proper light saber - This device was never intended to be used full time weapon, while it does have a saber blade it is only one third the length and half the width. When used as a saber it is not able to block other saber strikes or deflecting ranged attacks as well as a normal saber could.
While exploring his new holding on Exocron he found unique hidden library temple of sorts. A treasure trove really, it was here in fact he found stories about a strange Doctor who's name was never mentioned and an amazing device he used. Though no information on its construction was ever recorded, it had the ability it seeming to do just about anything and this inspired Bryce to see if he could replicate it with tech and known materials he had access to. This curiosity drove him to far off planets, seeking parts, information and the needed materials he would need to created it. Then with techniques usually reserved for light saber assembly, he painstakingly over months of trial and error created the force tool described today.
“Alaunus” is a unique force focusing multi-tool named after some Kathol Region goddess of wisdom Bryce came across in his studies. The casing of “Alanus” is a common durasteel shoto lightsaber hilt with as many small focusing crystals and micro gizmos Bryce could cram in. Once assembled Bryce soon realized the device had some major drawbacks, most notably it had a very short battery life and for the most part as he had build it, only he could use it.
While the latter was by design the limited battery life was a huge problem. I mean no matter how good a tool is how useful is it if it only lasts at most 20 minutes. The solution came to Bryce one night when he was working late. Frustration over a string of failures gripped him till his darker impulses began to flare. In a fit of rage he expelled his darker feeling out into a wall using force lightning… That was it, HE could power “Alaunus”. With a few quick modification to the User recognition ring and capacitor he was ready to test his idea. Summoning the power of the force to his hand he transferred some of it into the device and the rest is now history.
Bryce, trying to work on his pacifism now carries “Alaunus” wherever he goes. Using it in both battle and research in place of his light saber as he tries to better live his beliefs.
