- Affiliation: Galactic Alliance
- 76th Pathfinder Regiment, 1st Regimental Reconnaissance Company
- Classification: Special Reconnaissance/Direct Action/Infiltration Troops
- Description:
- The Silver Ghosts are the newest platoon inside the 76th Pathfinders' Regimental Reconnaissance Company. Selected from the regiment's most capable—yet least regulation‑minded—scouts, they have been forged by Lieutenant Jaena Taan's Echani discipline into a swift, silent spear‑tip. Combining modern GA deep‑recon doctrine with Urban Guerilla cell tactics and Echani close‑quarters combat, 3rd Troop is designed to pave the way for Alliance forces and surgically dismantle high‑value threats behind enemy lines.
- Unit Size: Medium (40)
- Unit Availability: Unique
- Unit Experience: Elite
- Equipment:
- GASU-25 Panther Scout Uniforn
- GABB-15 Talon II Blaster Carbine
- AT-NB5 Blaster Pistol
- GARD-15 Raven II Recon Droid
- Null Grenades
- EMP Grenades
- GASG Roar Grenades
- Wolverine Tac Tool
- Combat Function:
- Organized in four ten‑person squads, the Ghosts infiltrate hostile territory, capture or relay live intelligence, designate targets for precision strikes, and, when stealth fails, launch rapid close‑quarters assaults to neutralize or sabotage critical objectives. Their doctrine emphasizes initiative, tempo, and minimal signatures.
- Force Abilities (Force User Units Only): N/A
- Up Close and Personal: Commanded and trained by a skilled Echani martial artist - one who's deeply studied the greatest warrior cultures in the galaxy - 3rd Troop is deadly in close-quarters, using all the tools available to them to disarm and neutralize even heavily armored opponents.
- Celer, Silens, Mortalis: 3rd Troop rigorous training, advanced equipment, and specialized tactics make them an exceptionally skilled force at operating in the hostile environment of the enemy's rear and carrying out a myriad of missions for the strategic interest of the GADF, making them Quick, Quiet, and Deadly.
- Of Their Own Accord: Perhaps the most important strength of 3rd Troop - and indeed of her sister platoons in the RRC - is its independence. Trained to operate on their own initiative, Jaena and her squad and section leaders are entrusted to identify the enemy's weak points and choose their own routes, targets, moments, and methods of attack.
- Boots on the Ground: Deadly and skilled as they are, the RRCs are Light Infantry Scouts. They are not well suited for fighting massive formations, making frontal assaults on entrenched positions, or taking on mounted mechanized units. A pair of AT-STs out in the open could make quick work of the Silver Ghosts
- The Few, the Proud: A platoon sized unit with a brutal training regimen, extended campaign lengths, and little hope of CASEVAC or being rotated out, every single casualty the Ghosts incur matters - and any mission with heavy losses could quickly degrade combat readiness, cohesion, and effectiveness
Born out of a memo from the 1st Regimental Reconnaissance Company, 76th Pathfinders, in late 900 ABY, the Silver Ghosts were conceived to fill the role of a long‑range reconnaissance troop capable of acting independently. Regimental planners wanted a platoon that could infiltrate deeper, decide faster, and fight dirtier than the average Pathfinder squad—yet still vanish before an enemy counter‑punch could land. Lieutenant Jaena Taan, a newly minted officer whose Echani pedigree and instructional tour had earned her a reputation for forging hardened killers out of seat‑of‑the‑pants scouts, was handed ninety‑two volunteers and told to "make ghosts."
The first culling, later dubbed the Ghost Gauntlet, dropped candidates into the jungles of Endor with nothing but a beacon and a time limit; twenty‑one days later only forty remained, each having evaded veteran trackers while completing a string of silent surveillance tasks. Those survivors plunged straight into an Urban Guerilla Heritage Course, where the forgotten cell tactics of the legendary SpecForce Guerillas were revived and fused with modern Alliance deep‑recon SOPs. The capstone was Echani Blade Week—seven nights of brutal CQC sparring in which recruits learned to read intent from a heartbeat's twitch and to transition seamlessly from knife to blaster inside arm's reach.
A regimental war‑game followed. Pitted against seasoned Pathfinder companies, the fledgling Ghosts routinely slipped through perimeter screens, "eliminated" command posts, and exfiltrated before sunrise, proving the concept sound. Satisfied, Galactic Alliance Defense Force command placed them on constant alert, ready to silently materialize and serve as the hidden dagger sliding into the gaps of the enemy's armor.
