A Knyte to remember

Silver Rest, Kashyyk
1435 hours.

"Now just keep practicing those moves whenever you can. Remember, use your small frame to your advantage. I expect you to be a lot better next time we see each other!"

Gherron made his way out of the training grounds, having just tutored Eenia Vahn in some basic fighting skills, and feeling rather pleased with himself. When he was a padawan back on Tython, he would never in a million years have seen himself as a teacher. Yet here he was, passing on his knowledge to anyone who needed it. First with a class on alchemy, then in teaching his new padawan Kahlil a new weapon to add to his arsenal, and just now, helping young Eenia with her overall fighting prowess. He was definitely a different person than he had been several years back, and that was a good thing.

Among the bodies mulling about Kashyyyk, it was easy for the small ones to get separated from the big ones. And yet there was no panic, at least not from the small body.

Charlotte Knyte weaved her way easily through the legs of the people around her, which was impressive seeing as how she was still perfecting her balance. She could walk just fine, but get a little speed going? Well, more often than not her head ended up outweighing the rest of her. Didn't stop her from toddling along and stopping to make new friends. A fact which continued to be made true when she heard a particularly interesting voice.

It didn't take long for Lottie to make her way to this voice, and when she found it she approached with quiet curiosity and semi-wide eyes.

As Gherron continued his stride, his thoughts went to his son, Articus for a moment. He would be with one of the order's caretakers at the moment. Now that he was done with his lesson for the day, he would head over and grab the toddler, spending the rest of the day with him. It was as he was having these thoughts however, that another toddler hobbled up to him, staring up at him with the most beautiful eyes. Kneeling down with a smile of curiosity and slight concern, he looked back into her eyes for a moment.

"Hey there, little one. Where's your parents?"

Curiosity seemed to turn to a beaming smile when this stranger reacted to her. She didn't reach for him, or babble at him, or anything of the sort. Though the child seemed genuinely pleased to have someone new paying attention to her.

"Charlotte!" a familiar voice however seemed to catch the little girl's ears, and she half turned to face the direction it came from. And then she smiled all over again when the woman who had bellowed for her came into view.

"There you are!" Acadia groaned out, and she was quick to move forward and scoop the little girl up into her arms. "How do you do that?!" she asked, exasperated and clearly coming down from whatever mild heart attack she had just had. Her gaze then shifted to this person of interest her daughter had found, and her head shook just a tad. "I am so sorry if she bothered you. Those harness backpacks are absolutely useless..."

'Speak of the devil?'

As soon as he mentioned parents, a voice called out, and a woman about his age tore around the corner in a frenzy. Chuckling, he backed up to let momma bear scold her kid for a moment. He dealt with the same thing all too often with Articus, so he understood well.

"I am so sorry if she bothered you. Those harness backpacks are absolutely useless."

Gherron smiled and shook his head. "No no, don't apologize. I've got a little monster of my own, so I understand."

As he looked up at the woman, he stopped for a moment as he saw the necklace she wore. His face screwed up, as if trying to remember something.

"I'm sorry... That necklace looks really familiar..." Then it clicked into place. "Wait... Cadi?"

Acadia's head shook, and she took a moment to brush the brunette locks out of Charlotte's face as she looked the toddler over. She knew she wasn't hurt, she could tell that by the way she had found the girl and the smile that had been on her face. But it was her motherly and medical side taking over for that moment.

"I've tried everything..." she complained, and she shifted the tot from one hip to the other. "Eventually they'll make something to-"

She paused when this guy first mentioned her necklace and one of her hands automatically lifted to close her fingers around it. Cadi's brow creased a little, and she took a moment to look him up and down while the wheels very obviously turned. And then her brows lofted and her eyes widened. "Gherron?" she questioned him in return.

Her response was all Gherron needed to hear. His face broke into a smile as he reached over and hugged her.

"I can't believe it! How are you even here? I mean, it's been- H-how are you??" He was normally so clear and concise with his speech; everything thought out before it left his mouth. But now? His face reddened as he regressed back to that teenage boy back on Coruscant, tripping over his words and not knowing what to say. Finally, he took a breath and relaxed. "Acadia Knyte", he said, he face now a relaxed smile. "How've you been? Seriously, last time I saw you was... Right before my knighting ceremony." His voice faltered for a moment then. There were a lot of memories from back then, both good and bad.

The embrace was returned eagerly, and even little Charlotte leaned in and patted this man whom her mama apparently knew on his back while she had the chance to do so. When the pair drew apart, Acadia tucked loose strands of hair behind her ear, and her head shook as she took in the frame of this man who had once been quite possibly her dearest friend.

"My goodness, look at you!" she laughed, and her gaze lifted to his as he tripped over his words. It was nice to see that not all things changed so thoroughly with time, though when he asked how she was here, Cadi's smile faltered for just a moment.

Thankfully, he continued on and she didn't have to answer. At least not right now, and that was fine with her. "Hey now, none of that." she reached out and pushed playfully with the tips of her fingers against his forehead - something she used to do quiet often when they were younger. She knew there were good and bad times, throughout both of their pasts no less. But right now? "It has definitely been a minute." she could agree with that completely. "What are you doing here?" she asked even though she had yet to answer his questions, and once again she shifted Charlotte from one side to the other. "How long have you been here, or are you just passing through?"

Some part of her really hoped he wasn't just passing through.

Gherron couldn't possibly resist smiling whenever she did that thing with her hand. He couldn't remember exactly when she'd started it, but she had poked and prodded his forehead to get him to lighten up so much, it just kinda stuck. When she asked if he was just passing through, he chuckled at the irony there. Oh, if she only knew how many times in recent memory he had been just passing through. No, for once in his life he felt a stability that he'd never had before. And it was all thanks to his newfound family, both in the Silver Jedi, and in his brother and son.

"Actually, I'm part of the Silver Jedi; have been for a little while now. I was just on my way to pick up my son from his caretakers, if you wanna join me. He gets along with everyone. Speaking of, who's this adorable young lady?"

He turned his attention to Charlotte, his smile contagious as ever.

Acadia seemed to visibly relax when Gherron stated that he more or less had roots planted here. It would be nice to have someone she had history with around. Sure, she had made friends here on Kashyyyk, but it wasn't the same as having someone she had spent so much time with in her past around. When he went on to speak about his son, Cadi smiled warmly.

"Sure, we were just out to get some fresh air anyhow." she told him, and when he asked about the girl child, Cadi took one of her hands. "This," she emphasized and wiggled the girl's hand between her fingers. "Is my daughter Charlotte." she answered. "The most curious escape artist that ever was or ever will be."

Gherron smiled at Cadi's introduction of her daughter, chuckling a little. The little girl was adorable to be sure, though it only reminded him of what he was doing before he had ran into his old friend. "Well, I was actually on my way to pick my son up from the caretaker if you wanna join me. I'm sure you'll love him." He smiled once more at her, glad to have seen her after all these years.

Hearing that Gherron needed to go and pick up his own child made Acadia smile, and she nodded her head to him. "Yeah, I think we could probably do that." she stated, and she shifted Lottie in her grasp.

Once they were on their way, Cadi's gaze shifted from where they were going, back to Gherron. "So how old is your son?" she asked him curiously. She hadn't expected her childhood friend to have a kid of his own - and probably vice versa really - but it didn't surprise her any. Someone tying him down and making a father out of him really was the least surprising part of the situation.
