Type:
This unit is considered "Armored Infantry" or "Mechanized Infantry" by Insurgent standards. However, unlike a professional Armored Infantry Battalion, the most heavy armored vehicles this unit has available are civilian vehicles that have been refurbished for military use (often referred to as Technicals)
Strength:
The term "Battalion" was given to the 3rd as an attempt by the EFF to mask how little in number they were at the beginning of their struggle. In reality, the 3rd Battalion numbers only 220 men, 40 of which are reserved for the 13 technicals in the battalion; leaving 180 infantry men.
Description:
Made up of the best Guerrilla fighters the EFF could provide, the 3rd Free Ession Battalion excels in hit and run attacks, ambushes and wilderness warfare. When this fighting force is able to hit the enemy hard and fast, they can do massive damage and exit the area without taking a casualty. They can also hold their own in the wilderness in one on one combat, but they fall short if they are forced to fight in an urban setting for anything more than a hit and run attack. It is also important to note that the unit is working mostly old-tech, spare for the technicals which use open market civilian vehicles modified with armor and open market weapons collected during the fight with the Ession government prior to FFS intervention.
