A Long Awaited Time

Commenor

A planet that I had never had the pleasure of seeing. However, it was the home of the girl I had once taken care of. It seemed forever ago when I had to leave. She was not happy with my choice as far as I was aware. It was the one mistake I have made in my life. The one I regretted. She had need of me, and all I did was leave her.

However, I painstakingly searched everywhere to find her.

I had thought about this. How I could come to her and say I am sorry. How I could just state that I was away to do something. I just hoped that she could forgive me. I had no clue what happened, and if anything bad happened to her...

Breathing in, I walked up to the estate that Queen Kay, owned. She had grown so much over the time I was gone. She seemed to be someone else entirely from what I had heard.

Standing well over two meters tall made me a behemoth of a man. I was intimidating to the guards who were standing at the front entrance.

In a very calm voice, I spoke to one or both of them.

"I am Kalyr Alor, and I wish to speak to Lady Kay on behalf of the Mandalorians."

Hopefully making it sound official would make it easier for me to get past these guards without a fight.

Kay raised a brow as Olivia stepped into her office. She was a kind old woman and the only one that she would let near her while she dressed. Something about her gentle manner put her at ease. And there was no alterior motive in her eyes other than to serve and help her Queen.

"There is a [member="Kalyr Alor"] from the Mandalorians outside the Palace wanting to speak with you. Should security let him in? Or are you expecting trouble?"

That name. Kay knew that name. She searched her memories and then smiled to herself as she remembered him. Truthfully she was quite pleased with herself in doing so. How was it that he wasn't stripped from her mind like many others? Maybe it was because she hadn't seen him in quite some time, years in fact. "No, no, let him in. It's fine. Have him brought straight here."

"Yes, M'Lady." Olivia wasn't so sure, but then she had always been the more cautious one between the two of them. The woman exited Kay's office and had word sent off to have the Mandalorian escorted to the Queen's office. Only the important people usually got sent there on a first visit. She hoped that this was for a good reason.

Meanwhile Kay prepared a couple of mugs of tea, eager to see her old bodyguard. The man was the first to watch over her after she came out of hiding following her late husband's death.

Standing there, Two of the guards had brought me into the lobby to wait. It was a moment that one of them left to report of my being here. The other, Had to look almost completely up in order to meet eye contact with my orange visor. Looking down at him, I held my hands at my side as the man looked me up and down.

"So uh... what do the Mando's feed you to make you so large?"
"Food."
"Oh..."

The man was surprised with the let down of me not telling him that in my past, I had been altered to be much taller, and grow for a much longer period of time than the average human. It was at that moment, that an older lady came in. Addressing me as "Mr. Alor" which made me crack a smile at the formality. When my name was already one.

She led me through the various halls with which I followed behind her. Coming to a room, She knocked on the door and then turned to me. Nodding her head, then leaving. Taking one last breath, I gingerly pushed open the door and took a few steps inside to see the woman. Lady Kay.

Part of me wanted to walk up and hug her as I knew that face. I knew who she was and glad she was safe, yet the other part of me wanted to stay back. Unsure of what she still thought of me.

"Lady Kay, Its been a while."

Kay was just pouring the water into the cuos when her door was knocked upon and opened. Right away she turned to look and just stared for a moment as [member="Kalyr Alor"] stepped in. He still worse his helmet and she had wondered if he was now taller than she had remembered? At some point she'd have to get him and [member="Macoda Haberon"] to stand side by side to see who was taller.

After that moment of thought, she smiled and walked over to him. He knew her secret. Would he see the faint speckles of corruption that still remained in her eyes? Would he see the effects of torture and being broken on her face? Or would he still see the lady that was full of hope that he used to watch over? She'd find out soon enough.

"Hello....I hope that you've been well and hadn't forgotten about me." And it was good to see that he was still alive.

I breathed a moment as we just stood there. She finally said hello as I took a few steps closer. I relaxed a little when the question of me remembering her came to my ears. My head bowed a little as I grew near enough to her to almost reach out and touch her.

"Of course. The force user I met so long ago seems to have grown up though."

Part of me wanted to know everything of what happened. But, there was one little twinge in my heart that wanted me to not ask. Almost as though the force was once again trying to break through to show me what it was like to be a force user. She felt... dark? Almost as though she had been through hell to get here. I pushed away those thoughts for now. No need to doubt her.

"I hope that you have been well without my assistance?"

I knew she was likely in a few tight situations where I could have helped, or at least been better off if I had been there, but I didn't want to dwell on it too much. I might blame myself for not protecting her. I had vowed to aid her. And I left her. It still hurt, but I needed to move past that.

Kay gave [member="Kalyr Alor"] a small smile. Oh yes, she had grown up. But not because she had wanted to. So much had happened in such a short time, most especially with being held captive not once, but three times, the last being the worst, she had no choice but to let go of her trusting nature. Now there was far too much at stake. "I have. But I had to. So many rely on me now...."

What elements he may have heard, she didn't know. People had ways of keeping track of her without her knowing. But at his next question, that made her believe that she was wrong.

Still he kept his helmet on, so she couldn't read his eyes, nor see the expression on his face. And with the way that he kept himself out of reach, it made her wonder if he wanted to keep her at a distance. He surely wouldn't be the first to want to stay away from her, nor would he be the last. That in itself made her sad.

"I've had my good days...and bad days. No different from anyone else really." Or so she figured. Didn't others get into trouble as much as she did? Surely she wasn't the only one that was a magnet for it...

Kay picked up a cup of tea and held it out to him. "What about yourself? And did you want any tea?" Sapir tea was her crutch, her comfort, her security blanket. It was always there when people were not. Even her husband-to-be had a habit of disappearing without a word, more so to protect her from danger than anything else. But at least she had her tea.

"I've missed having you around. I hope that this isn't just a short visit." There was so much that she wanted to show him and people that she wanted him to meet. But something told her that he had no desire to stay put.

There were a few people who I rarely trusted. Only a few have seen my face since I have left the galaxy. Even Kay has not seen my face. Yet, I trusted her completely. But, I just couldn't bring myself to show her. I still do not know why even now. I closed my eyes behind my helmet and opened them when I was offered tea. Shaking my head simply, I was glad that she seemed to be okay, but I just had the inkling that she wasn't quite herself. As though her mind was stuck on something.

My head was still bowed and I was staring into nothing when I brought it up to look at her face when she asked if this was just a short visit. Even she could hear the sigh that came from my lips before I put words to my voice to answer her.

"I am not sure."

Reaching behind me, I pulled out a holodevice. I didn't activate it, but the emblems of the Mandalorians clans were emblazoned upon the surfaces. Everything from the Fett Clan, to the universal symbol, Deathwatch, and even the United Clans. Handing it to her, This device could always connect to me.

"I will be available to speak, but I need to reach my people. I will stay here for as long as I can before I must travel to see what has become of my vode. Once that is done, I will return."

I hated doing this. I hated the fact that I had to leave her again, but it was choosing between the families that I had. The culture I grew up in, or the one I made for a short time with Lady Kay. However, I knew I would return here. I knew I would be back. The problem was, I would have to find a balance between my Mando'ade family, and the one I had with Lady Kay, and possibly people that she now had with her.

"I promise."

Kay didn't think that [member="Kalyr Alor"] would want the tea, yet she felt it better to be polite and ask anyways. As he refused, she brought the cup to her own lips and had a sip, letting the hot liquid sooth her as it always did. She was almost preparing herself for an emotiinal situation.

His sigh and the words that followed let her know to not expect much. But then who could really plan out their days anyways? Even her own days, structured with a schedule, was hard to plan to the minute and be able to stick with it. Kay couldn't fault him for that.

She looked to the holodevice that was handed to her, holding it in her free hand while she stared at the emblems. An expert would notice her body stiffening a little. It wasn't quite out of fear so much as it was uncertainty. The lapses in her memory prevented her from knowing why she had the instinct of being very uncomfortable around the Clans. And that annoyed her greatly. She remembered being betrayed by them. A brokered truce of which she had given all of her credits for, had lost her job in the Senate for, all of that was for naught as they went back on their word and attacked anyways. But there was more. She just couldn't remember.

Kay sipped her tea, letting it comfort her while she looked up to her old bodyguard while he spoke. He refrained from saying anything about his time away from her, avoiding it altogether. There had to be a reason for that. Yet she didn't pressure him.

"We have an Embassy here, for the Raxis clan and others...And their small territory isn't far from my own here. So that when you do go, it hopefully won't be for long. I'll be getting remarried soon and I...I would really like for you to be there to see it." Kay looked up to him with a small smile, yet her eyes said so much more. He looked after her so well in the past. She wanted him to see that it wasn't all for naught. His help and protection was very much appreciated. He was very much appreciated.

Hearing of the embassy made my hopes of staying here a little longer heighten. I nodded my head with the confirmation of such a place here. It would allow me some kind of communication with them. The problem with that, is reports I had learned of Mandalore, and its... destruction. Either way, I needed to see it for myself. A place where I could go to find out why this happened. It would be a small visit there, otherwise, I will do what I can here.

With the news of Kay being remarried, I raised my head a little and took a step forward almost as though I were proud of her, yet was wanting to make sure it was true. Coming forward that one step,

"Married? Congratulations are in order."

Still my protective instincts kicked in. I wanted to search every possible outlet about this individual. I wanted to make sure this person wasn't going to treat Kay as just any other woman. The way that I had found her before, losing her husband... I didn't want to see her in that state again. Yet, I wasn't her bodyguard, nor her father. I couldn't interfere in her life any more than I should.

"I will be there. To see you at your worst, and now on your perfect day, I would be honored to even attend."

I'd likely have to stand in the back, or find a place where I could stand without people bothering me. I was not likely going to dress up in some suit. Nor did I think I was going to show my face to those there. Armor can look nice right? I removed that from my mind for now and moved over to something else on my mind.

"I know I may have a family elsewhere, but I would... like to be in your service again. If you do not mind that."

I then thought about it. She already had guards, and likely an entire army at her back, as well as a husband who could take care of her anyways. I shook my head back and forth.

"Forgive me, I realize that you already have people to do that."

[member="Kalyr Alor"] stepped forward. He was within reach now. She smiled and bowed her head as he congratulated her. "Thank you." Her expression brightened as he acknowledged that he'd attend her wedding. Still she had no idea of when it would take place and there were so many details to go through. She wanted to make it comfortable for [member="Veiere Arenais"] and herself. They would love to run away and elope, but duty wouldn't allow that. As Queen, there were many expectations for her. Marriage was a big one.

She sipped her tea and then furrowed her brows as it seemed that he was asking her for a job. It took her a moment to even answer him and in that time he seemed to already back out on the suggestion. Kay stepped forward, decreasing the distance between them even further. "You've never left my service. You've just been away. You're always welcome here. You'll never be turned away." Unless of course he went crazy and went on a murdering spree. If that happened she'd have to jail him. And it wasn't as though he was ever going to put her in harm's way.

With her free arm, she took another step forward and closed the gap betwen them, wrapping the arm around him in a hug, being mindful to not spill her tea. "You have family here too."

I was a little... surprised to say that Kay attached herself to me in a hug like fashion. I didn't expect it, but it did feel nice. I felt good when behind held by this woman. At first I had my arm up to not batter the woman on accident, but slowly I lowered my arm to wrap around her. She seemed to say, and accept me as a defender of her and her people. I was perfectly fine with that, but I didn't want to be over protective. Part of me wanted to become her personal body guard once more, but the other part of me understood that she needed her space, and needed to allow others to learn.

This wasn't a job for me. This was a personal matter. One that I had to come to terms with. Kay accepted me as her family, and that was all that I needed at the moment.

"Its not a service, Kay. You are not a job opportunity."

Taking that in mind, I let my arm hang onto her side.

"I am happy to be of your family."

Kay smiled as [member="Kalyr Alor"] agreed with her. How to explain this one to [member="Veiere Arenais"] , she wasn't sure. But maybe he'll be glad for the added protection.

She held the hug for a moment longer and then stepped back so that she could look at him better. "Do you need a place to stay? I have spare rooms here if you'd like. Or the Embassy could have room for you, if you'd prefer."

Kay sipped her tea. She had a million questions and even more things to talk to him about. But she didn't want to disappoint him either. "I've been doing my best to stay out of trouble. Or rather I haven't gone looking for it in quite some time." Trouble came to her though. "What has kept you busy?"

I was glad that she hugged me. It felt nice, and I longed for it as she broke away from me. As she went to look up at me and offer a place to stay, I raised my hand up and shook my head. There was no need for me to inconvenience her, or her people. I have lived in my ship for years before the lady was even born. I can last a few more nights, or just find a simple hotel here that accepted the use of weapons. Or I could just get the approval of the Queen to carry weapons with me. Some kind of reregistration form, or a badge maybe?

"I can't do that Kay. I have to say a bed would be nice, but going from the ground to a bed would ruin my back."

Merely a joke, but the meaning was true. I didn't want to live in a lavish life style. Never liked it. Down to earth, and loved the outdoors anyways. Hell, half the time I was in my ship, I was sleeping on the floor instead of the bed. Just the way I was built. Rugged. Even as Kay sipped on her tea, I could only find it funny that of all things she could have gotten a crutch on, it was a drink. To be truthful, when I was anxious for a fight that would be happening, I used to dismantle my rifle and put it back together. Everyone is different.

As Kay spoke of trying to stay out of trouble, I knew that trouble would find her. She always was one for having it around her. Hence why I protected her in the first place. But then the question I dreaded came up. Why was I busy? I had to explain this to her. And she might not accept it, but it was true.

"At a young age, My father was considered an outcast among the Mandalorian people. He was thrown out. Last reports were putting him in otherspace. Outside of the galaxy. I went to investigate and found him, or what was left of him."

I bowed my head and shook it.

"He was trying to find a new place where outcasts could live, but failed. So I returned."

Kay openly sighed as [member="Kalyr Alor"] refused her offer of a place to stay. She mumbled under her breath. "..You don't have to sleep in a bed. There's more than enough space in the rooms to sleep on the floor..."

As he told his story about his father's fate, Kay placed her hand on his forearm. She knew what it was like to lose people. Yet her own experiences with her Father were extremely limited. He hated her for being a Force user. That was enough for him to abandon her. After learning of him and her Mother, Loreena on a planet known simply as the Graveyard, she eventually stumbled upon him in First Order space. After letting him know who she was, he demanded that she tell no one of their connection and in return, he allowed her to walk free, rather than have her executed.

"I'm sorry for your loss and that you weren't able to do what you set out to do." She didn't go into any of her stories. There weren't many good ones, outside of hopes for a better future. Still she feared that Veiere would change his mind about marrying her, no matter how many times he tried to reassure her. She had secrets that she didn't want him or anyone to know. It would just get them all angry.

"I hope that my wedding doesn't bore everyone. I....actually don't even know who'll be officiating it..." Kay just blinked as the thought hadn't occured to her at all until now. Oh boy...
