A New Concept for Tracking Promotions

The darkness lays ever near the light.
So - I've been mulling over and thinking about the ideas [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] and [member="KeCholo"] had during the FO election and I decided that I would expand upon them and come up with a more refined idea that could easily be implemented.

So. The idea I've come up with will allow all of our Jedi keep track of when they should (roughly) be promoted and also serve as 'bonus points' for when a vote is ongoing for a Master Rank Promotion. It allows people to see (and show off) how much they are contributing to the faction and the board as a whole.

There would be a thread on the factions (similar to the Master Rank Promotion Thread Tracker that [member="Arisa Yune"] set up) that FUs would post to and update regularly that tracks their 'Midichlorian Count'. Their Midichlorian Count will start at an agreed upon amount corresponding to their force rank. E.g. A Padawan would start at a Midichlorian count of 0, etc.

In order to increase this Midichlorian Count a writer must complete objectives and challenges that each equal to a certain amount of points. These points are decided by the difficulty of the objectives.

Once a Character has reached a certain amount of Midichlorians they will have the option of promotion to the next rank. In the case of a Master Rank Promotion - they can contact the Faction Staff to set up a Promotion Vote thread.

Once they are Masters - writers can still continue to increase their Midichlorians - simply to show off and increase their power!

So guys - tell me what you think. Any questions? Criticism? Anything to add? Comment down below!

It is a neat concept to keep track of it with a point system. That is the positive side of it I can see of it. The negative however is I see it makes it more of a point system rather more about development. A person could have a high midichlorain count and still be a Padawn as we seen with in the cannon stories. If we implement this it will take away another option writers have for doing story arcs. I still think it is a neat idea but still I think it is taking freedom of writing away from those who may wish to do a story line based on midichlorain count.

[member="Darren Torran"] I think the current promotion system is fine. What I always looked for was participation within the faction, character development (as it pertains to becoming a Jedi), and OOC conduct. I think it's best we maintain our flexibility and not go to a points system.

The Midichlorian Count will simply be a point system - it has nothing to do with a characters actual IC Midichlorian Count. It's a way of making points sound more immersive and inkeeping with the SWU.

Thanks for the input! Though I was thinking that it wouldn't be mandatory - but something to personally keep track of when you feel you should be promoted - and for Bonus Points for Master Promotion Votes.
