A New Master (Togashi Yokuni)

[member="Togashi Yokuni"]

Doing what he does best, James was scaling the Inquisitor Temple for a view of the Empire he had missed. His emperor was revealed to be alive after months he'd thought he'd lost his leader. Now James was back and ready to continue his training, but this time with a new master.

With the events that happened surrounding the Emperor’s death the citadel was still very quiet. With the minor revolt, and yes Yokuni viewed it as a minor revolt, he found it distasteful. The ancient Artisian had a hard time understanding, he had a hard understanding the young Artisain’s view about Force Users.

There was a time when the populace respected monks who followed the path of the Force or their counter parts the Artisain spell casters. Very few knew of the Emperor still being alive. It was not just to protect him but protect the future as well.

Those thoughts were just a foreshadow upon his mind as he sat there towards the top of the citadel. He was for the moment just looking out over the spindled view. It was a calm peaceful day. The sun high in the sky. Very few puffs of white clouds, nothing major they were very few in number. Exotic birds flying through the sky gleefully chirping. The land, dark green grass, pink cherry blossoms, it was a beautiful spring days. It brought a warm joy to his heart, a reminder of his youth.

“Welcome”, Yokuni greeted the young man [member="James Mathison "],who had just made his way to the top of the citadel. “It is a lovely day, is it not?”

As he pulled himself up to the top of the citadel, he felt the presence of a master. He peered over the edge as he sat on the ledge he just scaled, "indeed it is a nice day sir."

James had never met this master before but he was willing to learn from everyone. He'd been recently training with the Sith Amazonian, Praelior. He now sought to extend his abilities and fighting skills.

"A pleasure to meet you sir..."

The Lord of the Togashi Clan looked over the young man [member="James Mathison "]. Trying to place if he had seen this young man before and if he had if there was some reason he knew why this young man would be here. Nothing came to recent memory and he certainly did not know this young man from the past. “So what brings you to the citadel today?”

"Well, I am supposed to be meeting my new trainer, after the Emperor died, I left to find knowledge elsewhere. I have since returned at the Emperor's request and wish to learn more so I can better protect the emperor."

James stood up on the ledge and looked down, he saw the people below and and wondered what they were thinking about the Empire growing again.

It seemed quite a few were returning. Not everyone’s circumstance was the same. Still Yokuni was left holding a great deal of responsibility. The Grand Inquisitor had left the Empire and the Emperor is believed to be dead. Luckily his clan had some stability within it. For nine hundred and sixty five years he had lead the clan.

“Yes, welcome fellow Inquisitor”, it seems now the lessons would begin. “Do be careful who you speak to that the Empire is still alive. Very few know of this secrete while I train him. It will be up to me to train you as well. Lets begin with a test of your knowledge on our order. Please tell me what you remember. What is the purpose and function of the Imperial Inquisition?”

@James Mathison

"I mean no harm, I merely am expressing my excitement. As far as knowledge of the order, I know not what we are for. I was trained for combat, nothing more. I am what some would call an 'asset' not a true member. I spent my first months here protecting the Emperor and in the original Fringe invasion, I was tasked with disabling the Fringe artillery and command structure. You may have read reports on loosing several units to sabotage and a few officers died behind friendly lines. That was me."

"Recently I've tamed a leviathan, and been lurking in the network of the One Sith order."

[member="Togashi Yokuni"]

Interesting, was a word spun but only whispered within Yokuni’s own mind. It was a private thought about what he just heard. It seemed this young man lacked the information of the order he was in. He also had been lurking in the One Sith Order. Yet somehow, someone trusted [member="James Mathison "]enough with the knowledge the Emperor was still alive.

“One thing that as been a tradition no matter what Force User Order you’re in a Master or a Elder trains you. Who was your last Master in the Imperial Inquisition and do you have a Master within the One Sith”, it was possible his Master within the Imperial Inquisition may have died or left the order.

"My prior master was one Rexus Drath. He trained me initially. Though in the One Sith, I have been training under Darth Praelior, an Amazonian of a woman and tons of power to coincide."

James figured that he not knowing about the Order and that he was part of the biggest faction of murderers in the galaxy may put off Master Yokuni.

“I see”, he did not say if he approved or disproved of anything yet. It was Yokunis job here to guide [member="James Mathison "]. “I know of Rexus. What skills have you learned under his guidance and Darth Praelior’s?”

James sat down, legs crossed, in front of Togashi.

"Under Rex, I learned Mind Trick, Force Fear, Minor Telepathy, Force Suppression and Force Cloak. Under Praelior I am learning combative tactics without the use of a lightsaber, and if you can see, I have none."

James gestured to his belt, no cylinder was to be seen, just his vibrosword.

As Yokuni sat there listening. It was not that he was emotionless. He was calm, yet did not over show anyone emotion. This young man was not the first Yokuni had thought. If the elder Togashi had kept score of how many people he had trained it was in the hundreds. Many of the older generations of Sith that lived today. There were taught by the generations that Yokuni trained. That means much of of what he would be doing with [member="James Mathison "]would be repetitive. There was something about that, that left Yokuni jaded. “Yes there is potential here and you have much room for improvement. Tell me what drives you. Do you see yourself more then a mercenary? Where do you see yourself years from now and if there is skills you do not possess that you wished you had, what would they be?”

"I have no driving force behind me. Except for the Emperor. I fight because I must, and learn because it helps me fight. What I wish to learn are Negating powers, to counter anything an enemy would throw at me."

James shifted slightly to move his knives from digging into his ribs, the. He flexed his arms and the extendable blade shot out then retracted.

It was good for a Master to seek who their new student is and what goals they may have. It was wise to do this because each student has different needs and what if Master and student had different goals? “You seek to serve and you seek a perfect defense to use those skills to defend the one you serve. Young man at this moment it does seem more like a interview. That is because it is. As your Master I must get to know you and see where you are as a student to get a greater understanding of what you need to grow. I also have to make sure we have similar goals. I not saying your being dishonest. I just wanted to make sure you know if your incorrect at all it will inhibit me from properly training you. If I do not know of a problem I can not fix it.”

[member="James Mathison "]

"So when do we start then, Master?"

James honestly didn't care if Togashi shared his goals, or approved of James'. He just wanted to train, and eventually be able to take on stronger foes for the Empire.

[member="Togashi Yokuni"]

It all just seemed so wrong. Not James as Yokuni did see potential within the young man. It was the Inquisition, or the way the order had conducted itself. There was a lack of real order and Yokuni was unsure for the reasons for the order. It was clear James may not know the real purpose of the Inquisition. If he knew he would have gave a text book or close to a text book answer goals shared by the order.

“We’ve already started”, Yokuni looked over James to see how the young man reacted to that news. “So far this was a lose surprise test. The only right answers is if you were honest about yourself. The Jedi and the Sith have their own methods. The Witches of Dathomir have their own method. The Imperial Inquisition have their own methods. All different paths. What is the right path? All paths with one similar goal. It is a path of spiritual enlightenment that brings the user closer to the understanding of the Force. The very object of this surprise test is to see if your mind wishes to seek this understanding for what it truly is. If there is a mantra you follow, what is it?”

@James Mathison

The proposed questioned was not what he'd have expected, 'why does he wish to learn', James had not the answer. He was acting on instinct most of the time. Whatever felt to be right to him at the moment. He didn't wish to feel that his reasons were inadequate so he couldn't quite figure what to say. He let the words flow from his lips without filter...

"I have not ever thought of what I do anything for. When I was young it was for survival, after the fall of the Emperor, it was survival again, recently it was to gain knowledge for the sake of knowing. But now I have no goals, no purpose, no reasons."

[member="Togashi Yokuni"]

Yokuni sat there looking at @James Mathison. It was a few moments of silence as the elder gathered his thoughts. “So you are a man with no meaning and no direction. You only survive to live another day. Do you not wish more that? A man without a goal in life is a man with no true purpose. Do you not wish to have something that would give your life meaning?”

James contemplated his masters proposal, it was worth trying. Having meaning would make his training worth it and give him something to strive for.

"I would like purpose. To have a reason to continue. What can you give me Master Togashi?"
