A chip off the ol' block

I went over the files that were placed before me. Things I had to sign to allow a student to get advanced training in Telekinesis, or a student trained in lightsaber combat. Hell, I even had files cross my desk about wanting to train with me. I had been working on the past few hours over this paperwork. Signing things off. and denying others until I saw the person improve. I had gotten alot of it done. Most of the files left were just sitting there as I stared at them. Contemplating if I should even touch them. My son Zeph had told me that dinner had been served earlier. And now that I looked at the time, it was late. Almost time for bed.

Maya had come in and even given me a goodnight kiss before heading off to bed. I wasn't tired though. I shook my head and stood up. I was about to walk out when I forgot my lightsaber on the desk. Reaching over my shoulder, I pulled with the force, and it slid into my hand through the air as the door opened with a hiss. I walked out and shut the door behind me. Placing my lightsaber on my belt, I then made my way down stairs. Moving ever so slowly to reach the main living room. I looked around and then smiled.

"Vax, you need to do better in your force concealment. I can still feel you."

He was always quite and would almost disappear out of a room as much as he could suddenly appear in one. He was very good at being a Silver Shadow. I recommended he take that position since I had known what that job was like. However, he didn't know that I too, had been one in my past. I smiled even brighter at that thought.

Some times he was amazed at my skills to detect him. It seemed like it was only myself and Maya who could ever find him when he was trying so hard to hide. Well, thats because one, we were his parents, We knew where he would hide, and two, we were both Jedi Shadows at some point. It was quite funny. Maya and myself didn't even know of each other being shadows until we had been married and told the truth to each other.

However, now, at the ripe old age, I wasn't in it for sneaking around any more. Freyia was taking very much after Maya. Healing, and being a little bit like a Battle Medic, while my son Zeph was leading the charge with his leader ship skills and his lightsaber prowess. Vax though? he took from both of us our skills of stealth. And that made a very skilled child. Even when he was younger, he was still showing signs of able to fade in and out of a room. I remember when he was a child. So young and yet talent was being shown at every corner. However, after my little exile in the cave, he had grown up. I had missed his childhood. I had missed the most important part of his life.

And that was my fault. I needed to do better. I needed to make it up to him. I stopped walking before entering the kitchen, and turned to my son. Carrying alot of the genetic code from my Arkanian Sephi bloodline, his ears always made me smile.

"Do you mind if I ask you a question?"

Vax'ildan

Dagger, Dagger, Dagger.
Vax'ildan was hiding in the living room. It may be strange to others, but whenever he had free time around the house, he would find places in the house and hide in them, practicing staying stock still in the shadows and watching, listening to everything in the home. It was routine for him to hide his presence of the force, but no matter what, his father and mother could always find him. Maybe they just knew him too well.

He came down from his hiding place, a corner in the wall next to the ceiling. He wasn't using any foothold, just hanging there by applying pressure correctly to stay up. At his father's words, he dropped down onto the floor, pulling his hood back. His hair was in the normal ponytail that it almost always was in.

"No, you just need to stop being so damn clairvoyant. Along with mom. I don't understand how you can always find me." He shook his head in wonder, looking at the ground. Looking back up, he watched as [member="Xander Carrick"] walked almost to the kitchen, then asked him a question. "Well, you just did. Are you asking to ask two questions?" He chuckled, before continuing. "Yeah. What's up?"

I smiled as Vax decided to come up with some kind of dad joke. Saying I already did. After a second, he said I could. I shook my head with a smirk. Seeing him and how he was becoming a young man. I wanted to give him something, and also teach him while spending time with him before we could be separated by war, or by death. Coming to stand in front of him, I pressed a hand on his shoulder.

"You still have your training saber right?"

I then smiled, already knowing the answer. He did. Our family was based around protecting ourselves. Every person in our Carrick family was well versed in some form of fighting. Zeph was in swordplay and lightsaber combat. Vax was adept with a lightsaber, very good at using his stealth to compliment his fighting style, and Freyia was all about force powers. Indicating for him to follow me, I walked away from the kitchen and towards the shop that I had set up when we first made our home here. Opening the door, I walked in, letting my son follow.

Vax'ildan

Dagger, Dagger, Dagger.
Vax smirked. "Of course I do." Without another word, his father turned and made his way to the workshop. Vax followed, wondering what his father had in store for him inside. Could it be a new saber? Or maybe something new altogether?
