A Day at the Palace

-A day as a servant

A day in the life of a servant in Crina's Royal Palace is one filled with daily work. One can always find a maid or two traversing the many halls of the Royal Family's abode and center of government cleaning them several times a day. Many can also be discovered on hand in several rooms and on call in the staff quarters. Their primary jobs are to prepare the meals for the staff and inhabitants of the palace and keep things presentable for nobles visiting, the Royal Family's day to day, and even visiting dignitaries now that the Imperial Remnant have also setup their own leadership within the Palace.

The only areas of the Palace the servants of the Palace won't be seen is in the Private Counsel Chambers where much of the actual business of politics takes place, or the Royal Guard's barracks and hanger for security measures. Nonetheless they dutifully deal with their tasks and most usually hold a smile on their faces as they do it. They work in what could be considered the safest place on Crina, or just the best defended, and at the same time they have the greatest honor working for Royalty, a step up from even their fellows in Nobles villas.

-A day as a engineer

The Royal Palace is also frequented by engineers among the Royal Army, selected for their valor and service through rigorous screening before being promoted into the Royal Guard to serve at the palace. It is the job of these elite mechanics to go about the complex of the Palace and ensure that such things as the generators powering the shields are operational and without flaw, that the Anti-Air defense emplacements are at max capacity and undamaged, and that the fighters, interceptors, and tanks within the hanger on the palace grounds are ready for combat should the Palace ever find itself under siege.

Their rounds take them around the Palace on a daily basis much like the servants, but in fewer numbers and less restrictions. Their jobs have increased with security as of late, after the rebel's attempted coup during the battle the Imperial Remnant intervened in, many engineers found themselves under suspicion, and some traitors discovered, now they are under much greater scrutiny with the Royal Guard keeping watch over their actions to both ensure they perform their jobs to the fullest, and do not attempt subterfuge.

-A day as a pilot

A less task heavy job, the pilots of the Royal Guard selected from the best of the best within the Royal Navy find themselves working a relatively quiet post as compared to their time on the front lines. Acting as the Palace's major defensive measure, these pilots are normally sent out before the shield generator is activated so that they might intercept enemy forces with the weaponry to break through the shield. Alternatively in the case that an enemy force would definitely overpower the defenders, the pilots of the Royal Guard may be held in reserve to escort evacuating chief staff and the Royal Family.

However, neither occurrence has threatened the Palace. Too deep within Royalist territory for the Rebellion to ever assault directly, the Royal Palace has seen no actual battles take place at its walls. The closest ever coming to such was the final attempted coup, which the pilots of the Royal Guard could likely not have acted against as it happened with the structure itself.

Most of the time the pilots work on taking hour long patrols before rotating out, and take part in monthly training courses to keep their skills as sharp as they were on the battlefield before they earned their posts.

-A day as a soldier

Perhaps the most intensive job at the Royal Palace, the soldiers of the Royal Guard, considered the elite troops of Crina outside Lord General St. Tiberius' Blessed Battalion during its existence in history, constantly patrol the halls of the Palace on the lookout for gaps in security. Willing to throw their lives on the line in order to defend the Royal Family, High Command, and even the Remnant's staff now taking up residence, the Royal Guard are as common a sight as the servants since the Civil War ended and the near successful coup shook them to take greater lengths to protect their charges. Though that incident was not entirely their fault as they had snuck in through old access channels now closed on the part of sympathizers now locked away.

Wearing their brilliant and intimidating Crinan Armor, the Royal Guard are among the few special units equipped with Crinan Energy Blades as well as they maintain the safety of the Palace grounds. Guarding every entrance into the government's center of operations, and keeping the corridors and grand halls clear of potential threats, they are the soldiers first on scene at the sound of an alarm or should a threat approach the vicinity.

-A day as a guest

Most usually nobles or practitioners overseeing different regions around the Planet, the guests at the Royal Palace regardless of their reasons for their visitation are able to enjoy many of the luxuries available courtesy of the staff on hand. Kept in brilliant and lavish guest wings to keep those dealing with the government, whether it be the Royal Family itself, High Command, or merely government adviser intermediaries, in relative comfort even if their negotiations or reports do not go as smoothly as they hoped.

Nonetheless they do not enjoy full access to the Palace, and in fact may have less freedom to wander than the staff unless given such permissions under the escort of the Royal Guard as allowed by government officials. Even though it would be unlikely for a guest to visit the generator rooms or idle too long with the hanger complex or barracks.

Still, they can spend time enjoying the deliciously prepared foods and speak with Royalty during their stay so at the very least they can say they were well treated during their stay.

-A day as an adviser

Whether it be for High Command or for the Royal Family, an adviser within the Royal Palace finds their days filled with paperwork, filing, and running back and forth through the halls as they work to put orders from those in power into action. Not that they are not without such power themselves, having authority given to them in certain matters, able to answers the calls of minor requests from the nobility or Practitioners making passing visits. They perhaps could be considered the most vital staff in the running of the government, as they provide references and collect the information and pass it about to High Command and the Royal Family when they pass judgement, without them the process of making decisions within the Palace and on Crina overall would take much longer.

Aside from performing the tasks of elevated clerks, Advisers also hold court on matters with High Command and the Royal Family if their position permits it. Normally meaning they are there to provide advice in the fields of information they hold dominion over, though the final decision on matters falls to their superiors regardless of their input.

-A day as High Command

The generals and commanders of the Royal Army and Navy, the High Command of Crina holds counsel within the confines of the Palace walls. From the safety of the Palace grounds they issue their orders to all of Crina's forces, the highest authority on the planet after the Royal Family. In fact unless the Royal Family intervenes otherwise they are highly autonomous, though they are normally appointed and kept in their positions by the Royal Family under review and thus highly inclined to stay loyal and maintain the policies laid out by the government's most exalted power. Still, their word and advice is taken to heart even by the Royal Family, and it is because of that word the Royal Palace sports the one of the few generators on Crina besides the Cosmina Academy.

They also were the ones to keep the Royal Forces in order in history when General Tiberius fell in battle, and the ones to recommend the cover up of his pitiful death to the Royal Family. Since the Imperial Remnant has entered as a higher authority on the world they've mostly worked toward regulating local defenses and security as work is done to integrate what is needed to be merged with Imperial command.

-A day as Royalty

Depending on which member of the Royal Family you follow their days can be very different. The daughters of the royal family will find themselves in tutoring sessions until they reach an appropriate age to study at Cosmina or the St. Tiberius Academies. If they've already graudated then they can be found wandering the halls as they are led about to study the aspects of the government's functions, to where the Queen and King hold court in the throne room and listen to reports from Practitioners and Nobles who oversee the various regions of Crina, to the counsel chambers of High Command where they delve into the logistics of the military and determine the orders they have to issue around the globe, they even are guided to learn about the security of the Palace as well as the duties of the staff.

Meanwhile the actual King and Queen have a different day, holding court sessions weekly or daily depending on circumstance and taking in reports from the noble houses and chief practitioners who inform them of the status of the different regions. Whether it be an influx of crime, to a rise in disease, to news on natural disasters, to a rebel movement, to the emergence of violent kath hound packs, or even rogue practitioners and soldiers turning to black magic, they hear them all. They listen and provide their input, normally dismissing the court to return to matters the next day after they move to the archives or council halls to hear the voice of their advisers and High Command on matters they may be more equipped to handle. Then they make the decision and it is passed along during the next court session.

It was during such a meeting with High Command when rebel movements increased that the King of Crina finally caved in and invited the Remnant to step in.
