A Day On Belasco

[member="Doctor Zendu"]

Belasco, a planet Jason has never set foot on. It seemed nice today to do so though. After all, he was visiting the doctor that was known around these parts. He hoped they didn't have any defensive air group because his YTA-2150 Light Freighter looked like a foreign one. Putting all his thoughts aside, he landed in a spaceport. Jason grabbed what he needed such as himself and a data pad. As he walked through the town, he came to a stop once his data pad said "Doctor Zendu's Residence". "What happened to being private..."[
/color] he mumbled walking in. Jason came to stairs so he walked up them in a spiral. Once he walked far enough up, he saw an office with an open door so he knocked. [Color=ff0000]"Doctor Zendu?"

Doctor Robert Zendu, renowned Xenopsychiatrist was just settling down with some takeout lunch and a dense Holo magazine article about the personality and individual differences of the Bith species when he heard a knock at the door. With a frown he crossed to the door and inspected the security terminal, where he saw a tall, well-dressed human male. The doctor surmised his receptionist must have popped out for a caf because why else hadn't the man been asked to wait in the waiting room? It was so hard to find good employees in the galaxy these days.

Then all of a sudden, he snapped his fingers as he suddenly remembered the appointment he had booked with a psychic. The man had contacted him about a possible partnership, and Robert was highly interested to find out if this Jason Arkada possessed the powers he said he did. Psychics, much like psychiatrists, had their fair share of charlatans.

The doctor enthusiastically swung his office door wide open, greeting Jason with a toothy grin and a handshake. "Hello, I'm Doctor Robert Zendu. You must be the pyschic, Jason Arkada?"

"Yes, nice to meet you Doctor Zendu." he said holding out his hand. The doctor seemed like he'd been studying something, perhaps analyzing something. Then, he had a vision. "Doctor Zendu, was you reading something approximately ten seconds ago?" he asked hoping the vision was correct.

Smiling, the young psychiatrist nodded and ushered Jason into his home office, a sleekly decorated space with expansive windows that looked out over the sparkling city below. A bar droid rolled up to them with a bleep, offering his guest a glass of water infused with namana fruit.

"Please, call me Robert. And yes, Mr. Arkada, I was reading a Holo mag actually. That's quite astute of you." He gave the man a tight-lipped smile, but didn't show too much enthusiam over the man's revelation, after all it could have merely been an educated guess given that the doctor's office contained wall-to-wall book and Holo shelves.

Robert decided to do something unorthodox and lay down on his own Hover sofa, his thin hand gesturing for Jason to sit in a nearby chair. "Let me know if you need me sitting up for our session. If it makes no difference to you, I'd rather recline." He grinned at the man. "Other than that, I'm in your capable hands."

The doctor had no idea what to expect from a psychic reading and simply lay there awkwardly on his sofa looking at Jason.

Taking the glass, he walked over to sit where the doctor said. He set the glass on the floor and said, "It doesn't matter, as long as you don't fall asleep." he joked as he analyzed him. He noticed the room was neat and clean. Maybe this wasn't really being psychic but he didn't know how to start. "Does your droid clean here every morning? Perhaps the chair first. I can't help but notice how clean it is."

The doctor leaned back and folded his hands behind his head, crossing his legs as he settled into the plush Hover sofa. "I don't think you have to worry about me nodding off. I've been looking forward to your visit so I am definitely awake." At his first question, the doctor blinked and shook his head. "I do have a cleaning droid, yes, and it does a marvelous job. But I don't actually know what it starts cleaning first." Robert suddenly turned towards Jason with a quizzical expression and adjusted his glasses.

"So how does this work anyway? Do you need me to ask you questions about things like my job and my relationships? Is there love in my future? Stuff like that?"

He gave a smirk and said, "If that's what you would like to ask." Talking to a doctor was like talking to a expert. They knew everything about everything so its hard to show off. Not saying that was Jason's goal but he had to proove he was psychic in some way.

Robert smiled and leaned back again on his sofa. He had to admit it felt odd to be on this end of things, and it was hard to know what to do with his hands sans notebook and pen, so he just folded them neatly over his chest. But he was ready to learn all about his future, if the psychic could do what he said he could do, the doctor thought skeptically.

"Ok, Mr. Arkada. I will ask you about my love life, then. I do have a love interest right now." His face broke out into a wide grin at the thought of his partner. "We've only just started dating, but I was wondering what you saw in our future?"

Robert looked over to Jason expectantly, hoping his and Rhen's future together didn't look bleak.

Jason adjusted the way he sat himself and began to think. "I don't like answering these kind of questions. Maybe because I usually get told to go off but in a non pleasing manner or maybe because some things are better left unsaid." he paused looking the doctor in the eyes. "I see something good, but the rest is cloudy. There's only so far I will tell you or anyone. Not because I don't want to say it, because its not the time to let you know. I hope you understand my way of work. How long have you known this woman?" he asked grabbing the glass and sipping some of the liquid inside.

With a furrowed brow the doctor put his hands out in an attempt to console the other man. "Don't worry, I'd certainly never tell you off for merely foretelling the future. That would be like a patient getting angry at me for simply breaking the news that he's schizophrenic. But you have me very curious about my relationship so if there is anything else you see, I would like to hear more. Don't worry, I can take it even if it's bad news." Robert noticed the psychic sipping his water and added, "By the way, I have some stronger beverages if you'd prefer something like a stiff drink instead of water."

Robert frowned and adjusted his glasses again. "There's one little detail you got very wrong though, Jason. My partner's gender. My lover isn't a woman. He's a man. A handsome Mandalorian bounty hunter." Another grin. "We've only been on one date so far, and he stayed the night. Can you at least tell me how he feels about me?"

"I see. Thank you for understanding." he said with a pause. "I appreciate the offer but I think being sober or less relaxed while doing the job enhances my abilities." he said smiling as he set the glass back down onto the floor. With an embarrassed look under his casual look, he thought about what he'd say. "Oh. I suspected you are a heterosexual, but by all means, I'm not trying to offend you. Anyways, feelings aren't something I can psych out of someone or something. However, I may be able to figure out something by asking you a few questions if you don't mind." he said hoping he wouldn't mind.

"No offense taken," Robert gave the man a tepid smile. Robert almost corrected Jason to say that he was in actuality bisexual or omnisexual if you counted alien species with several sets of reproductive organs, but he didn't feel like that information was relevant to the task at hand, so he simply said, "It's a common mistake."

The doctor perked up when the psychic said that he might be able to suss out their relationship status by asking him a few questions. After all, Robert didn't have any other pressing concerns about the future. With his therapy practice in full swing and some new developmental pharmaceutical work on the horizon, his career seemed as bright as a super nova. It was romance that his life had been lacking. That is until he'd had that date with Rhen.

With a hopeful expression on his face, Robert nodded at Jason, "Sure, ask me anything you like. I'm an open book."

Jason nodded as he thought of a question. Thousands came to mind but some were too personal. "How long have you known each other counting the date and before?" he asked. That was the basic question, not too personal and not too emotional. As a psychic, you must know how to control the situation. Sorta like a doctor or what Mr Zendu does. If you don't control the situation, the patient or key will do it for you and that could mean good or bad.

Robert pondered the question. He had met his date on the C.U.P.I.D. Holonet dating service so he hadn’t known the Mandalorian before the date, and other than their night together, they’d had no contact since. He suddenly feared that maybe he had just been a one night stand for the other man.

Robert played with his tie as he spoke. “We met each other on a blind date, he spent the night, and other than that, we haven’t had contact.” He was terribly rusty at the dating game, but he thought that his date had felt the same sparks. “He did talk about taking us taking a trip to Mandalore soon.”

“Are things still cloudy, Mr. Arkada?”

"C.U.P.I.D.? Interesting. Well, if he mentioned a trip, that must mean he wants to spend some more time with you." he paused to grab the drink and sip it but he set it back down. "Precisely. A few more questions. What was his tone during the date? Like was he rushing or was he relaxed?" Jason asked realizing he was sounding like a doctor. Sounding like a doctor wasn't bad, If anything, good practice.

Another broad grin crossed the young psychiatrist's face as he remembered the evening. Only Robert wasn't sure how much to tell the psychic. After all, many of the details were extremely personal things that would be hard to share with the stranger who had only just walked into his office. But he shared what he could in order for Jason to give him the most accurate reading possible.

"He was relaxed. Not rushed in the slightest. We spent the evening sweet-talking each other in Mando'a, and he was impressed with my mastery of his peoples' native tongue." The doctor chuckled with pride. "Galactic languages are my specialty." Robert continued.

"He didn't mind my questions about his profession, and he offered to train me in self-defense if I wanted. Although I thought maybe that was just a ploy for him to get me with my shirt off." Here he smiled knowingly. "Does that make the picture more clear?"

"Yes, just a bit though. The future seems more clear. It seems okay on the rate you're going. I think you should take it slow though. Its still clouded which means anything could happen." he said grabbing his glass and drinking the rest of the drink.

Zendu shook his head vigorously. "You're absolutely right. I need to take it slow. So I don't scare him away." He sighed. "I just hadn't been on a date in so long. I guess I forgot the rules of the game. Should I Holocall him? Or let him Holocall me? Should I comment on his C.U.P.I.D. profile? Change my relationship status?"

He laughed lightly. "It's obvious I have no idea what I'm doing in the arena of love." Then, Robert looked Jason squarely in the eyes. "I feel like you're my relationship counselor, not my psychic," he joked.

"Well, enough about that subject. What else do you see, Jason? I've recently been delving into the experimental pharmaceutical market. Is there success in my future?"

He laughed at the joke as he set the glass down. "You will be successful Robert, just make sure all of your effort and time isn't just on your career. I knew a scientist once who became so obessed with his experiment, he became the experiment. Maybe that doesn't relate to your success but it does to your social life." he finished inhaling and exhaling. He could talk for hours if he got into the material.
