GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: A.I.M. - Armed Intelligent Machines
  • Affiliation:
  • Classification: Artillery
  • Description: The A.I.M. unit is a specialized group of Imperial walkers equipped with advanced artificial intelligence, allowing them to think and operate on their own. These machines saw heavy usage mid-to-late Third Imperial Civil War. Used in a variety of wartime scenarios, most notably in urban sprawls and wide-open landscapes.

COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Unit Size: Small
  • Unit Availability: Rare
  • Unit Experience: Veteran
  • Equipment:
    • Each A.I.M. use an AT-ATx All-Terrain Armored Transport as its base
    • Additional technology can be equipped to each unit, but the complexity of their design limits these modifications to only a few items
  • Combat Function:
    • A.I.M. walkers serve the exact same function as AT-ATx All-Terrain Armored Transports do in battle. They are meant to take a lot of damage and deal it back out with the same intensity
    • Typically paired with other manned Imperial vessels in combat situations. Very rarely are these units deployed by themselves
    • Used in urban cityscapes and wide plains of battlefields

Strengths:
  • In The Fields, The Bodies Burning: The large stature of the A.I.M. units allow them to cover a lot of ground on the battlefield. No need for thousands of troopers to fill a wide-open range. Strength is found in numbers with these walkers, especially when dozens can be deployed at once for attack.
  • As The War Machine Keeps Turning: A lumbering beast made out of Titanium, the A.I.M. units are literal tanks out on the battlefield. They are able to take thousands of hits, and lay out many more, all while barely obtaining a scratch. Much effort will need to be put in if one hops to down this walker.
Weaknesses:
  • Death And Hatred to Mankind: While the artificial intelligence that is used to power the walkers is highly advanced, it is still limited in certain aspects. The computer uses data to provide the best possible outcome for the current scenario. But if a new problem or challenge is presented, then it takes time for the A.I.M. unit to process and react, thus leaving it exposed to fire.
  • Poisoning Their Brainwashed Minds: As is the case with most mechanized vehicles, the A.I.M. units are still susceptible to EMP attack. It will take more than one small grenade to disable them, but if enough were to be used in a quick succession, then the walker has a chance of becoming disabled and vulnerable.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Early 860ABY.

A time of great conflict for the freshly established New Imperial Order. War spread across multiple systems as they tried to free themselves from the grasp of The Sith Empire. During this time, a young politician and designer by the name of Jake Groundrunner wanted to create a reputation for himself as a valuable asset to the Imperials. Much of his time would be spent gathering funds needed for the next great piece of technology that would help win the war. One such development was the A.I.M. unit.

Known fully as the Armed Intelligent Machine, the A.I.M. unit was going to be used as a new way to faster deploy vessels into battle, without the need to train operators for months. The plan was to first start with AT-SAT walkers, making quick and effective attackers for battle. Unfortunately, the weight of the "brain" of the AI, mainly the processors and databanks, proved to be too heavy. The walker slowed down tremendously. The plan was scrapped, but not the idea. Setting his sights bigger, Jake moved to implement his design in the AT-ATx. Now with much stronger support, the walker was able to hold the weight needed.

Accessing the Imperial records, Jake was able to find information about all the previous engagements of the military forces. With permission, he was able upload this data into the artificial intelligence of the walker's processor. It was not perfect at first, but that is why there were test trials. So, the politician decided to fly to the planet Thyrsus and put the machines to the test. Though short, the test was able to confirm the abilities of the walker. More funding was able to be obtained. Soon, there was now a small unit of these A.I.M. walkers ready to be deployed across Sith space.

Various engagements were then carried out all across the territory of The Sith Orders. Though A.I.M. walkers were somewhat expensive to deploy, they proved to be useful assets on the battlefield. One of the unit's most notable engagements was the Second Invasion of Ziost, a joint operation between the Galactic Alliance and the New Imperial Order. Fighting alongside Stormtroopers and Alliance Forces, the walkers were dropped outside of the main city, instructed to join the fight within the city.

Their initial support proved to be valuable to the overall battle. It did not take long before walkers started to engage enemy forces on the outskirts of the city. The hellfire that they rained down though was quickly halted as an unexpected orbital bombardment began to strike the units. The large stature of the A.I.M. walkers made them easy targets for the enemy ship. Countering the best they could, the walkers started to fire back into the sky in hopes to ignite the bombardments before they hit the ground. While it did slow down some of the attack, the effort would not be enough. Eventually all of the walkers succumbed to the orbital assault.

While the invasion proved to be costly for the New Imperial Order, there was still an opportunity to salvage some of the defeat. Seconds before the last A.I.M. walker was struck down, the lone unit managed to transmit its programming to a data storage facility within Ravelin, Bastion. It was here that the full set of code required to power one of these walkers would be stored for years before eventually being recovered and repurposed by the Imperial Military Protectorate.
