- Description: The 908th Legion is one of the oldest stormtrooper legions in the New Imperial Order, playing a prominent role in the emergence of the Order following the Third Imperial Civil War. The 908th is well-known as one of the most experienced legions in the Order, with its military doctrine and strategies held in high esteem among the Stormtrooper Corps. Well-disciplined and loyal to a fault, the 908th is a proud and ruthlessly efficient fighting force. Nonetheless, the soldiers of the Reborn are not discouraged from having casual banter, and deep friendships are often formed among squad members or groups of commissioned officers.

- A Pheonix Reborn: Fully restored to its pre-Borosk numbers, the 908th has triumphed over its past and its soldiers march boldly towards the future. Embracing its over seven hundred years of heritage, the 908th has a rich culture of camaraderie and brotherhood that encourages every soldier to fight to the death so that their comrades may live. Its many revitalized thousands are no longer “The Broken”, instead proudly calling themselves “The Reborn”.
- Tip Of The Spear: The 908th is a formidable legion within an already formidable Stormtrooper Corps, many of its soldiers having a decade or more of fighting experience behind them. Combined with a competent and disciplined officer corps and the wise leadership of FN-999, there are few infantry armies of comparable size that can outsmart or overpower the white mass of the Reborn.
- Jack Of All Trades: The Reborn are highly efficient and flexible generalists, their privates and majors alike well-trained and experienced in numerous forms of offensive, defensive, and siege warfare.
- Big Stick: With the addition of its own artillery regiment and armor battalions, the 908th has largely rid itself of its reliability on allied armor and is capable of holding its own against smaller hostile armored units.
- Oil Junkies: As the 908th has grown and become increasingly mechanized, its supply needs have also grown, especially where fuel is concerned. With an energy demand similar to that of a large town, the 908th is extremely vulnerable if cut off from its supply lines.
- Not Hard Enough: Despite its mechanization and growth, the 908th is still composed of almost 80% infantry. Consequently, large formations of medium and heavy armored vehicles can effectively counter the soldiers of the Reborn with minimal losses.
- Help Me TIE-Senpai!: The 908th faces an equally brutal matchup against ground attack aircraft and spacecraft, with no major anti-air defenses to speak of. When faced with combined arms tactics, the 908th depends almost completely on the New Imperial Starfighter Corps to protect their airspace.
A company of the 908th's finest.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
In all, the history of the 908th Legion goes back seven centuries.
The first 908th Legion on record was a stormtrooper legion of the Sith Empire in the 2nd century ABY, defecting to the Empire-In-Exile during the Second Imperial Civil War. Soon after its defection, the 908th was besieged by Sith loyalist forces, fighting a dogged defense that saw them killed to the last man.
The New Imperial Order did not forget this history, the determination and sacrifice of the 908th. As it emerged within the context of the Third Imperial Civil War, the NIO saw many parallels between its struggle against the Sith Empire of its time and the struggle between the Exiles and Sith of the past. Seeking to draw on a legacy of defiance and rebellion, New Imperial leadership revived the 908th as one of its first stormtrooper legions.
Initially, the 908th was primarily an instrument of propaganda, a proud piece of history that served to motivate inexperienced troops to willingly fight their hardest. However, as the New Imperial Order matured, so did the legion. Its green ranks were soon decorated with medals of all kinds, their campaigns taking them from Bastion to Csilla to Mygeeto. The 908th built a reputation for its siege experts, often leading the charge during intense urban battles. As its assignments increased, the 908th chose to prioritize strategic flexibility over its siege specialization; however, the addition of artillery to the 908th continued to improve its siege capabilities. The ever-growing 908th became well respected for its battlefield effectiveness and high concentration of seasoned veterans, barely a rung below the 501st in the hierarchy of legions.
As the 908th continued to grow, a newly recruited captain quickly made his presence known. FN-999, a veteran of over two decades of combat as a First Order stormtrooper, overcame a brief initial wave of stigma to become friendly and popular with many of his comrades, ensuring that his later promotions would be well-received. An even more critical factor in FN-999’s reputation was his combat record, as his extensive knowledge of warfare and passion for military theory made him among the most effective leaders in the 908th. A series of promotions rapidly followed until FN-999 was a lieutenant colonel, the highest-ranking officer in the legion after Emperor Fel ceased to directly command it. Skilled and well-respected, FN-999 restored a vision of unity and brotherhood for the scattered divisions of the 908th, who for the first time began to call themselves the “Reborn”.
During 874 ABY, two critical developments occurred within the 908th.
First, the 908th was given a new commander. For years after Emperor Fel ceased to have direct command over the legion, the position of legion commander was left vacant, the 908th’s diminished numbers divided up into battalions, shared and supervised by numerous other New Imperial legions while the vacancy remained. However, by 874, the top generals of the Imperial Army had made up their minds. FN-999, already de facto commander of the 908th as its highest-ranked leading officer, was promoted to colonel, cementing his reputation as the leading authority of the 908th.
Secondly, the 908th was able to achieve 100% operational strength for the first time in its history. Thanks in large part to the lobbying of FN-999 and other officers, an artillery regiment was added to the legion, giving it the manpower and flexibility it needed to be on equal numerical footing with other established legions. With no reason to continue to keep itself divided, the 908th established a central command on Borosk, proudly setting camp on the world where their predecessors held their last stand seven centuries earlier.
