A Padawan's First Steps (Kian Karr)

Yavin IV, Jedi Temple

The ever so common shower of rain had resumed once again over the Jedi Temple on the planet of Yavin IV, most of the outside classes having been taken inside the temple while some stayed outside. The reasoning for some to stay outside would be "Rain is but a distraction, and we will always work in a world filled with distractions." Besides the point, a Kel Dor Padawan, Kon, had removed himself from a group lesson for this day with a Jedi Master that was also a Kel Dor, Master [member="Kian Karr"] . Kon was happy with the thought to see another Kel Dor after leaving his home planet, for he had seen little Kel Dors at this Jedi Temple. Kon had awaited in the Courtyard outside the Jedi Temple, sitting on his legs, meditating in the rain as he awaited for the Jedi Master to arrive.

Kian's hood was up over his head shielding him from the rain and he watched for a time wondering why Kon Uulon, the young Kel Dor who had contacted him for training, had decided to meditate out in the rain drops. He supposed he had certainly seen stranger things at the various Jedi Academies, though this was the first time Kian had come to Yavin IV to instruct a student.

"You might catch a cold out here." Kian said walking up, his arms sheathed within his sleeves to keep him dry.

"Hello Kon, I am Kian." Kian said bowing his head at the young man. It had been some time since Kian had seen another Kel Dor Jedi at any of the academies and he was glad to be meeting with the man. Kian hadn't been back home since the attack on Dorin by the One Sith.

Once the Jedi Master, [member="Kian Karr"] , arrives, the Kel-Dor places the palm of his hands flat on the ground as he lifts himself up off the ground enough to where he can have his feet touch the ground before he pushes himself up to his feet before bowing before the Jedi Master. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Master Kian. I was out here in the rain, meditating, to teach myself how to block out distractions. Though I supposed I should've chosen a better choice of attire for this." Kon says before looking down at his damp clothing. He then stands upright once more, speaking once more as he says, "Shall we go inside, Master Kian?"

For a moment, Kian almost kept them both out in the rain, to push home the importance of wearing the proper attire for an environment. But Kian wasn't as harsh an instructor as perhaps some might think.

"Of course." Kian said turning and leading the other Kel Dor into the Academy. Kian glanced around as they entered and was glad to see the place full of students once again.

"And did it work?" Kian asked, glancing sideways at the man. "Did it teach you to block out distractions?" Kian asked and wondered how much older the Kel Dor was then he. He certainly wasn't as young as Kian had been when he came to the Jedi. He wondered if the man had spent time among the Baran Do before coming to the Jedi or if he had traveled a different route to the Jedi than Kian had.

The Kel Dor, Kon, follows [member="Kian Karr"] into the filled Academy, standing out due to his damp clothing, but Kon didn't seem to mind stand out. Like he wasn't already with the mask and goggles.

After being asked how well the self-teachings were, Kon shakes his head. "I have yet to find success in my own training, Master, but perhaps this is expected from a Padawan, whom is still eager to learn and keeps having fantasies of what the future holds for him or herself." Kon didn't question himself much about Master Kian, but only what made him leave Dorin and made him decide how he wanted to become a Jedi. Kon couldn't help but ask his questions as the walked, his curiosity having to be cured as he asks, "Master Kian, what is it that made you leave Dorin and made you realize you had a desire to become a Jedi? If you don't mind me asking that is."

Kian considered the question for a moment, running his hand over his antiox mask as if it were a beard. The circumstances....at least the true circumstances...in which Kian had left Dorin were known to only a select few and while he held no ill-will toward the Kel Dor, he certainly wouldn't share the true story, but nor did he wish to keep too much from the man either.

"I left Dorin after spending much of my life training with the Baran Do. When my mother died, I felt like all my ties to the place were cut." Kian said, realizing that it was a strange thing to admit. When Kian's had lost his family, he no longer felt like Dorin was his home.

"I wanted to see more of the galaxy and spent a time traveling." Kian said, "But that was not a satisfying role to play and I eventually found myself among the Jedi on Tython." Kian remembered the day fondly, when he'd first come to the Jedi Order. "They were very welcoming and I quickly found myself greatly enjoying the training and the philosophy."

"How was it you came to be among the Jedi?"

Kon nodded as he silently listened to Master Kian tell his story before himself being brought into deep thought. Kon had no real reason for wishing to become a part of the Jedi Order, but it just felt right. He didn't want to offer the Master a unsatisfactory answer, but he also didn't want to offer no answer at all.

"Mmm...To be honest, Master Kian, I do not know what caused me to come here. Back on Dorin, it just felt like every day was the same, along with that I always had a heart for exploration. After I left Dorin, I felt empty, feeling that even with exploration there wasn't enough. I had the want to learn things, and by coming here I had done just that."

Kian nodded along with the young man's story as to how he came to be among the Jedi. There were so many ways in which students came to join the Jedi, some tragic and some perfectly docile.

"So, Kon." Kian said leading them into a training room. "What was it you wished to be trained in?" Kian asked. Kian had received the request to aid in training through the Jedi Academy Network and had agreed knowing that, with the Jedi spread thin across the galaxy, there were often students in need of training. Plus, the chance to interact with a fellow Kel Dor was something Kian had certainly looked forward too.
