A Quantum Rip...

[member="Sunny"]

Location: Orbit of Void Station

Space, the final frontier.

The Crop Duster, now battered and dirty from Ellies recent rips was circling the space station. Beside the young girl in her Co-Pilot chair was Sunny, a girl she'd just met and hired on for a short haul to Kessel. The plan? Someone on Kessel wanted to outfit a certain select group of prisoners with commlinks.

Ellie was a delivery girl first, explorer second, so she'd accepted the contract.

As the stars faded and Void station grew smaller she pushed a stray hair from her face, eyes reading over her navigation charts. There was a lot of potential routes, and even some that were off the books so to speak. For something as innocuous as this however Ellie reasoned taking a haul on the Mara Corridor would be just fine. she plugged the coordinates of the drop point in and smiled, turning to Sunny.

"Well we just met so I barely know anything about you. My names Eliza Raxis, and I'm a delivery girl, but you already knew that. And I know your name, so.."

She paused, flipping every seventh switch on the banks above her head and settling down into the seat, seeking a comfortable position.

"Tell me something I don't know. Where ya from, what's your hobbies?"

The Crop Duster began to burn, engines firing full bore and they ripped away towards their jump point.

This was not the sort of job Sunny usually took. Not that jobs were really her priority. But only one other person, and not one who seemed overly interested in bed-games thus far. Still, Void Station had gotten boring, and currently had an oppressive air about it. That sort of thing could wear on a Zeltron. Easier to just move on. Besides, Eliza had seemed stable and friendly enough, so while it was a bit of a gamble, they'd probably be fine.

Speaking of.. She flashed the younger woman a smile before answering.

"Zeltros, as you might've guessed. I only spent a few years there though, my parents worked at HFW, so we spent most of our time there. Probably good, considering what the Sith and the one with the Graug did to it."

Her brows furrowed momentarily at that. Zeltros, home of one of the least offensive, most friendly races in the galaxy had been having a rather rough go of it lately. Though it wasn't genocidally bad yet, the races numbers had taken a serious hit, and a scar had been left on the collective conscious of a people who were fairly sensitive to such things. Still, a mental shrug and it was gone. Perhaps this seemed flighty or shallow, but it was a learned skill. A properly socialized Zeltron focused on, dwelt in and experienced positive emotions, it was only polite.

"So I learned a lot about holograms! I guess you could say that's my hobby."

Again the dazzling smile. Hobby was putting it mildly. Again though, it wasn't really something she thought about. She liked holograms so she built and played with them, and as it turned out she was good at it and had made herself great. She didn't really have an ego to speak of though so.

Very little was needed of her, beyond a few switch flicks that weren't in easy reach of the main pilots chair. This seemed to be one of those ships where when things were going smoothly, it was almost a one person ship, if that person didn't mind jumping up to get something out of reach now and again. Likely for the best. Sunny was an adequate pilot. The result of countless trips were the proper Captain got himself incapacitated via drinks or drugs. Not a thing that she really looked negatively upon, she just wasn't in favor or crashing and dying or being lost forever, so she'd learned the basic.

"Holograms eh?" Ellie queried, throwing a few more levers. They were quick and silent through the void, approaching their entry point with haste. The girl was something of an Enigma. A Zeltron, a hologram specialist and a decent co-pilot. The piloting enough was sufficient to get her into Ellie's list of people she liked.

"Standby for the Jump. Powering up Hyperdrive!"

And power the drive did, as Ellies gloved hands worked the panel over, feeding power to the old drive. It whirred and sputtered and she kept a close eye on the wire frame readouts of the dash. The last time she'd tried to jump away from Sekalus the containment fields had failed, leaving her to jump.... well mysteriously.

She wasn't quite sure how, but she could just do it with her mind, without a hyperdrive.

Long story short the drive read all clear, and she'd never quite figured out the SNAFU.

"You want anything to drink?" Ellie asked, coking her head again with a beaming smile.

The drives were flowing full force, gamma radiation building up within their cores and preparing to open their exit vector.

It was at that moment that space began to crackle two hundred meters off their prow. The voids opened up, ripping themselves assunder under a powerful vortex of spinning multicoloured lights. The lights of the Crop Duster flickered and faded. Electrical arcs began to spasm across the dash, hopping along in a crazed dance.

"Whoa! Hold on!"

Alarms were blaring, the hyperdrive was going offline.

"We got too much power built in the drive!"

What the hell is this!?

Fingers danced across the systems, the young spacer desperate to get a readout from the sensors. Gravitational pull was maximum force, the space around it showed a fluxing of quantum proportions. Electrical current was flowing out and in at the same time, towards the center of the rip.

Typical, really karking typical.

"I lost engines, help me bleed the hyperdrive core! We blow that and we aren't going anywhere!"

The storm flashed again, wrenching them towards it with a lurch. Ellie roared in frustration, face flushed bright red and sweat dripping from her brow, plastering her hair to her face. The sensors blacked out.

This is a one way trip!
