A Cold Wind Bloweth [Silver Sanctum]

Ice covered and uninhabitable is Rhen Var, or so they say. Yet it is one of the most sacred places to the Jedi, for here crystals can be found in the caves which, to any worthy Jedi, will call and connect to them. Not just any crystal, but one that will form a part of a lightsaber, the tool or weapon of a Jedi. But it is no easy task to enter the caves and simply pick one up .. no .. there are tests for those that enter and seek, they may find more than a crystal, they might find themselves. They may find out what they are lacking in themselves or they might find inner strength. Only the individual who walks through the mouth of the cave will be able to answer that, if they are courageous enough to face it.

A small fleet of Silver Sanctum ships arrived on this icy planet, ever the same, but ever changing is the environment. The ramps had lowered to allow them to depart into the snow storm, and set before them, the cave entrance. Coci stood waiting for everyone to arrive, dressed in her Jedi robes over which she pulled tight the álk fur of Midvinter. She will have to get a new fur soon as she is wearing this one thin. Pink cold bitten hands pulled up her hood around her head, she placed them cupped to her mouth and blew her hot breath on them for what little warmth she could, before rubbing them together, that never works so into her pockets they go.

Her black eyes looked over the mountain, she squints to cut out the glare of the light, but there is something strange in the air, a strange feeling of something familiar yet to distant to be grasped. She pays it no heed for now, but instead turns to see what is keeping the others.

The chance for adventure and to finally construct her blade, how could you pass that up and with the new anklet this world was amazing. You could go outside and not freeze to death from the temple while Serana ran across the ivy fields to meet the other ships. Her mane bouncing and wings tucked in close while the force energy from the circlet made a glove of warmth along her skin she didn't notice the cold. This must be what humans felt when they wore those black bodygloves for handling differing temperatures. That they could move and do near anything as she tucked her wings in close over the satchels on her back.

The clanking of the supplies in the satchels was a steady beat while the polished and calming crystal met with the phrik casing. SHe had spent more time thinking about the idea of this and how she was going to wield such a weapon over how to just make one. The obvious answer, telekinesis while her horn glowed a little in the air brightening her pathway forward until there was the ship and she could feel the humans while moving forward and finding her place there with a small bobbing of her head and flexing the wings to make sure they didn't get disrupted or harmed by the cold. The glove of warmth was still there and checking her leg tapping the snow with a hoof.

As George made his way off the ship the blistering cold hit him like a train. Fortunately that feeling didn't stay too long. He had change into a different variant of his robes, these slightly thicker and considerably warmer than the set he wore out most places. But for a planet like this, warmth is everything and the big Nautolan, although enjoyed the water, the ice was a different story, even too cold for him. Thus his robes. As he left one of the ships that had travelled to the icey planet he had hoped his Padawan [member="Juniper Madeera"] had managed to get himself on one of the transports as he had not yet seen him either on board or on the surface. Either way, the trip would be a good one, plenty of Padawans and lots of Masters and Knights were here to search, protect and help everyone find what they were after.

George was more on the protecting side of things today. He felt he was good with what he had equipment wise, but of course bettering his force skills and his lightsaber skills was always something that ran through George's mind. As he took his first few steps in the snow his feet sunk into it. Like a brick through water. But just a few meters away he could see his own Master, Master Coci . "A bit fresh isn't it Master. You look a bit cold." He said with a chuckle as he rubbed his arms, keeping both his hands and arms warm beneath the robe. Walking towards Coci she had her normal fur coat. But by now it was looking well used. George wasn't sure how much longer the fur would keep her warm for. "That coat has gotten quite the work out the past few months. Midvinter and here... Hope its still doing the trick." George said creating some conversation. But non the less, she was capable of looking after herself and George merely enjoyed talking with his Master. No matter how small or silly it was.

Rhen Var.

A sacred place, to be counted among the lost histories of the Jedi alongside Deneba, Ossus, or Tython. A journey here was a spiritual undertaking, a heavy yoke to be shouldered with the most serious mind. A single stride carried along steps of faith, the road traveled by all the Jedi before you, was a walk for only those with the most devoted of purpose.

"WA-HOO!"

Well, no one ever said that the Jedi had high standards.

The green blur shot from out of the Coalition ship. The small Nautolan never touching the loading ramp, instead vaulting clear of it. Boots crunched down into the snow, as the boy planted the landing before leaping up again. Somersaulting forward, the youngling flipped forward. Spinning around with the next landing, he backflipped through the air -- then cartwheeled as he dropped back to the ground.

The normally minimally dressed aquatic boy was completely swallowed by the coat and gloves he wore. The fur-lined layers adding enough bulk that there might as well have been two of him in the clothes. Even still, that didn't appear to put any damper on the nine year old's spirits. Coming out of cartwheel, the boy line danced through the snow to music that existed, like much of the world as he saw it, in his own imagination.

"To the left, to the left..." the boy chimed, before stopping as he undulated his arms in a pop-and-lock motion, which transitioned into the droid before the child had spun around. Clapping his hands, the boy crouched down as he did a series of dance motions in rapid succession.

Complaining about the cold? Zak had already broken a sweat and was quite warm. He didn't understand what the adults were complaining about.

Well, they were adults. And adults tended to complain a lot.

Usually about whatever Zak was doing and why he shouldn't have been doing it.

Now, back to the actual topic of this thread, people were probably asking themselves 'why is he here?'

Good question, because Zak already had a lightsaber.

Well, he'd had a lightsaber, so that much wasn't new. But it hadn't been his, it had been Master Neffy's. But after the mission on Tatooine, and with help from Masters [member="Matsu Ike"] and [member="Draco Vereen"] the boy had recently completed work on the curved handled weapon that was currently concealed within the swaddling girth of the winter coat that the child wore. At the heart of which was a krayt dragon pearl. But the heart of the lightsaber was different for each Jedi, and so Zak had come along to help keep the younger younglings entertained as they waited to see if one of the crystals here would 'speak' to one of them.

And also help keep the kids safe.

Zak had already had an opportunity to teach Theo Heavenshield the basics of Tapas as part of swimming lessons in the glacial fed rivers on Voss. It was a Force power that the nine year old was surprisingly adept with, being that the aquatic used it frequently when swimming beneath the thermocline in ocean waters -- such as on Mon Cal. But the weather on Rhen Var could present real and present dangers of hypothermia and frostbite. So having a padawan with Zak's skill set; Tapas and Force Heal, made him an ideal teacher's helper to bring along for a venture into snow drifts and frozen caves.

And if some heavy poodoo went down, like they happened upon a hungry wompa, Zak could herd the kids while the knights and masters handled the snow monsters.

As for handling the snow... Zak had smuggled a snowboard aboard the ship and was fully intending to find a way to use it when the masters weren't looking.

You didn't get the title of Padawan Menace by playing the good kid all the time after all.

Another icy world.. Coryn was beginning to think that the other Silver's had a thing for cold worlds. First, it was Midvinter and it wasn't too terrible until the undead started attacking the silver sanctum coalition and their Valkyri allies. That had pretty much ruined his experiences on any icy world that he would come in contact with, this one included.

He was inexperienced when he had undertaken the mission on Midvinter, but it was his first time as a member of the SSC, and he was determined then not to let them down. The desire to justify their faith in him, as made evident by their decision to allow him to join them, had not faltered any since that mission; if anything, he felt a greater drive to justify their faith. That wasn't why he was on this planet though, no. He had heard that the Master [member=Coci Heavenshield] was hosting a crystal mission to Rhen Var, and while he was not yet ready to build his own lightsaber, it would not do any harm to gather the materials ahead of time. Perhaps, one day he would be ready to build it, until then he would set about collecting the necessary materials.

This included crystals.

The moment he stepped off the ship, the cold hit him in a rush of wintry vengeance, taking his breath away despite the preparation he had taken to dress warmly. One could never get used to the biting nature of cold climates, at least not those that weren't born to them anyway. He was not born to the cold. He was born to the wilds, mild temperatures and dangerous beasts, but still nothing that amounted to the danger that the cold on this planet would present if one had not been adequately prepared.

It only took a few moments, but he soon became adjusted to the cold itself and allowed the Force to influence his own body temperatures. He was not the most knowledgeable in terms of the more grandiose of the force abilities, but he could manage the basics. Practice made perfect, after all, no one in the galaxy ever got as good as they were without a little training or practice. It just wasn't possible, and Coryn was not an exception to that fact.

Snug withing the coat his Buir had giving him when he first arrived at the Tal'verda village, Gundark leather lined in wompa fur, Ryker stepped off of the loading ramp and swore he was going to freeze solid anyway. They had snow on his homeworld....But these temperatures were I Sane, And Ryker gave true thought to turning around and getting back onto the ship......That is until he saw Zak dancing around and having fun.

The sight of the Nautolan having so much fun energized the Togruta, And with all this snow around there was only one logical option.....Snowball war. Leaning down Ryker pulled a fair amount of the flaky white snow into his gloved hands and quickly balled it up before playfully hurling it at [member="Zak Dymo"] 's head with a happy chuckle.

Xander made his way down the ramp pulling his outer coat tight around him. Dear Force he hated the cold. He had come with the group more out of curiosity than anything. Since his conversation with Ella Nova he no longer carried even a training saber much less one he would need a crystal for. To say the man was conflicted was an understatement. The Jedi he had sought out to better understand well everything only left him with more questions than answers.

He hung back a bit form the rest of the group looking and listening briefly closing his eyes trying to fight back the cold creeping into the corners of his mind. The cave only most looked enticing to him as opposed to standing around in a snow storm.

By now visiting worlds covered in ice and snow had become an ordinary occurrence to Nina, who had grown accustomed to the biting cold of Midvinter. Rhen Var was cold, but not that cold in comparison. The Älk fur draped over her shoulders more than did the trick in keeping her warm and comfy. An invaluable product of the Valkyri, to be sure. Making her way down the ramp alongside the others who had come along on this trip for Coalition padawans, she felt her cheeks become reddened as the cold cut into them. She found the sensation quite enjoyable by now.

Always keeping a close eye on her little brother, Nina opted to remain close to her mother. While the two were as different-looking as could be, and despite not sharing the same blood, Coci was everything a mother should be: kind, caring, and fiercely protective. Much like her father, though the two were arguably as contrasting in appearance as mother and daughter. The only ones in her family that were similar in appearance was, of course, Théo. He was like a perfect blend between the two, with equal parts Valkyri and Corellian. In that respect Nina was the odd one out, being Umbaran.

Reaching for Coci's gloved hand, Nina looked up at her mother and smiled.

Looking out over the icy mountain standing tall ahead of him, Théo smiled. Naturally this place reminded him of his homeland, Midvinter but the mountain is but a hill by comparison to mountains in the rangers around Tháinbroek, but even still, they are majestic. He could sense the force strongly here, a child's openness of mind allowing the force unabridged to flow through him. Théo had come to recognise the force without trying now, aware of his surroundings taught to him by his master, [member="Nima Tann"].

His eyes pulled away from the mountain top to a familiar person playing in the snow, through the falling snow Théo made out the figure of his friend Zak. He laughed openly at his antics as he walked down the ramp, not far behind Nina. Théo had grown more, standing much taller than children his own age, his Valkyri blood having informed on his development and coupled with this, body strength which would match that of a teen. His sapphire blue eyes sparkled, a mirror image of his father's, as he saw the entrance of the cave. Oh boy! Such history here, but moreover ... adventure. He could not wait to get inside.

Théo stopped as he found his mother and Nina, pulled his fur to stop the flakes of snow dampening his clothes, he is warm with the help of the force but this cold is invigorating and summons his blood of his ancestors. He gains his mother's attention by tugging on her sleeve, "Can we go in yet?".

Feeling a familiar gentle touch on her hand, Coci knew immediately who had come to her. Both children sensed through the force as natural as breathing, but the touch of a loved one always welcome. She turned her head down and returned Nina's smile and as Théo joined them, Coci moved in front of them both.

"Now", she began, and began to fuss over their clothes. "I want you both to listen to me carefully", she tugs at Théo's robes and fur as he squirms. "This place is .. can be .. dangerous. I want you both to be mindful of the caves and give them respect. Be alert and watch over each other". Coci is more nervous than they are. "You call me if anything happens and I will come immediately, you both understand?".

Coci stood and let out a breath before looking around to all the Jedi, it was time to go. "I would like you all to proceed to the cave entrance, do not enter until the cave has been checked and the all clear given. Once we have established this, the masters and knights will give you your instructions before you enter. Only the Padawans seeking their crystals and those wishing to construct saber will pass through to the cave. The rest will remain in the main gathering area immediately as we enter", she signaled to a ship crew member to bring a large trunk in which were lightsaber components for those that required them. Those that wished for the components could choose them before entering the cave.

She looked down to her children, "Are you both ready?". Coci took their hands and led them to the cave.

Seeing all of the others around her had the Del-Ya standing taller and moving around a little, her tail swishing around a little while listening to the instructions and not needing to speak. She looked at [member="Zak Dymo"] who had been jumping around and having the most fun of the ones there before she started heading towards the entrance area to wait until the all clear was given. Her wings protecting her satchel with the pieces of saber components and what she needed for her as her nose started to itch and she sneezed digging her hooves into the ice to remain steady. The horn glowing a little while she brought ambient light to the tip in a miniature ball of glowing energy.

Kixi was eager to get on with this mission. Eager but in no rush of course. The objective of the task at hand was to seek a crystal for her to construct her own lightsabre. She of course already had a lightsabre, obviously not on her now, but if had never been constructed by herself. Now she had been given this opportunity to do just that. She sensed that the required crystals wouldn't come easy, but then again that was the overall challenge of what lay ahead.

She reached the cave entrance, fully stretched her body and then sat on the ground. She closed her eyes and slowly began meditating. She would need to be as relaxed and focus once permission to enter the cave and begin was given, thus she didn't want to simply just sit around and not do anything. Her mission had very much began.

Xander started towards the cave entrance when Coci finished speaking. He actually stopped at the trunk full of components looking through it. He did not know why he hesitated. Was it not part of the journey of a Jedi to create a lightsaber?

He stood looking at the trunk and at the cave for a few minutes before reaching in and grabbing the few things he needed. He didn't know what was in store for him, he had no idea what the force wanted with him. He would however do his best to be prepared for it.

Stepping into the cave Xander waited for instructions before proceeding into the cave. He looked around at the others in the group.

Seeing all the others moving towards the cave he quickly followed, carefully listening to the words of [member="Coci Heavenshield"] as she spoke. Even with all the extra layers the little Togruta was freezing, He trully didn't understand how all the others could handle it so well. The snow crunched under his boots, which even though they felt awkward on his feet, He was glad he had them today.

Seeing [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] and [member="Nina Heavenshield"] with their mother made him smile though deep down he missed being at home on Mandalore with Rawnie and Lor, He missed his Buirs very much. He would definitely have to send Rawnie a holo after this trip and let her know he was OK and the the "Space Wizards" were taking proper care of her Ry'ika

A snowball caught the boy in the side of the head.

Not to be dismayed, the Nautolan youngling immediately switched into his best method acting as he staggered as though mortally wounded by the flying sphere of white fluff. Face-planting, the green-skinned child went down into the snow at his feet, before flopping over in mock death throes and lying there, still.

That lasted for about two seconds.

After which, the boy began moving his arms and legs back and forth to create a snow angel. His head peeked up a moment later, as voices indicated that people were moving off toward the mouth of the cave.

As George watched the young Padawans exit the transport they all headed out in different directions, all doing their own thing before being brought together to start the mission. Once again he found himself seeing one of his fellow Nautolans the youngling by the name of Zak. He was a crazy little man and his energy seemed to never end. However this time the Padawan menace was not alone in this, another youngling exited the ship, seeing of Zak's relaxed and playful nature he too joined in, throwing a snowball at Zak. George couldn't help but laugh a little watching the younglings play around.

As George turned around back to face Master Coci both of her kids were standing by her side. As any mother he could sense her feels towards them, anxious and nervous. She worried like any other mother would. As she finished speaking to them she addressed the rest of the Padawans and all other Jedi who had joined the hunt. Directing everyone to move towards the entrance of the cave. George was still yet to find his own Padawan, must of missed the transport, but George could only wonder what had actually happened. But knowing that he was either still in the ship or on Voss comforted George, knowing that he was safe. As George walked towards the cave's entrance he walked passed Master Coci. "Master, I can watch over Nina and Theo if like?" He said calmly and quietly to the worried mother. He knew the Heavenshield kids were no doubt capable of protecting themselves, but he thought having someone at least watch over them would help comfort Master Coci, after all she was leading the expedition, which was enough to worry about.

"Wait here", she said to Nina and Théo. "Nina make sure Théo does not go off somewhere", she added with a knowing smile to Nina and gave Théo a stern look. "Knight O Rouke, if you will accompany me inside we will check the cave, Nina will take care of Théo".

Coci moved to stand in front of the entrance, it is closed to them. She raised her hand her palm facing the entrance and through it flowed the light side of the force. Coci closed her black eyes and summon the entrance to open. A funnel of the light side weaved it's way to the stone, spreading across the surface, allowing it to sense her power and demand. As George would join her, the entrance begun to open, a grinding sound of the rock crapping against itself echoed through the valley which lay behind them, until the opening was completed. Without hesitation, Coci walked inside into the main room. The vast room that would greet them, stood frozen in time, the stone carved pillars coated with ice, the small set of stairs leading up to the cave itself, coated with a thick ice slippery but shone with the intruding light from the outside. Sparkling with minute crystals of water and minerals, countless years old themselves.

The presence of the force strong and pulsing, as if welcoming them as friends relishing their presence. Coci looked up to the vaulted ceiling and marveled at the stone work, the simplicity of the design striking and beautiful but she only allowed herself a moment to indulge this splender. "George check room .. I will enter the cave".

It did not take long to ascertain that cave was safe. No hidden being is waiting no creature only their souls would provide any form of test as they enter this place and that, Coci can not guard against.

As George stood beside Master Coci and the Heavenshield children Master Coci spoke. Asking for him to follow her and that Nina would be capable of watching over Theo he obliged, following her to the entrance of the cave. Currently closer Master Coci extended her hand, palm facing the wall in front of them, closing her eyes the lightside of the force emanating from her began to remove the wall from the entrance. George followed in his Masters footsteps. Extending his own hand with the palm also facing the wall he closed his eyes and allowed the lightside of the force within to shoot out like a web over the wall. Reaching out to the edge of the wall it slowly moved out of the way. The rock on rock movement created a grinding sound that echoed out through the valley behind them.

As the entrance was completely clear the pair of them moved inside. Instructed to check the room, making sure it was safe for everyone to enter. "Got it Master." He replied nodding his head as they split up. The room was massive, the ceiling was very high and the light that shun through created an amazing view. It was simple, yet elegant. Something that had stood for hundreds upon thousands of years. But had not degraded, not even slightly. As he moved through the room, letting the force flow out to the ends of the rooms looking for any disturbances in the force, no matter how small. His searches came up empty, there was nothing but the extreme power of the lightside of the force, which flowed through his body. It was an amazing feeling, like nothing he had felt before. The sheer strength of it enlighten George.

After mother had left to check the cave, he looked around for his friend. He found him laying in the snow creating a pattern with his body, he had seen Mysa this, and smiled. "Hey there!", he greeted his friend with an ever growing smile. "You trying to swim in it?", he joked. Théo looked over to the other boy, he did not know him, but it was good to see another boy for a change, so many girls surrounded Théo which was alright, but still.

"Hello", he said to the boy. "I am Théo and this .. ", he turned to Nina. "This is Nina", he took her hand once more.

"Impressive isn't it", she said softly as she reentered the main room. Taking care to walked down the stairs, Coci approached George. "It is clear in the cave, go bring them in please. It is time they explored the area and when they are ready, they can entered".

Coci moved to the side, and sat on a stone bench, for the moment she remained there once more taking in the surroundings. But moreover she waits for her children and will give them their final instructions before they enter the caves. She smiled, the idea of them both growing up and becoming wonderful people warmed her heart more than any ability in the force could. And yet of course it is laced with a thread of sadness, time is marching by, everyone getting that little bit older. She wished Thurion was here to see them. But he is never far away and will know.
