A job for the Security Bureau, perhaps?

Hello everyone. I came across a little intel that might pique the interest of the FOSB today:

Someone is making a faction on Virgillia called the Virgillia Trade Company. The company seems to be a produce seller - while at the same time being a front for a narcotics ring.

Obviously since we're fascists and drugs are bad mmkay, I thought that the FOSB might want to do a little investigating into the matter. And by investigating, I mean raiding and shutting it all down, if the drugs are discovered :)

I'm in touch with the faction owner, we'll see what she has to say about this. But setting up a drug smuggling ring in the First Order's backyard would definitely carry consequences if found.

[member="Orentho"] and [member="Hyori Tal"], I'm thinking an investigation into the company would be a good place to start. I would leave the 'how' up to your discretion. Maybe reports of drugs on the streets leading back to the company somehow?

Hopefully [member="Charlotte Miraak"] is game to play along. It sounds like an opportunity for a fun story.

Because yes, under no circumstances would substances like Death Sticks be permitted in the First Order. Or any dangerous mind altering substance for that matter. :p

This will be looked into. Can't have illegal products pass through our borders!

We'll see if we can't come to some sort of arrangement. Time to remember why "Security" is a part of our title.

Perhaps but how do you even know in the first place they're either a legitimate business or a syndicate?

It does sound interesting... but don't you think it's way too early to even consider this to be a majour threat to come to the attention of the First Order? I never even done anything that is remotely illegal in the First Order... yet.

I haven't had time to develop the Corporation and what they do. It's way too early to determine that this syndicate is even a threat or not. Apparently, they're obviously on the side of the First Order. They don't even produce death sticks. I don't think I've actually confirmed how much they have.

So okay, maybe not 100% decline but... you know... just slow down okay? I know you're all really eager to rp with me, and that's good but come on guys. I don't need a freaking 100 man army already on the case. Just... atleast one or two as a checkup? This should be a developing thing rather than a 100% crackdown. Come on...

The First Order are hungry for blood :p

I think it's just worth being aware that building an organisation in First Order space will come with its risks.

Virgillia also has the main base of the secretive Knights of Ren, and so even more reason the planet will be heavily watched and guarded.

[member="Wolf"] Son of a...

I never knew that until remembering.... Gahhh... I should delete the page so I wont immedetly attract attention. Because I haven't really fully established the trade company yet. So its not yet in open operation. So far, the only known contact that she has for this is on Commenor. But I'm not sure if they would take drugs on the streets honestly. Maybe the poor parts sure, but yeah...

Either or, I'm not really keen on this idea now. I sorta not wanna do this now, and just start off as a legal company and sell regular produce. Namely legal drugs and pharmaceuticals. Then once the people are fooled enough, emerge the drug trade. So yeah, I'm sorry for changing my mind so late in. You all probably hate me by now. I just mentioned this company for a while now, and none of you seemed to notice, so I though it would be good to rise it in secret. But suddenly, its discovered to be a drug syndicate? Really?

First Order pulled the trigger too early.

Regardless, [member="Charlotte Miraak"], if you do go down the path of making it a legitimate company with pharmaceuticals and such, I'd be willing to write up a contract with you.

Had been planning on expanding my own company into other avenues of business besides weapons.

However, with the risks of the First Order knowing, it might spark interests too in the government since the money does actually go back to paying the government to help with infrastructure and such for the planet.

So yeah, it might prove to be interesting. But as I said, can I atlesst heave time to develop my company so then, if it DOES become a problem, the security would be informed?

[member="Charlotte Miraak"]

I had no intention of sending an army, that I ensure you! Haha. And yes, I would rather see this develop as an rp than to simply excise you from the territory. After all, it is not without reason that, under a fascist regime, an underworld of illegal organizations operating under the auspices of nondescript legal companies can crop up. Such situations have happened throughout history (both Star Wars lore and real world history) and the First Order is no exception. Apologies if this was seen as jumping the gun or overzealous. Excitement and evilness and all that.

However, something to keep in mind: all business within the First Order is strictly regulated. Similar to the Galactic Empire, each planet has a regional governor that directly oversees all business incoming and outgoing, as well as domestically. That regional governor is a direct subordinate of other First Order officials (a Prefect that governs a sector and then a Moff who governs oversectors). Each would have knowledge of any legal business operation. And, as [member="Wolf"] pointed out... the Knights of Ren call Virgillia home (a location is in the process of being subbed and that will likely make it the mecca for their zealous workings). The world is not without other inhabitants but... well we can get into that later.

So, what I had in mind for our first thread was not to raze your operation to the ground. More just of a paperwork check. Making sure everything is in order and that at least whatever front your business puts on seems reputable enough. Depending on how the thread goes, seeds of doubt may be strewn, they may not.

Either way, please PM me and we'll go over plans!

[member="Charlotte Miraak"] Nobody is going to bulldoze you to the ground just yet. And there will be no handwaving - we will achieve any information on your company's under the table dealings through in-character means. That's why I contacted you in the first place so that we could get on the same page OOC and maybe write a story together.

You can have all the time you like to develop your company. But you should know that if and when you decide to involve your company in illegal drug trafficking, you will be making IC enemies with pretty much everyone in this faction, which will have IC consequences for both your character and the company. It doesn't matter if you don't personally manufacture the drugs or even if the money goes to supporting the First Order's infrastructure. Your company will be breaking the law and be seen as harmful to the social fabric of society for distributing illegal substances.

Okay that makes more sense actually. The intent of the company is namely to do anything to help with the poor parts of Virgilia's crumbling infrastructure and to help out homeless people in those areas on the planet (its okay to make that canon). I understand that I would make IC enemies if they do distribute illegal drugs, which is why I was thinking of doing this outside of FO space. That was the plan anyways. I know how strict the FO is. But will the company still be charged even if they sell drugs not in FO space or is it free game and they wont really know? That's just my question

Otherwise, that's all good to me honestly. Haha... I just got a little nervous that's all. But I see what you lot mean. I thought the FO would turn a blind eye. But it seems you were not kidding.

[member="Ludolf Vaas"] [member="Sentiri]

Besides, charlotte thinks she's just doing a patriotic duty for this. That's the whole point of the company. She really just supports her home planet above all else. And the FO too. Why wouldn't she? She supports their ideals.

But if she can't sell drugs at all regardless, then I'll probably stick to selling legal drugs approved by the government and produce.

[member="Charlotte Miraak"]

We'll get it at all straightened out.

Since the majority of Virgillia is a blank slate (because canon has next to nothing on the place), what you do with your chunk of it is up to you. Though I do recommend being far away from the Ren :p You may wish to sub the location you'll be using in the codex to make sure everybody else knows what you're talking about with all of these ideas.

As far as the economy goes, we operate on a fascist economic regime. So while each planet has a certain amount of autonomy on the local business level, the First Order still oversees all business transactions. So, while we promote private business (unlike communism) we still maintain a strict level of supervision at the government level.

[member="Sentiri"] Got ya.

And as for the poor parts, I'll get to work on that. I mean, I could help develop some of the areas on the codex. I imagine its a mix. I mean, if Chralotte grew up in a shady part of the planet, no doubt there's a ghetto somewhere. XD of course crime would be rampant. So yeah, it would make sense for the security bureau to be suspicious.

We shall see, [member="Orentho"]. We shall see. :p

Less ominous now: don't know yet. But I will be in contact with all First Order Security Bureau members regarding general function within the week. Not just in regards to this specific task.
