An upgrade to the now aged Mandalorian Viper Interceptor, the Viper MKII, nicknamed the “Kodashi,” is fitted with a better hyperdrive, new PC-3 Uur particle cannons, and room for a compact astromech. The fighter retains the unique maneuverability and high speed that the original model possessed, allowing it to often times out maneuver and out pace many its opponents. The fighters reverse engines also allow it to quickly break, which can be used to surprise pursuers.
The fighter armament has been bolstered with the addition of Uur particle cannons, and a Strill universal launch tube. The more powerful Uur cannons, while slow firing, give the interceptor a more potent punch per shot, and the Strill launch tube allows the small craft to carry a greater variety of munitions into battle.
The greatest upgrade to most though is the addition of an astromech slot. This upgrade was what the V-2 “Micromech” was originally designed for. Engineers couldn’t find room on the small fighter to place a full sized astromech slot, so instead of doing without, the new droid ad slot size were designed in tandem. This gives the Viper MKII some of the advantages of an onboard droid, including hyperspace calculations and inflight repairs. While these are more limited do to size, it is still a bonus most pilots would kill to have.
