Character
A Naval Awakening
For the first time in years, Shan Pellian actually felt nervous.
He had stood resolute in the face of overwhelming odds. Stared down the barrel of boarding parties without wavering and piloted a starfighter through the torments of an asteroid field to prove a point. None of that had made Shan as nervous as today. Months of work had gone into laying the foundation of todays events, and Shan had to rely on the skill and ability of others to ensure that it went ahead smoothly. He had drawn up the plans, made the logistic requests and reports, but it had been the hands of others that laid the final bricks on the path to this day.
He adjusted the gloves he wore again, a nervous habit he had picked up. He sat on a stage constructed at the entrance of the Rae Sloane Imperial Naval Academy, the main training center for the future Diarchy Naval recruits. From this walls of this facility thousands of young men and women would be trained to not only succeed in combat, but excel. They would become the tip of the spear in the Diarchy's Final War, the near prophesied galactic conflict to end war once and for all. Shan did not know if he personally believed it to be possible, but he was committed to the Diarchy, and he would do all he could to see that day come.
A thundering vibration echoed across the gathering assembly as three Acclamator Class Assault Ships, some of the first ships designed solely for usage by the Diarchy, did a flyover of the Academy behind them. Each ship was painted a deep black, with golden stripes running along the underside of the vessels. In their wake, dozens of TIE Ravagers flew in flights of a dozen craft, each one trailing red and gold smoke.
It was almost time.
Shan turned to find the Diarch's, the two brothers united in leading their nation. They had naturally been invited up to the main stage along with the other senior officials of the Diarchy. They had been given their own chairs away from the main mass on the platform, and Shan gave them a brief nod as he rose, and began to walk to the podium set at the front of the stage. He took a moment to look out over the assembling crowd. Most of them were Diarchy citizens; nobility and influential individuals who had come to witness the opening of the Academy. Others were common men and women, loyal citizens who had taken a day to come witness the future of Bastion. A few were foreign dignitaries and interested parties, welcome with an open invitation for this day.
There were so many.
Coming to a stop before the podium, Shan adjusted the mic that had been placed there. Turning, he gestured for the Diarch brothers to come stand beside him, and waited for them before he would begin.
