- Formation and Size: The 3rd has been one of the first formed Assault-CF Combat Groups and the first Assault-CF Armor Combat Group. Its symbol is the image above depicting its namesake - the face of Wilhuff Tarkin, a legendary imperial. The combat group is comprised predominantly from veteran stormtroopers, mainly deserter Legionnaires from the Sith Empire, who have specialized in combined arms maneuver warfare, the outliers of the combat group are recruits from SAGroup. The 3rd is also one of the largest in size Combat Groups equaling a size of a typical division at this point of time.
- Warfare: Experienced in waging blitzkrieg, the 3rd is usually the spearhead of assault operations capable of breaking concentrated hostile forces and encircling large swaths of enemy positions.
- The First: What stands out as distinctive element of the "Wilhuff Tarkin" is the 1st Special Operations Detachment, commonly known as "The First", with a classified size (rumored between 200-300) which are personally led by Lt. - Zeal: Completely loyal members motivated primarily by conscious adherence to the tenets of the New Order.
- CompForce Training Methods: Assault's training methods instilled a strong sense of unit cohesion within its troops, alongside a willingness to fight on despite heavy casualties.
- The First: The 1st Special Operations Detachment is renown for its elite capabilities.
- Expendable Zeal: With the number of recruits poured out from SAGroup, commanders are not as reluctant to attempt suicidal missions with high chances of failure thus decimating the combat group.
- Internal Conflict: As zealous members of COMPNOR, the 3rd often gets into conflict with Stormtrooper Units which may lead to tactical and strategic miscommunication and disparity.
The 3rd Assault-CF Armor Combat Group was officially formed after the victory at Muunilinst from the most zealous of the 12th Armored Assault Army who acted as the tip of the spear in the piercing of Sith-Imperial entrenched lines of Harnaidan. As COMPNOR's influence grew so did the 3rd's. With the rise of insurgent factions within newly establish Imperial worlds and the necessity of behind-the-lines operations against the Sith, Lt. Col. Jaeger Harrsk recruited former associates of his from the One Sith Intelligence to form the core of officers of the 1st Special Operations Detachment known as "The First".
