Description:

A relative of the 7.5cm Elektromagnetische Beschleunigung Kanone series, the 5cm Elektromagnetische Beschleunigung Kanone was designed for use by lighter tanks in the Eisenwelten Kampfpanzer Korps. The weapon functions just like its larger cousin by firing electromagnetically accelerated projectiles downrange at enemy targets. The weapon has variable ammunition available for use and is fairly accurate for its class. The 5cm EBK L48 is generally considered ineffective against heavy armor and is primarily used against infantry and light tanks, though it can engage medium tanks with some success. When used against heavy armor, the cannon is nearly useless for anything short of damaging or destroying the tracks on those vehicles that possess them or for damaging or destroying externally mounted equipment on the heavy vehicles it faces.

As with its cousin, the 7.5cm, the 5cm EBK does see susceptibility against ion and EMP weapons. Also, shots fired from this weapon rely on the gunner's accuracy, meaning the weapon is only as useful as the crew within the tank using it.
