Feedback 400 Post Feedback on Caelan

[Caelan Valoren]

I haven't posted one of these yet. Primarily because I've been too busy, but also because I've tended to be a little scared to do it. Still, I'd like people's opinions and critiques on Caelan as a character. What do you like about him? What do you hate about him? What do I need to work on as his writer?

I'm nearing the point where he will become a Jedi Knight, so I'd love feedback on him before I get to that point.

He's a nerd but he's cool!

In all seriousness, a big plus and something I enjoy is that you're really going for lore-building on his homeworld. Corazona von Ascania did the same for Ukatis and it made the planet feel alive whenever we did stories on it. You've also got Caelan tied into it nicely and he's settling in with his fellow Jedi too!

The only "critique/feedback" I have is that you seem to really want for him to have a partner/Queen at some point. Which I understand because that RP can be really fun. But don't stress over it too much, is more so the message I have. It's better to wait and work towards a really good and fitting story, than rush into it.

I've enjoyed writing with Caelan. He's an extremely driven character with a rough past, and both aspects play out very well in your writing. He interacts well with the Jedi around him, and the tragedy of seeing what became of his parents was beautifully written.

Echoing what Vera said, your lore for Lazerian IV has been fun to read and interact with – would love to see more of that in future threads! What I'm looking forward to is seeing how Caelan balances being a ruler and a Jedi, which are two aspects that can contradict themselves at times. Maybe a fun narrative struggle to work with?

Overall – really nice job, eager to see where he goes!

I can really only echo what others have said. I think Caelan is shaping up to be an interesting character. He’s inspired me to write some stories of nobility because I have had fun reading his threads.

I like the faction you put together to build lore for your world too. Overall it seems like a great plot device for future threads.

Maybe we could see his lighter side in some threads? He’s very stoic so it would be interesting to see how he cuts loose.
