Worst Jedi
Hi Guys,
I’m going to ask that you all indulge me for a moment as I tell you the story of a young hopeful Jedi writer who joined Chaos, and through trial and struggle rose to the heady heights of the greatest Jedi Empire to ever exist on the site!
Well, ok, so maybe we’re not a Jedi Empire, yet, but I don’t think there is any denying that what we are is an amazing community of writers and the a truly amazing faction. I’ve been lucky to see the faction grow and develop, from the small worried faction we were in the aftermath of the move to Kashyyyk, a little unsure and trying to re-establish ourselves. The Order of Silver Jedi has Risen Like a Phoenix, something that nobody on the site thought was possible. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you that they thought we were done, that we’d fade away into the annals of history. They all forgot one thing. You.
I saw a community come together and pitch in to tell some amazing stories, and more importantly to rebuild and ask ourselves what it was to be a Jedi, and how we wanted to show it. It’s a question that has plagued the board for some time, what it is to be a Jedi, and there’s no right answer for it. Everyone has their own interpretation, their own way of seeing it, and not everyone always agrees but I’m proud of the Jedi that we’ve become. The Jedi who are always willing to go out, to defend the innocent and our fellow Jedi. In every conflict on the board, every time the Jedi have been called on the Silvers have responded. And I couldn’t be more proud of how we’ve come together as a faction.
Some of you know where I’m going, some of you will have guessed.
I’m stepping down as Faction Owner of the Silver Jedi.
I can’t begin to express how proud I am of all of you, how amazed I am at the way we’ve grown and developed together. When I first became the Faction Owner of the Silver Jedi, it was a time of instability. You wouldn’t believe how many people came upto me and told me that this was going to be the death knell of the faction, that we were doomed. Some friends, some people I’d never met before, everyone had their opinions. Guess what? We’re still here, and we’re stronger and better than they’d ever have believed. And that’s because of all of you. Each word you wrote, each story you told, ever moment of character drama and heartache, I read them all, I loved them all. You all took my dreams for the Silver Jedi, and you made them real. It was a gift that I can never repay, every idea I thought of, every thread that we put together you were there. You were always there, through every stumble and triumph.
I’ve said it many times, the Faction Owner, the Faction Staff, none of us are important, we’re just caretakers, watching the Faction for the writers. I could come up with the coolest idea in the world, but if the faction writers don’t like it, it’d be dead in the water. And not once have you ever failed to be there. Sure, some ideas fly, and some ideas were less successful, but we tried everything. We reached, and now, there is no-one who can deny that the Order of Silver Jedi is the primary Jedi faction on the board, we’ve earned that title time and time again. Through teaching Padwans, exploring ruins, helping refugees and acting as a shield against the Sith, no matter where they are.
Being the Faction Owner of the SJO wasn’t something I’d ever thought was possible, if we look back at the history of the order, all the way back to the Heavenshields we can see the good and great of Chaos, names that everyone knew, everyone still knows. And here, in this little corner, a Jedi Padawan who barely anyone knew. But we did something special. We got involved, we showed the people that the Silver Jedi Order is a beacon of light in the galaxy, that no matter how dark it gets we’ll always burn brightly.
It has been my honour, my greatest honour to by your faction owner and to have lead the Silver Jedi. I can’t really say anything else but thank you! Each and every member of the order and all our friends. Thank you for being there with me on this journey, for writing with me, for making this year, this amazing an difficult year of ups and downs so special. I don’t have the words to describe how much it meant to me to have this faction rally around like this. I only hope that the next faction owner feels like I do, feels the love I’ve felt from this amazing community of writers.
So, what happens now? Well, I’ll be putting up a thread up in the forums for you to nominate a new faction owner. And then we’ll have a vote. I’m not going anywhere, Asaraa will still be around on Kashyyyk, getting into all kinds of trouble and giving everyone grey hairs. And I’m looking forward to the future, to seeing what kind of trouble we all manage to get into together, and what adventures the future holds.
I’ve been thinking all this time which gif I should use to wrap up this speech, and thank you anyone who managed to get all the way through it. I really wanted to use Jon Snow saying that his watch is over and walking out of castle black, but that isn’t really how I feel.
But I’ve accomplished everything I could have dreamed, and it’s time for new blood and fresh ideas to lead the SJO into this new chapter in it's life.
I love you all, thank you for being the single greatest faction I could have ever asked to lead.
I had to sneak this in somehow, I mean come on it’s me.
