A Common Family

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay opened up the drapes in her office, letting in the natural light. She cared for more of that these days, even opened up the windows to get some fresh air. Perhaps she was just a little nervous. Water was boiling in the kettle for her tea, yet while she was distracted with her thoughts, she didn't even think to prepare the tea leaves yet. That was always something that was second nature to her.

She had asked for her son [member="Bradshaw Ku"] to meet up with her there. Kay had news for him and wasn't quite certain how he'd react. She asked for [member="Veiere Arenais"] to come as well as he deserved to be there for it as well. But it was all up to him. Neither had wanted to make it public yet until they were certain and even then, she wondered if it could be held off for longer. Nightmares from her abduction still haunted her at times and she didn't want their news to showcase a weakness or a target for anyone wanting to cause them harm.

Kay found herself walking over to the table to eat a biscuit to stave off her appetite and calm her nerves. Was it just nerves? Or something else? It wasn't as though she had gone through such a thing before. Regardless she forced herself to sit down while she waited for one of them to step in.

Hopefully she wouldn't have to wait long.

She wouldn't be waiting long at all.

Since returning to Commenor, he had made it his priority to show more of a presence within the Palace, letting the others see that their King had indeed returned to take on much of the work load that was usually left in the hands of his wife or her assistants. Across the morning he had already met with a number of contractors regarding the chambers of congress to talk over changes to come to house the place not for a senate but for the congregation of world leaders and Chasin Cities head of government that the place be readied for the Confederacy that they were reverting to.

He had also made plans to visit Gyndine again in the near future and speak to [member="Corey Brave"] regarding the current production of their naval fleet and the potential to up the output they were seeing in line as things stood. With the future ahead looking to hold more dangers than they'd seen coming, the defense of the people and most importantly to he himself, protecting his family, the Systems Alliance were slowly making moves to pull their assets back into their own territories and away from the outskirts, restocking, refueling and revitalizing their military strategy since the revelation that the Iron Knights and their Contingency had brought down upon the Force Praxeum within the Illaria Woodlands.

"Hello love..." Veiere smiled to his wife, reaching the side of her chair and leaning down to place a kiss to her cheek. She was still getting used to having him around as frequently as he was. The months before this, he had spent living among the Jedi and away from the home he adored so much, "Is everything alright?".

Kay looked up at [member="Veiere Arenais"] as he walked in. Oh good, he was able to make it. She gave him a relieved smile and even tilted her head to the side so that he had better access to her cheek when he leaned down to kiss it. "I'm alright my dear. And so is everything else, so far."

Her hand reached his and took a gentle hold of it, interlacing their fingers. "I asked Brad to come as well. Though whether or not he's out riding his speederbike or flirting with someone, who knows? But I thought that since he's home, we should tell him the news. I'm not quite sure how he's going to react. He could be as shocked as we were." And in some ways they were probably both still in shock. Or rather Kay was.

She had another bite of her biscuit and then realized that she forgot her tea. It was funny to her that she couldn't smell it steeping. Was she noseblind to it? Or?... Kay got to her feet, letting go of her husband's hand. "Would you like some tea? Or some brandy?" Thankfully she could still have tea during this...condition. While waiting for his answer, she walked around to the side table again and smirked to herself as she realized that she didn't prepare the leaves. She took them out of their pouch and crumpled them into the cup before pouring in the water. Now she could smell the Sapir leaves and the calming scent that rose into the air with the steam.

A sense of deja-vu came across her then, but she couldn't think of what happened further. Maybe it just reminded her of the time that they told [member="Bradshaw Ku"] that they were going to be wed. Yes, that was probably it.

Bradshaw Ku

Crown Prince of Commenor
Location:
The Freighter Cantina, lower levels, Coruscant.

It hadn’t taken Bradshaw long to grow restless waiting for the Force to again point him in the direction of his lost younger sister. So he’d taken a more active approach.

The cantina was badly lit, as if the owners couldn’t swallow the thought of paying more than necessary for something as trivial as light. It was packed with the system’s local scum and villainy, and alarmingly smelled like something that came out of either end of a Hutt. This wasn’t a place you took mom for Sunday brunch, that was for sure. But it was a place with which Bradshaw was plenty familiar. Not this specific hole, but the more general type of hole that pockmarked the less pleasant places across the galaxy. Booz was cheap, food was even cheaper — because it was inedible — and women were easy. Though, not always cheap and not always friendly, they’d steal your wallet at the best opportunity.

But he wasn’t here for pleasure.

A nod toward a large Trandoshan drinking by himself at a table in the cantina’s far corner. Apparently, nobody wanted to join the threatening lizard even with the lack of tables and seats.

“That him?”
He asked Freeosk. His very large Yuzzem bodyguard standing beside him.

“Yep.”

He took a deep breadth.
“I was afraid you’d say that. Hold my beer.”

Having weaved his way through the crowd of drunken patrons, he tapped the Trandoshan on the shoulder.
“Excuse me. Your girlfriend told me to give you a few tips after last night.”

He tried to dodge the swift right hook he knew was coming, but even with forewarning he couldn’t move fast enough. The fist crashed into his rips, lifted him off his feet, and threw him onto the neighbouring table wear he slid across it and onto the floor.

That was all it took for the room to explode into chaotic scuffling. Most didn’t know why they were punching the nearest being next to them, but they never lost sleep over details.

Moments later, Bradshaw and Freeosk blasted through the doors and out into the dark and dirty lower city.
“You could've helped me.” Bradshaw complained while he did his best to limp along side the giant. Blood smeared on his glove when he wiped his busted lip.

“You told me to hold your beer.”
He held up the beer. “I did .”

“There was more than one of them… I thought there’d only be one… did you at least get what we came for.”

“Of course.”
Freeosk handed over the Trandoshan’s wallet. Geemiss Jeggi, bounty hunter, slaver, and all around nice guy. “Yep, he’s the one. And now we’ve got all his contacts. The big idiot never saw it coming.

Just then, Geemiss and a few of his fellow compatriots rushed out of the cantina. They weren’t the type to give warnings. Instead, blaster bolts whizzed by the odd couple just before they rounded a corner.

“I can’t run any faster. It hurts too much…”

Before he could suggest another strategy, Freeosk wrapped his powerful left arm around Bradshaw and carried him like a sack of potatoes as he ran through the narrow streets toward their freighter.

“This.. doesn’t.. hurt.. less..”

“That wasn’t the point. It’s faster.”

“I love how you’re so caring all the time.”

“You’re the idiot who wanted to insult a bounty hunter. I don’t know why you didn’t have me make the distraction while you stole his wallet. At least there would be less whining.”

Bradshaw wanted to punch himself.
“You know what… that’s the.. smartest thing you’ve.. ever.. said to me. How the karking hell did I not come up with.. that?!”

“Shorty, get the freighter ready.. we’re coming in hot..”
He said through his communicator once he’d managed to unhook it from his belt while being jostled around. Then noticed a message from his mother. She wanted to meet with him. Looks like I’ll be a little late to the meeting, he mused to himself, as usual.

“Sorry, I’m on Coruscant at the moment just taking care of a little business.”
He sent back via message. "In the process of leaving though, so I’ll meet up with you as soon as I get on planet. Shouldn’t be too long.”
