A deal as sweet as Bacta (one post)

Zev Stargo

Guest
Zev walked his guest into a dimly lit room, the black floors reflecting their forms as they moved towards a long silver table in the middle of the room. The level of flawless perfection the room seemed to exert was ominous, almost like the room crafted by an angelic devil for the purposes of deception and evil. The chairs that sat around the shining silver table had been hand crafted, using obsidian and had a swirling column design with depictions of Geonsosian tales scrolled across them.

“Very exotic designs, Mr. Stargo.” the visitor noted as he took a gentle seat in the chair

Stargo took his own seat, at the head of the table, before giving a calm, emotionless response “Yes, I had them crafted by a Geonosian named Ru Tak. He was the royal architect for Torga the Divine.”

“Torga the Divine?” the visitor asked. It wasn’t a surprise that the CEO of Xucphra Corporation didn’t know the history of Geonosis, unlike the CEO of Baktoid Armor Workshop, who was next on Zev’s list of meetings this month.

“Indeed, he was the last Geonosian king to rule all of the hives before the outbreak of The War of Corruption.”

The CEO gave Zev a curious look “I’m not familiar with it.”

“It is an interesting tale.” Zev responded as he took a cigar and offered it to the CEO. The man turned it away with a wave of his hand, so Zev stuck it in his own mouth and lit it. Blowing his first plum of smoke into the air, Zev began “Are you familiar with the South Systems Syndicate?”

The man nodded “Who isn’t?”

“I figured as much, they are quite the infamous group of slime. At any rate, during their early days the Syndicate offered passage off Geonosis while the Gulag Plauge was still problematic. After the plague, many Geonosians returned to find their planet slowly rebuilding to its former glory. The remaining Gen’Dai leader of the matured Syndicate took it upon himself to install his own leader to unite the rebuilding hives. That leader was Torga the Divine, he got his name because he seemed to have the ability to unite the species under him like some kind of God, or at least the legends say.”

“If he was so favored, why was there a war?”

“Well, a group of hive leaders decided to take it upon themselves to rebel against this king because they discovered his corruption. As a result, a war of epic proportions broke out and left the world in ruin. Billions died and almost all the matured queens had been slaughtered, it almost wiped the species out. However, as it is evident, the species survived the war and now lives as a series of hives that are united under a shared rule of queens and archdukes.” Zev was only telling a majority of the story, but what he was not telling was the fact that the war had solved nothing. After all the devastation and war, the leaders now in power had accepted Syndicate corruption to avoid the criminal organization from sending their mercenary battalion, a much smaller version of its current army, to wipe out what little Geonosians remained. They had affectively made the nearly extinctioning conflict completely and utterly worthless.

The CEO nodded his head “That is quite the tale Mr. Stargo, I had no idea of the history that the planet had.”

“I doubt many are aware of it. However, I believe we should get on with our business.

“Yes, that sounds like a good idea. I believe you were about to give your proposal.

Zev took another puff of his cigar as he reached into his pocket and placed a datapad on the table “As you are the sole share holder of Xucphra Corporation, I am offering to buy the entirety of your company at which point it will be merged in Stargo Enterprise.”

The CEO gave Zev a twisted look “I thought I had established that I want to maintain half of the company and that there would not be a complete merger.”

Zev looked at his guest with unfeeling eyes “Yes, that is what you wanted but I have other plans for the company that, I am afraid, you are not apart of. Do not worry, Mr. Harper, I plan on paying you a large sum, there will be no need for you to maintain half the company.”

“Mr. Stargo, I am not going to sit here while you insult my requests. I wish to pass this company down to my family, even if it is only at half ownership. I am afraid that a complete buyout is out of the question, so if this is your only offer I bid you a good day.”

The CEO began to get up from his seat when Zev suddenly slid the datapad over to him. The CEO stopped it before it slid off the table, his eyes wondering up to Zev “What is this?”

Zev didn’t answer he simply motioned with his cigar for him to pick it up and read. The CEO did so cautiously, picking the pad up and turning the screen on. As his eyes scanned the words, they began to widen and his jaw dropped. “I know about your little…erotic affair with those Twi’Leks. I figured the right thing to do would be to tell poor Miss Harper that her loyal husband enjoys the company of exotic male dancers.”

Harper looked up to Zev with eyes as wide as suns and pulled the datapad into his body “please, you believe I would give you the only copy of the evidence? Now, we can avoid this little…lapse in judgment to go unnoticed if you agree to my terms. Think about it, Mr. Harper, if you just accept the money your family can be without worries for at least a generation more…alternatively it can be torn apart.”

Harper fell back into his chair, his eyes wide as his thoughts ran a million miles a minute. A few minutes went by and Zev just watched his guest, smoking his cigar calmly as he waited for the response he knew would come “Y-you promise this will never get out to my wife and kids?” Harper finally stuttered out

“You have my word.”

Harper shook his head, tears beginning to form in his eyes as they fell down to the floor “Okay…okay Mr. Stargo…you have a deal.”

Zev’s face was stone cold, but inside he had a cynical grin forming “I knew you would see things my way…Mr. Harper.”
