A Peaceful Night

Chroma Zed

A tear streamed down Sophia's face as she sat on the edge of the water. The only thing that seemed to keep the woman sane now a days was her work. Her personal life had gone to shit and now she was left here alone. She couldn't be more proud of her little girl but she missed her terribly. It was good though that she was out there getting the training that she not only wanted but very much needed.

Sighing Sophia wiped the tears from her eyes silently scolding herself for crying in the first place. She knew first hand that crying wouldn't solve any of her issues nor would burring her head in her work though it was what she was doing lately. Another sigh escaped her lips as she laid back in the sand and closed her eyes. The sound of the ocean was something she always found peaceful and it helped her relax. She needed to relax more like she was doing now.

"You doin' alright, lady? It's Walsh, right? The Admiral's daughter?"

There'd been a time he'd trained Templars on Chroma Zed, and the place still had all kinds of nostalgia for him. He couldn't remember for the life of him if it'd been one of the many worlds he'd helped add to the Confederate fold during his time here. He wore no armor today, just civilian clothes, carried nothing but the one long-handled sabre. Business casual sort of deal.

"Tell me if I'm intrudin' though," he added, as he came down to the water's edge and looked out over the seascape.

Opening her eyes she sat up a little as she was addressed. It had been quite awhile since someone had recognized her as the admiral's daughter. Normally people knew her as Viceroy however she didn't mind that not being the first thing coming to his mind. It was in truth a breath of fresh air.

"Yes, I am. It's been a long time since I have been recognized as that. I'm Sophia," she smiled sitting all the way up. "I apologize, I don't think I know you." She had come here to get away from work and people but she didn't mind company. Sophia didn't plan on getting into her work with him anyway. "Your not intruding, I was just relaxing after a long day."

He'd raised five children, including two daughters; he knew when not to comment on tears, at least as well as any man ever could.

"Ember Rekali." Maybe his name had stuck around here, maybe not -- the one who'd taught Alestrani physical enhancement and Denko his Djem So. There was even a chance that dipclart Serian Loria had made him a wanted man in the last month or so, but then again he knew few who took Loria seriously. Ember took a seat by the water's edge, looped his arms around his knees, stared out over the sea.

"Figured I'd spend some time down by the ocean, do me some good. Too much to think about, after Druckenwell."

"That war was a mess and now it's got the citizens of Chroma Zed worried that we will be attacked. It's a mess over here and I don't agree with the way things were handled. I just needed a break from the politics so I came here."

Sighing she looked out at the peaceful water for a second. Sophia wished that everything could be different and that everything hadn't turned out in the totally messed up way it had. The war was only part of everything that was wrong with her situation.

"The water, it's really peaceful. It makes me forget about everything if only for a few minutes."

"Aye, that's the hope."

For a long moment or two he pondered taking off his boots, walking in the water.

"As far as Chroma Zed goes, guaranteed it's low on the Protectorate priority list. Maybe cutting Confederate supply lines at Tarsunt or the Mara, but if I was Cater, I'd be gunning for Krant, Zhar, even a long strike at Gamorr. But I'm not Cater, nor do I know how the Protectorate does business, at least not really. I do know that they're not the sort for mass destruction, if that sets your mind at ease some. Military targets only." He adjusted his seat on the sand. "No, if anyone hits Chroma Zed, it'll be for what Velok stole from the Jedi. The Healing Crystals of Fire, the Sar Agorn holocron, some other odds and ends. Word's out among the Jedi that the Confederacy has been hiding their property here. Fool move on Josiah's part, keeping those things. Made all of us complicit, and that'll bite us."

"If they want the things that were taken from him I would just given them back if I knew where Josiah was. It's been a very long time since I have heard from him." Sighing she shook her head a few times. She was so confused right now about everything but really with him gone it didn't matter. It wasn't as if he ever had time for her as it was.

"I just don't want the citizen's hurt but if the Jedi want something back they are more than welcome to have it back. I could even help them find it. I don't want bad blood between us and the Jedi.

She knew that she ought to speak to the actual leaders of the confederacy about this but right now she didn't much care. If this kept Chroma Zed safe than she was all for it.

Ember gave a slow blink and pointed off to his left, about forty-five degrees. A handful of miles away, the old Templar citadel, the Knights Obsidian facility, reared up through the clouds. "They're right in there. Healing Crystals of Fire, Sar Agorn holocron, Tascollan holocron. The crystals are too big to walk out with easily -- I heard once that some fallen Jedi Padawan tried stuffing them in his robes to steal'em, kid musta gained twenty pounds. The Tascollan holocron is peanuts, just a review of sabre forms. The Sar Agorn holocron, though, that one's a serious treasure an' a loss the Jedi won't soon forget. If you're serious about giving it back, who knows what it'll do to the big picture, but as someone who bled for the Confederacy, my guess is it'll make this world safer, by a lot. 'Course, then you've got to decide which Jedi group to give it to. There's five or so. Which ones you know about?"

He snorted. "Feth, even those heartstone amulets they gave out to Force knows what subset of the Templars -- those were made from the Healing Crystals of Fire, stolen property. I never got one, not my area, but wouldn't have taken one if they'd offered. Not knowing where they came from like I done."
